I've never played through FF7, and although I know the basic plot I watched the 're-cap' thing that was on the Advent Children DVD. Even with that the damned movie made no sense.
I would play a re-done FF7 with pretty 3D graphics though.

The pitfall they also do no want to fall in is the whole 'Aliens style movie' thing..
It would be nice for them to showcase a little of every major army in the 40k universe
I can see it now....The Ultramrines are getting there behinds handed to them by the Tyranid force, the marines outnumbered one hundred to one and loosing fast, then in a distant engine noise can be seen on the horizon getting closer a formation of bikes can be seen with what looks like small dwarf like creatures atop of them, HOORAH the Squats have come to save the Ultramrines! the Ultramrines go back home in pure shame..

Well, considering how that thing usually goes, it'll probably take months to reach us as a proper DVD release anyway. And it will of course be cut, I have no doubt about that. Sidstyler wrote:H.B.M.C. wrote:Great Unclean One wrote:...what's the storyline of Advent? It's incomprehensible.
I recently re-watched Advent Children again. The fight scenes are still awesome, but even if you know the plot of FF7, the movie doesn't make a lot of sense. It still looks brilliant though. It looked good, sure, but made no fething sense whatsoever, and I have a sneaking suspicion the entire thing was nothing more than a lame excuse to do a big CGI battle between Cloud and Sephiroth, and make money off of it somehow.
You say that, like it's a bad thing. Well, anyway, SquareEnix made remakes of FF3 and 4 for DS and a remake of FF6 for GBA, so FF7 just has to be next.

If the hype doesnt absolutly crush them, this could end up being quite enjoyable. I just hope they dont make it gore-free, that would be a big letdown to any black-library readers.

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

I found the story line rather easy to follow (Ive seen it many times though) but I also played the game... I liked the story line too!
And sadly unless they are changing theyre minds AGAIN! then ff7 is just staying without a remake and that video I posted a while back was just a promo for playstation3 (originally the video didnt say promo and stuff on it so they got everyone excited! WHY?!?!?!)

I'm expecting a violence level at least on par with 300, anything less and i'd be disappointed. Visually if it equals or betters the DOW2 trailer i'd be happy. Story wise, it has to be smurf nids (i hope) because everyone else requires a degree of explaining wheras nids are just hungry beasties, I wouldnt say no to the battle for macragge, with the whole 1st company dying etc, it'd be cool and still allow gw to blow smoke up ultrasmurfs asses

Yeah fingers crossed its a good job and gains some momentum, the 40k universe/lore/fluff has such incredible possibilities.
Quite surprised GW havent looked at doing something like this before on a decent scale, I think it could be a real runner if done well and marketed properly.

If this thing was on the level of FF7 Advent Children, it'll be awesome.
At some point, you're better off just accepting that the plot may not make the most sense, but holy god the action CGI sequences are awesome.
Enjoy the film for what it should be: Mindless action flick.

GW has been approached in the past by big film names regarding turning 40K and Fantasy into movies. Peter Jackson came to GW after LOTR to discuss the possibility of making Warhammer Fantasy into a film, backed by New Line cinema. However GW are notoriously strict in controlling their IP. I heard the reason they declined Peter Jackson's proposal was because New Line cinema wanted the rights to the merchandise from the film (ie: action figures, books, soundtrack, assorted nick-nacks etc...), but GW basicaly said that Warhammer (and all it's characters/imagery) is their IP and they would retian sole rights (and therefore profits) from any movie merchandise. Unsurprisingly New Line then pulled out, since as much as the cost of cinema tickets would get some money to New Line, a lot of the money made off the back of a film is from the merchandise. It's a shame because as long as GW maintain this attitude (as understandable as it is that they want to protect their IP) it will mean in all likelyhood we'll never see a 'proper' live action movie of either game system. With this CGI film they'll just be paying the makers a flat fee and they'll also take a % of the DVD sales, but as it's a straight to DVD film I doubt there'll be any merchandise to fight over. Plus the makers of the CGI are a small company so probably couldn't fight for the rights to merchandise. Still, it's good to see any kind of professional GW movie. No longer will we have to sit through the intros to the computer games and wish for a film.

I want blood. Gruesome horrible blood. This is the dark dank future. But I know that it will be PG-13. So it will be a "little" bloody but not the disemboweling awesomeocity that 40K demands.
