Let's see. If I get the Storm raven and Storm Talon and stick the Talon on the back end of the Raven and Ork-a-fy it, I could have the first Ork B-17 heavy bommer!

Has anyone noticed that the blitza-bommer looks like an orkifyed version of a stuka dive-bomber?

Not really. The Stuka was crank-winged and more angular. The Bommer is much closer to a Korean War era Mig, with a WW2 'glasshouse' canopy similar to those used on bombers like the Avenger:

Why would you think it's Cypher? Cypher is in a hood, doesn't have a big double barreled plasma whatsit, doesn't actually look like that, etc.

Also, the fliers are all up for pre-order now. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat440160a&rootCatGameStyle=wh40k

Your right what was I thinking, once hoods are placed on they can never be flipped back. Also clearly GW wouldn't ever retcon a character who has the coolest back story but worst gear imaginable...

Someone cashing in on the flyer buzz.

Considering it is around $36 Australian bucks cheaper than the GW one down here I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of them proxied up.

Well, looks like DA will be getting a new codex soon and the BT rumors of a new codex sometime next year means you just have to be patient.

I didn't see that Puppetswar flyer before. I like it, apart from the huge jets. It looks as though it'd be crewed solely by Grots.

Looking at the sprue photos of the Bommer on the GW site, it looks like a great kit. It even has separate dive brakes!

Did the eldar get a new codex when they got a WD tank? It's a nice way of selling new kits and adding models to ranges between codicies but I wouldn't take it as a sign that a new one is around the corner.

The Scythe looks even more impressive, with the views available on the GW site now.

It also looks like one of the simplest kits to assemble, I've ever seen. Doesn't look it has much more than 10 pieces, haha.

EDIT: Whoops. Did not account for a lot of the smaller detail plastic pieces. Still looks easy to assemble though.

Well it will have several pieces for the weapons I suspect but it still looks simple enough. One more thing on my order list - which is getting way longer than my wallet would appreciate. I might even throw a Dakkajet in - and I don't even play Orks! I loved it!

@smurf Not sure but I wouldn't expect it to be more than 30+

Do we have rules for Ariel Assault and Supersonic? I don't recall ever reading these rules.

Are they in the Necron codex? If so where since I missed them.

In the Necron codex and in the Dark Eldar codex. Aerial assault means you can move 12" and shoot all your weapons, and supersonic means you can move 36" instead of 24" as your flat out move.

Supposedly the flyers get better in other ways too come 6th edition.

I like the fact that the dakka jet is basically BS3, except for a few targets, and a 10 point upgrade makes it BS3 against everything.

imagine having 3 of these in a WAAAGH battle missions game? 18 bs3 twin-linked shots each per turn? thats alota dead fings.

The Avenger was a torpedo bomber. If you want a tailgunner and Swiss cheese dive flaps that inspired one variant of the new Ork Bommer then you have to go with the Dauntless Dive Bomber:

The MiG 15 comparison is certainly accurate while it also echoes the F86 Sabre from that same period, especially given variations in tail assembly on the new Ork Bommer:

To me, this is just a shortened helicopter. The chin turret swivels so they can make fly by shots and not have to face the enemy the whole time or so the weapon can follow the enemy as it moves so the pilot doesn't have to do all of the work.

I'll get 3, probably (not paying full price, though). Make the tail longer, remove some of the air ducts (why are those even there? the jets are on the wings...) and put the LC/HB/ML somewhere else. I was thinking on the top or on the engines.

The only thing that irks be about this flyer is that there's so many flat, drag-inducing surfaces. I don't think the Stormraven has so many flat forward-facing surfaces.

Yes, I can see a lot of that in it too - especially the wings. Good call. It's pretty clear that these planes were sources of inspiration - whereas there's very little of the Stuka in it.

Funny part is, mine will likely be just for display and fun of building. Im working on a counts-as DA Deathwing army, and so far they are saying the Stormtalon is codex chapters only.

What would be nice is a mod to the standard SM codex allowing a Company master (like Belial) that unlocks termies as troops for those who want to do a 1st company army, like Im basically doing.
