BTW I will buy two Tervi kits, make one a tervigon, the other a tyrannofex with two exemplars of the tank hunter gun sticking from the back (2 shots!) and the hive thingy feet in front as the thorax weapon. Looks more balanced that way.

I bought some random nid bits from ebay and used the 'feeder' arms from the large MC venom cannon. You can even lengthen it with a paperclip-wireframe and greenstuff.

Then throw a few spikes on the end for good measure.

well to start with we don't actually know what the warrior prime looks like e.g it may have completely different body amour and positioning compared to the normal warrior. The space marine commander is hardly any different from a marine at all, you could very easily make several from a box of tactical marines as the shape of him or his amour inst going to be different from a standard marine whereas tyranids have many different amour types(compared to space marines standard guys and terminators who look pretty similar anyway)The commander pack is just a marine with a lot of bits but the warrior prime has the potential to be a completely different model to the warrior.

I imagine that comparing a warrior prime to a regular warrior would be like comparing an ork warboss to a nob. A bigger, beefier version of the same thing.

I'd be an interesting concept for a Dactyllis, an old Epic/TCG Tyranid that is a massive self-propelled artillery piece.

The gun itself is a Rupture Cannon though.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Rupture_Cannon#.T0VK7vWweG4

But yes, there are some great conversion opportunities here. Thanks to those plastic hive tyrant wings and tail, making a Harpy just got a whole lot easier. Really, I don't see why a winged Hive Tyrant with no arms and Stranglethorn/Venom Cannons attached to its torso couldn't already be a Harpy.

i found an easy and effective way of making a tyranid prime (albeit not the most cost effective) is to use the body and head of a ravener, ontop of the usual warrior bits, give him whatever weapons and upgrades you want and hey presto, instant tyranid prime, would post pics but i sold him some time ago, kicking myself now though, loving the new stuff, and will be hard pressed not to start up again =p, in the meantime ill see if i can find a pic of him =)

Actually, you are thinking of the Exocrine, with the Tyrannnofex being its successor (and the Carnifex being too small):

The Dactylis is the rock thrower:

Well, it's been way too long a wait but the models look incredible and I'm glad for all the tyrannid players who've been suffering without some of their better codex options.

Say hi to 4+ cover for trygons (as tervis look big enough to obscure them now)

Your 200 point close combat monster is winning, crawling around behind your lines? I assume you're joking, even then it makes me sad.

Sorry, but where and when did I say it was crawling behind my lines?

When you said it crawled around behind your Tervigon, of course. Which means it's deployed 3.75" from your front line, 4.75" if your Tervigon for some reason is deployed with his oval base pointing forwards. I assume you haven't actually fielded Trygons in a tournament, or you'd realize how important every inch is, in getting them into combat before they're gunned down. You win and lose games depending on the run rolls of Trygons. They are deployed as far forward as possible to provide pressure and target saturation.
In your case, your Trygon is also slowed down by bad run rolls from your Tervigon screen. It's just not a viable play. Trygons are iffy and random even when deployed 24" from the enemy.

And no, a Trygon can't even screen a custom-made Tervigon (assuming the standard Carnifex conversions). Have you seen the Trygon lower body? It's slender and snake-like. I can't imagine it screening the new - twice the size - Nosavigon either. So please stop this sillyness. If you want 5+ cover save for your Nosavigon before 6th ed, you're forced to include Venomthropes or possibly Gargoyles, or hug some generous terrain piece.

@N.I.B

Trygons can be actually quite good with a Tervigon, as long as it has Onslaught.

Seriously, a psychic power that allows it to shoot 6 Str 5 AP 5 shots at 12", followed by a run and assault? From as WS 5, Str 6, Int 4 MC with 6 attacks and rerolling hits? With the Prime firing twice as many shots? Plus the Birthed gants.

Mate, at short range that combo is lethal. And for less than you might think. About 400pts but it seems like it should be more.

I personally think both MaxMini and PuppetsWar have the best Mycetic Spores for conflicting reasons. Pity that they aren't very compatible with one another.

Regardless, Cyclonus over at Troll Forged Miniatures was working on one years ago, but the project was seemingly forgotten. I'm terribly saddened by this.

I also loved Navarro's original Spore Pod design before it was inexplicably changed:

Actually, the Maxmini pod is too small. Crusader Casting, Mythicast, Mr. Dandy, and Chapterhouse also offer Alien pods.

You don't need that, just scale it to intended contents, like a Carnifex.

Sure, like the GW drop pod is scaled to fit a Dreadnought or 10 Marines?

Until GW release an official model, scale for the pod isn't going to be consistent. Like the Tervigon before release - Kroothawk uses that old russian sculpt that is now about 4" too short.

Size of the MaxMini Spore:

It's on the smaller end. It's still a great model.

I like the big CH spods - It's like putting down MC 50% cover terrain (even for Trygons) wherever you want on the battlefield when they come in

just hope your MC hasn't died before they come in!

My main problem with the CH pod is it looks like a... specific part of the female anatomy. Covered in smaller ones. With tentacles emerging from them.

I'm not entirely sure why that's a bad thing. It's not realistic enough to be tastless.

I find it endearing.

Regardless, I still think Navarro should have done his other Spore design for CH.
