neil - It's not all sitting around pinging elastic bands at toy soldiers around here you know

dsteingass - Surely not. Hmm, something seems backwards here, was that a time-quake ? Thanks anyway

CK - Thanks. Metal was originally planned to feature a bit more in this force, but Arakasi prodded me to try a bit more colour back at the start, and hey, whaddaya know, I liked it. I was planning red instead of black though

schank - Squigs and robotiks are always a good combination. And you hit the nail on the head with the smurf cod-piece. I avoided the temptation to add some nasty stains to it though.

vik - It's either that, or they sit around for years waiting for me to finish them. And I do mean years, I have guard and slaaneshi beastmen which are close to finish, but haven't seen any love since well before I joined Dakka.

GG - Thanks man, bionik armpits FTW

Gits - Best use for those pads as far as I'm concerned. Honestly, it took a while before I could bring myself to paint smurf colours even on an ork.

Scarp - Cheers bud. Now if only I could do it for more than just yellow or green paint

Gits (deja vu) - Hotwheels and Wacky Racers certainly an influence there.

vik (definitely deja vu) - As above

dstein (see above) - Always good to hear an appreciative grunt.

GG (guess there's a bunch of glitches in the Matrix) - No, please...feel free to express your smurf-rage here, we understand, we can help, we've been there...

Made up for the bonus stuff on Sunday by doing nowt last night. Went to bed early to help combat the sudden onslaught of snot. Did have a search around for a suitable body for a squig-hound for Waaagh Dakka. Don't seem to have the other old slaan hound body I thought I had, so having to re-think my plans a bit.

Ignore the snotling on cyber-rat, he's just looking for attention. It's not even a full cyber-rat yet.
I'm thinking swap the warhound head for an organic head and add a tail, either that or attempt to sculpt a squig-hound body to add tracks and legs too. I figure I'll probably start on this version, and if I'm feeling lucky at the weekend try a bit of sculpting. Or find that missing body.

I did actually click on your blog this morning, scrolled down for a while absent mindlessly, and then got confused and wondered whose thread I was looking at. The sudden rush of paint is very cool - nice brush work and very ork-stylie colours

weety - Perfectly understandable that Don't worry I'm sure there'll be a sea of grey before the next venture into the wonderful world of technicolour. And thank alot, although I do feel they should have had a bit more care taken on them considering they're nobs.

CK - Well, you know I've used the legs, may as well use the body too - I know the dakka will get used at some point

schank - All the better to hunt grots with my dear.

KilroyKiljoy -

neil - Never got the reaver, just a bunch of weapons, but did like the warhounds. This was a 28mm army droid (from when they were called the Imperial Army ), one became an epic chaos warhound (the chain-wrapped legs) and one became a 28mm enforcement droid - the outstanding part of which was apparently the crushed coke can on the street corner base, at least, that was the feature everyone pointed to

Ok, guess I really should stop browsing through Dakka and go chop up some bits of plastic...

schank - Can't beat a good bit of choppin' now and again. Or quite often.

steve - Doubt it. Though there might be bits of grot featured

And so there was a little bit of chop-chop, followed by a bit of stikk-stikk.

Tankbusta

The rokkit launcher got looted from a HK missile from an in-progress chimera build. I almost went for all tracks for my tankbustas, but then decided I wanted a few on foot - or whatever they have in place of a foot. Needs some more detailing on the launcher and lenses put in place.

Shoota boy

That was going to be a small turbo-prop holding him aloft, but then I figured I needed more gravimetriks going on, so the props vanished, and there'll be a bit more detailing done. The spiky things on his arm could be part of the gravimetriks now, but originally this torso was heading for a boy who'd left the dok mid-operation, as he really wasn't happy with what was going on. He was just going to have pointless bits of metal and wiring attached - that'll probably still happen to some poor unsuspecting ork bits.

i too like the tankbusta... i might have to steal that goggled look... the built is rather simple there, what with no real head at all... you got suddenly poor and have to cut on heads?^^ that rebreather is a part of a SM packback? cool idea... this has to be further explored!!!

I was starting to wonder if the color scheme for your orks was gray and white.

By the way, I love the tankbusta and the shootaboy. The shoota boy looks like he's in agony because he's no longer able to use the toilet. Where does it all go???

Rogue - Thanks man, like I said it was built as a HK, but as that particular chimera has seen no love for several years the grots decided to grab it.

weety - I was going to ask what you were doing up at such a ridiculous hour, but I think that's been answered in your blog

schank - Cheers. I liked the look of slurpee-boy's head, but wanted to change out the wiring for something else this time round. No self-respektin' boy wants the same bits as another.

vik - Hey, the less heads I use on the boyz, the more heads I have to play with elsewhere, amirite?
Those vents are usful in all sorts of places - speakers, re-breathers, lights, sockets, even vents.

Gits - Nothing says cybork quite like a touch of post-apoc style

Scarp - Thanks bud. It's just some detailing on the gun and grav-unit, and some kind of powa-pak maybe, nothing major to come. Although as the head isn't glued yet there's always a possibility of change there

CK - Cheers, as do I

sam - Thanks, glad you enjoyed it What's wrong with classic grey and white orks, it takes a lot of hard work to get that 'plastic' look just right you know.

You never heard of methane powered anti-grav before

When he gets properly based he'll be at an angle so that the shoota is horizontal, that should make him look a little less constipated.

Not sure what I'll be working on tonight yet (hah, that makes it sound like there are times when I do), I was having a little play with something for neil last night, and it's been igniting a few sparks deep in the positronork brain.

Small update on the cyber-squig-hound for Waaagh Dakka

Poor cyber-grot tripped and grazed his knee

Or maybe he didn't trip.
Still needs a bit of work on his loincloth and blasta-arm.

A few wires hanging from the body, and still debating if anything is to be added to the top.

Also a bit more paint on the fighta, but not enough to warrant pics yet. The wings got a watered down red wash after drybrushing, but it dried rather streaky, you can see all the brushmarks. I'm hoping that'll dissappear when it gets sealed, but I'll give it another, less watered wash first.

And that's about it for now, it's been a slow week...
