Gits - That's all right, I'll forgive you Thanks a lot!
neil - You know about the episode 1 nightmare? Wait, that means it wasn't a nasty dream, it really did happen? NNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!
With the jade I was looking to move away from my 'usual' blue and orange, I was originally thinking turquoise and red would be a change but still keep a 'connection'. Then when I reached for the turqouise I decided on the jade instead.
The needle itself is part of a watch, with plastic tubes for the syringe body.
dstein - Thanks man. I'm way behind on your terrain log, really need to catch up.
CK - Cheers! I'm pretty confident that the dok has more positronork brains planned, they're a lot of fun
vik - Yeah, I'm starting to find yellow my 'fallback' colour these days, which is a change from it being the 'yellow? No, that's a bugger to paint' colour So going with brighter colours for these guys has changed my range, but just changed it, rather than actually widening it.
He just wants his belly rubbed.
The tiny cogs are again watch parts. Always handy
Scarp - Cheers bud! Access to my bits box is on a 'first come, first eaten by the cyber-squig' basis.
You should hear some of the stories the catachan's have about troopers on ork-infested planets who haven't seen R&R in years

but a change of pallete is a good step... after all you can always go back to blue and red and then you have the knowing of the yellow too^^ so actually it is like learning to ride a bike... you can never un-learn it^^ of course major brainsurgery or just a frying pan in the right arc is a possible way to achive just that^^

I've forgotten how to write in cursive. But it's mostly because I've just always thought it was a waste of time.

GG - Thanks man!
Umm, not sure if this is a good thing, but I think I may have been mainly responsible for creating a search category in the gallery. One of the options on the home page is 'cyborks', with 796 pics showing. I have well over 700 pics with that tag

Nothing in the world is in cursive script anymore, it's dead like latin. They are finally stopping teaching it in schools now in favor of typing skills.

Who needs chisels when you got glyphs
So little getting done on the hobby front at the moment. A combination of six-day weeks, late-night stock-taking, work courses to attend and assignments means I'm a busy bunny this week and the next few weeks. Somewhat consoled myself by having a little splurge on goodies. A combination of birthday money and no social life or food for a month or two meant I could stick my fingers up at the bank manager Still waiting for my package from masq-miniatures, been a month now, I've sent a mail to confirm it's shipped.
Took advantage of the last bit of sunshine we'll probably see for a while to grab a couple of pics of the fighta with fresh gloss spray. Which didn't get good coverage.
Hopefully now you can see it is red Gloss did clear up the streaky wash, even if it wasn't a good layer. Now the gloss is down I'll start the weathering in earnest, and finish up the details on the fuselage/engine. Still wavering on the colour choice for the 'walls' at the wing roots, but figured I can still do those later. Did try for some flying shots above the water, but hadn't prepared any decent way to do it, and nearly lost it a couple of times.
I did test it onboard first to see if it floated, as I almost tried a shot of it on the water. Which was just silly really. But did give me an idea for a floating platform to take shots from. If I start it now I might even have it ready by the time the days are light again.
Have played a bit with some different skins for some of the boys.
Gunner - base of tau-sept ochre, devlan wash, thraka wash, deneb highlight, selected flesh wash, thraka wash.
Mekanikus - something slightly different, but I've already forgotten, what the difference was It was done a couple of days ago I think.
And Snake'ead Jonez becomes the first non-green ork to join. (Albinork was yellowy-green).
Deneb base, sepia wash, flesh wash, deneb highlight, selected flesh wash, sepia wash. Purple wash around the neck and a rivet in his back - which looks a lot more subtle in the hand.
Have another boy who's had a tau-sept base and devlan mud - he'll be staying that kind of shade, but not woth pics of just those two colours
Afraid that's it for now, more of a note to self about colours than an update. Really should do that more here, as I'm always losing notes on colour schemes. Hopefully I'll get some spare time and energy to do a few things, probably a little burst of energy as new shinies arrive

I agree the Fighta IS stunning! not sure if its the light but it looks light you have a gradient on the wings , either way looks super , and suitably fast, the blending on the nose is great. Shame we didn't get to see the over the water shots.
The new boys look as cool as the uvver bozs, nice to see the skin experiments , i thought snake head was just a regular non mekky conversion, then i noticed his arm is a shoota too. Should have know better . Cool updates monkey

shaso - Cheers bud!
dstein - Yeah I need to work more on green washed skin, there'll be ample opportunities I reckon
CK - mekanikus is better than the gunner, the gunner's deneb highlights were a bit streaky and harsh. Maybe another green wash. Yeah, Jonez does get a bit close to humie there, that'll be as close as it goes that way, but there will be several non-green green-skins kicking about. A few browns, a couple of reds, one blue one, with a 'elmet, a shoota and a pack Maybe a few others. Upzag and Grimsnik have travelled a lot and sent M-is-hairy's bearing da word ov Gorka-Mekka far and wide They've picked up a motley assortment of ork-kin from all over the galaxy - perhaps with some of their tek, even beyond.
Don't matta wot kolor youze iz, s'long as youze got some bionik bitz.
But they're mainly green
weety - Thank you! Indeed 'tis time to get scratchy with it.
vik - Glad you approve. And thank you.
Is Mrs vik fully aware that your idea of romantic includes tiny, psychotic, cybernetically 'enhanced' fungus-kin trying vainly to control a bloody great jet engine with a couple of 'wings' bolted to it, whilst shooting loud guns and BIG fireworks at everything in sight?
graven - Appreciate that my friend. Damn, is my tail showing again?
neil - Thanks man! There is a definite gradient on the wings, very dark to dark The nose isn't that good close up, the colours make it look better, but it wasn't that important as that's going to be getting some heavy chipping/weathering.
Not the best angles on Snake 'ead, hard to see that's actually an epic reaver titan head he's wearing along with the gun-blade. I'll blame the rocking again

vik - I promise not to tell any women I know heading your way
dakkagrot - Thanks man! I have other plans for battlewagons. I use the plural in the hope that at least one of the ideas makes it to construction stage Although the junka should be able to switch load-outs to become a battlewagon, don't have a supakannon planned for it though.
Fox Box - Sorry about that, some of the grots thought they'd make good dirigibles. And vik has the answer you're looking for
vik - ^^ ( lol)
Ok, so still stupidly busy, and tomorrow after work heading off for training on our new computer system for the rest of the week. So not much coming either I'm afraid. So in place of any real update let's have another round of vicarious package opening Hmm, smell that fresh packaging...
Couldn't resist this when I saw it (but that's only because I have a little spending money at present):
Lovely kit, beautifully cast, I've found one bad mould line on one of the little thrusters, and to be honest, that's pretty much the only one that's even visible. Unfortunately, it was missing one piece when it got here e-mail sent, hopefully that'll be waiting for me when I get back. There's several nice looking leg bits at the bottom of the pic, they won't be appearing with the main body In fact, I'm guessing very little of the pieces will be going to the same home. And I think I might enquire about the posibility of getting hold of some more of that brass etch - very nice fan blades there.
I'm waiting on a grav-tank from antenociti's as well, and need to go grab a couple of built and unbuilt resin grav vehicles from my folks garage before seeing what can be done with it all But I need to get some more stuff off the ground, so to speak.
And speaking of photo-etched bits :
Some random bits for detailing, got a few more pieces along with some plasticard sheets and tubes, and a few bits of foilage littler.
And the bits I can see getting used an awful lot:
The Tube Tool from Masq-Miniatures. How could I resist a tool for making a variety of cabling I think there may be even more cables and wires appearing on a cybork near you soon. Not to mention old-skool robot limbs, dok-ock style tentacles and other stuff. That's a couple of test pieces I tried, two with wire inside the GS so I could pose it after, works really well, one tapered GS and a test on some blu- tac.
I'm going to have fun with these
Apologies for the lack of pwetties, hopefully a few days away combined with a bunch of new shinies to play with will mean there's a burst of productivity next weekend.
So long, and fanks for all da teef...
edit - Cheers shaso, although I'm fairly sure there's not always new stuff to check out when you come by...
