Subject: The Eltiran 14th - soncka's winter themed Imperial Guard
Subbed. Since they are Finnish themed will they have skis? I have the Unknown Soldier (or Tuntematon sotilas in Finnish) movie based on the book by Väinö Linna, ought to watch it as it's about the continuation war!

I agree: the weathering is great! I haven't see those particular pig iron heads before, are they the standard with some gs cold-weather gear or do they have a frosty line?
Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Rawson

Oh, yes. That would be great!
I also have a book about the war that I'm going to pick inspiration from.
I'm thinking of just giving the heavy weapons teams skis, so they can drag 'em around easier.

Thanks for all the feedback. I was a little worried about having gone too heavy on the weathering, but I think I'll go with that.
I'm glad you like them.
Amazing! I think it's one of the best winter IGs I've ever seen.

If you are up to little conversion, you can make snowmobile heavy weapon team with driver and gunner.

Wow, I never expected to hear that! Thanks, Cyrax.
As to the snowmobile idea... it is good, but I don't think it would fit in well with my infantry heavy mobile force.
Nice use of basing to bulk up the marine. Skidoo rough riders would be an interesting option
"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

1. Did you view my IG thread yet? http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/408342.page . I did also paint metallic colours onto FlaK armor. Which colour do you use for your FlaK armor? boltgun metal or something else?
2. colour for leather accessories please? which Citadel paints do you use?
3. is gray outfit "Spacewolves Gray"?
I think they look good.
My only suggestion is that maybe you could do some highlighting on the fur to make it stand out more from the leather of the cap?

1. I did now, they're quite nice.
It's just plain ol' Boltgun Metal over some Adeptus Battlegrey, for a weathered look.
2. The pouches and other belt accessories are Calthan Brown with a Devlan Mud wash, the backpacks are drybrushed white over the grey primer (see 3.) and several layers of Devlan Mud and Ogryn Flesh washes.
3. No, it's Army Painter's coloured spray primer Wolf Grey and some Badab Black wash. Saves me some time.

Yes, maybe that could be useful. I'll have to think about what paints I could throw on it, though, since the fur does have a red tint to it, as I use Baal Red on it, and the leather is straight Graveyard Earth.
Disjointed Entity wrote:Maybe it was just the light then.
Try scorched brown then very light graveyard earth.
I'll get me some Scorched Brown and try it, then!
Hindenburg wrote:I like to highlight graveyard earth with khaki myself.
That might work, but the Graveyard is the highlight on the leather. Or do you think it needs more?
In other news, I got me some nice new additions in the form of a Command Squad box and two Commissars yesterday (in Sweden we do christmas on the eve).
I've added them to the list in the first post (too much red! ).
