I do agree with the fact that the helmet that bubbles bought has a greek shape, but if it was painted a tarnished silver + gold with red for the crest it should be roman enough.

Bronze was a normal crafting medium for armor for greek. Steal was that of the roman - started off with iron. Romans had rounded helmets with rounded check guards and grounded sheilds and rounded armor. They didn't want any armor bites. The spike above the forhead along with the narrow eye and gap between the middle of the face reconds it is greek and only greek. Just saying, painting silver wont make it roman.

Was just trying to help as I don't think that the Greek look works with Ultramarines IMO...

Just stumbled on this here bolg 'o' yours and had a bit of a look , from what i have managed to peruse thus far.... not bad at all, i will of course have a proper look as soon as i have time but i do really like the look of the Sang guard wings you did early on and the way you are putting the Ultras together is great, they look fantastic (for Ultras) especially the captain power sword with the slightly blue fade! job well done bubble! keep it up..... and i see all the cool kids hang out here too! Hi Bubble, I've seen you posting on some other threads and thought I would check out what you are upto. I've had a slow day at work so skimmed the entire thread. I must say as a newbie to the hobby your painting was very good and is improving, I also really like some of the Ultramarines you are building too. I am also really impressed with the GS hair on the knealing marine, any chance of a quick tutorial? Have you started painting any of the other marines? Glad to see there is plenty of banter on here too!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by hehe oh lord I could do a tutorial next time I make some hair... it's a very similar method to how J-Paint does his valhallan hats No as of yet but I'm waiting for my new spraypaint to arrive so can't start anymore until that gets here xxx

And... seeing as Vik was saying that my Apothecary lacked the 'Ultrasmurfette' look, I've changed him a little... I think he looks a bit more dynamic now? xxx

much better bubble... the addition of the servo skull is a nice gimmick... and the pose is standing a bit lopsided way better ! gives him an air of physician nonchalance... so common with docs all over the galaxy^^

by the way.. i had a reading error when clicking your thread... for a sec i read...a boobs first attempt... i couldn´t keep my face straight thought i´d share that piece of info with you^^

Apothecary is looking really good, I like the little addition of the servo skull.

Much cheesier! If you wanted ultra cheese you can make that chainsword arm look somewhat like it's resting on his shoulder and then make him look the other way, resting the narthecium on his leg or something

I like the face Bubble, good job! you could (if you want) maybe just add a tiny little bleached bone highlight on his brow, cheeks and chin to lift it but other than that you've done great! the blue is nicely done and your gold is lovely! looking forward to more. :-)

I do bronzed flesh first as painting the shining gold on black just takes forever to cover... then lots of black wash when the gold is strong enough xxx

Few subtle things- tried some script on the purity seal on his leg and his shoulder a transfer on his other shoulder

Haven't really made any of my bases interesting but I'll post pics as and when I do lol xxx
