generally they are the wrong size for 40k. either to big or to small. the weapons are not beefy enough either to look good as a 40k model.

I just have to say for once GW designed a nice new model and started it at a Decent price, although knowing them they will just include these models in their price hike.

After looking at the rules for the Ork vehicles, I absolutely have to field them. I don't care if they're not optimal or if there are better options out there, just the mental image of an Ork pilot speeding his way to deliver bombs straight into the face of some poor eldar, then crashing straight into the ground with a gleeful "WAAAAAAGH!" is just too amusing to pass up.

For 135 points total, the Dakkajet is a BS3 killing machine that can keep moving 12" to keep itself somewhat safe.

okay after reading and re-reading the rules for the Stormtalon, I can't find anywhere where it says for SM armies and not the secondary codexs, like SW, DA, BT, BA or GK, could someone point me in the right direction?

bu that is not in the rules section for the flier, and yeah I realize that is "rules lawyering" but isn't that a little misleading if it isn't on the actual pages for the rules?

The PDF of price increases I have doesnt list the Stormtalon, so likely the others arent part of the increase either. Afterall, the increase happens at about the same time they are being released. However, expect them as part of next years increase for sure.

I think these new models have their price raise including upon release.

Previously they probably would have had the same price tag as the Dark Eldar Razorwing (32,50 Euro), but they cost 36,- Euro (which I expect the Razorwing to cost as well after the price raise).

As a SW player, I feel ya man. But unfortunately the GW website only has the Stormtalon available under the Vanilla Marines section.
I know, massive disappointment.

Anyway to make the orks more of an A-10 feel?

I feel like I'd need to combine both kits (the chibby and orks) to get what I'd want.

Why anyone would complain they cannot field a Stormtalon is beyond me.

I would't field one EVER, they are so ugly.

Of course seeing Ultramarines players with one will just make me smile that much more!

I think placing the twin linked assualt cannons where the sensor suit is would make it look better, or placing them underslung on the wings, and maybe extending the wings would work too.

Seriously this is some first class logic right here. I suppose it's okay for Tyranid players to use it too, considering the 'update for C:SM' isn't in the 'rules section'...

What? You mean my friend was right? I can't use the Storm Talon in my Eldar army? That is total BS, show me where it says that!!!!111!!

Ok, but seriously. I can see where the BT and occasionally the SW (but not often for the space puppies) feel a little left out in the cold with these new fliers but I simply don't understand the previous BA whine about not having access to this vehicle as well as a StormRaven. I for one welcome the differentiation in things other than rules and hope to see some "GaleRaptor" or what have you for the other Codexes that vanilla, BA and GK can't get.

That Ultramarine jokes weren't really that funny to begin with. Don't be that guy, it's embarrassing...

And if the flyer rules in 6th make them cheesy as all hell EVERYONE (even the people hating on them now) will have as many of them as they can fit in a list...

No uglier than other marine fliers - it appears GW have decided that all marine flying vehicles must look like flying bricks.

But seeing the Stormtalon does give me a great conversion idea - using most of one as a jetpack for a DreadKnight

That would look amazing! Amazing and wrong at the same time. Genius! You could even use the cockpit part to enclose the baby carrier style pilot on the knight and have a mecha. My head hurts just thinking about it (keep the battletech out of 40k!).

However, limiting it to codex chapters only is silly. Take DA for example...the first chapter, ever, and they cant have it...or any of the other first founding "non codex" chapters like BA, SW, etc. So Dante, who IIRC has been a BA Commander for 10,000 years dials up the Admech and requests one, they tell him no. Then some guy from a new founding successor chapter makes the same request and they send them as many as they want...sounds kinda stupid to me. I could see something thats a modification to an existing design made by a certain chapter being limited, but a standard design should be available to all SM chapters.

That would look like Optimus Prime after he combines with Jetfire.

And the Ad Mech ask what the hell Dante thinks he's doing overclocking all his sacred rhino engines. And as your here, about that Baal Predator...

Good point. Keep your Storm Talons...we have Baals that are AV13 and also carry TL AC's for 15 pts cheaper.

Actually, if you look at the white pictures, it looks better. The blue makes it look like a toy.

That would defeat the purpose of it swiveling, though. To me, the problem is the Heavy Bolter/Lascannon/Missile placements. They make the front almost over-the-top fat, with almost being the key word; because it isn't actually slightly comical, it is just kinda ugly. I think that if they were put... anywhere else, it might look better. It also doesn't help that the tail is so short.

I agree, just something about the white that really suits the model.

The Ultramarine jokes are funny when you realise it is akin to generic hipster hate.

"You play Ultramarines? Well I play armies that no one has heard of. You know, that aren't on every box".

Supposedly the flyers get better in other ways too come 6th edition.

Thanks, I see it in my Necron codex now. Since I wasn't going to field it, I never saw it had those rules. I wonder, wouldn't the codex trump the BRB or what ever it will be, so we still have to go by what the codex says? I guess it would be Errated to make it official if we go by the 6th BRB.

Thanks again.

There are no rules for the Night/Doom Scythe in the White Dwarf, since they are in Codex: Necrons. The Scythes do NOT have aerial assault., but Do have supersonic (which is in Codex: Necrons as a 36" flat out move, just as in WD.) No errata necessary.

The Scythes do NOT have aerial assault.,

Both Scythes have aerial assault. Pages 50, 51, 91 and 95 of Codex: Necrons. I'd like to know why people talk with such authority when they have no idea what they're talking about, but I guess it's one of the mysteries of the universe that will never be revealed to me.
