Its from the Animatrix(the anime prequel to Matrix) where it shows the humans and machines in a final war before the Machines took over

It seems very similar to what would happen if Imperial guard/Space marines fought the necrons

go to 3:30 for disturbing scene of Necron Wraith ripping open a Sentinel/Dreadnought/Broadside esque mech suit and killing pilot
skip to 2:04 for waaagh charged conscripts charging

skip to 2:15 for artillery barrage

2:30 for the full awakening of the Necrons

2:44 for assault marines

2:52 for Necron monoliths

3:04 for monoliths owning artillery

Thanks for posting. To me, this little video provided better battle scenes than the two Matrix sequels. It certainly did have an Imperial Guard v. Necrons feel to it.

GW should sue.

Actually, if they'd stayed true to the novel rather than FUBARing it, they would have had exactly that. In the novel Starship Troopers (written in the 1940s, way better than the film) the "Starship Troopers" (or mobile infantry) were not hordes of grunts with machine guns, but super-elite troops who wore powered armour that can withstand anything short of a tank round, allowed them to jump up on top of sky-scrapers and the like, who were deployed via individual drop caspules, and who carried Y-racks with tactical nukes on their backs. They usually deploy in platoon-size strength.

I just think it's a perfect example of why the IG have tanks and Commissars.

Eye of Terra.

I'm not a fan of this particular anime. I don't think it jibes well with what I know of the Matrix Universe as well... then again, what do I know.

As far as the Necrons? Well, the Necrons as I understand them are not just machines, but have leaders at least that are wholly malicious in nature. Far beyond the flesh vs. machine theme. I don't think anyone would deny that they are based on the unfleshed terminators from the movie, umm, "The Terminator". Heck, even the "living metal" of the Necrons has to be based on the second movie. As for the 'nids? Well, we may say the Starship Troopers movie ripped off the tyrannids from GW, but the movie just showed what Heinlein was on about all along as far as the "bugs" were concerned.

GW has ripped off every iconic movie alien since, well, "Alien" came out. At least the second movie.

Funny that they get so upset when someone designs a shoulder pad for a marine and then they drop the bomb on them. Ah well...

"Starship Troopers" the movie was crap plain and simple...

The next two toys represent what would be two ideas closer to Heinleins idea.

I saw that Matrix anime when I was about 14, and the bit where the guy is getting ripped out of the battle suit screaming "help me, oh god help me" and being unable to move really really disturbed me. I'm horrified to find it still disturbs me now. *shudder*

The other got given to me for xmas two years ago from the brother in law (the only good part about the third movie).
Funnily enough, by the number, it's supposed to be Rico's marauder.
Rico's marauder DOESN'T have the rotary cannons. It has two of the other arm weapon sets instead of one of each.

Ah, the Animatrix. Haven't seen that in a long time! I thought it had a couple of good bits in it, but given that it was a collaborative effort, it was naturally a bit...uneven.

I do agree, it isn't a bad reflection of what a necron vs IG battle might look like. Heck, if you just assume some sort of alien robot soldiers gone bad vs. the IG, it could be straight out of 40k.

Actually, it doesn't even have to be alien. It is the war against the metal men. Mars had the power to make fully autonomous men through the Great Crusade. They did not, because they remember the war against the metal men from far before the rise of the Emperor.

Thanks guys,

but yeah honestly I think this battle scene in the anime is far more interesting then the battle scenes in the Matrix Movies

I wish there was more on the machines vs human war

Just a question though,

Has there been similar situations of Necrons taking over in a similar fashion?

The robot uprising is one of the most classic staples of sci fi. The Terminator, The Matrix, 2001: A Space Odyssey, 9....Portal? There are dozens of examples of machines rising up against their creators.

I found the part when they held down the battle-suit and ripped the person out of it to be really quite powerful.

In Dead Men Walking
Spoiler:
Necrons rise out of the ground ofter some people mine deep enough to actually strike the tip of the Tombhold. The Necron forces begin to emerge in waves slowly at first then sending out mass numbers so that it attracts the attention of the Iguard who sends the Death Korps of Krieg to halt their advance on the planet. It ends up going about just aswell as in the video, countless guardsmen are sent at the Necrons to have no visible effect and after several months of fighting the Krieg pull out and order Exterminatus on the planet.

Also, in the BRB there is some fluff on the Necrons that talks on the Fall of Damnos.

Stuff like that scene makes me wish I was mathematically inclined so I could invent electro-magnetic pulse rifles to wipe machinery in the case of such an event by the time I hit 50. Bothered me a little when I knew what was going to happen but when it actually happened it made me think of the machine was opening candy and getting the gooey goodness out of its wrapper. It seemed a lot less painful at that point.

Hmm. I'd like to think humanity would have more of a chance than that. For example, where were the airstrikes or tactical ICBMs?
Also, we are missing the specialist strike team attempting to take out the core AI, only for a single member to surrvive against all odds.
Still, good post mate!
