I like how in books and stuff, space marines are the epic sauce and oh your sword cant pierce my armor and your gun cant do nuffin against meh! but in DOW trailers, its like HAHA SHOT THE CHEST DEAD MARINE! I dont understand... why is book armour epix and screen armour all terrible... Is this just me being dumb or is it true?
Well, in DoW trailers, the Marines are fighting powerful enemies. In the original trailer, they get swarmed by Orks, in Dark Crusade, they get taken by surprise by the Necrons getting back up, and in DoW II they're fighting elite Eldar forces. I only counted three Marines dying in that trailer; one gets sniped by a Ranger, one gets stabbed by a Howling Banshee with a power weapon, and the last to die gets fried by the Farseer's psychic lightning.
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
Eh... I suppose though... Even if they were "elite" eldar... the marines are the emperors "finest" right? Im not sure... Even in some books marines crush the most intense foes
One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.

Fixed it for ya! Silly Blood Angels!
Now where's that despair poster when you need it...

EDIT: I think I would actually really enjoy a full length CG movie in the DoW II style. I'm a sucker for CG (loved Spirits Within and Advent Children) and the technology to make it look more and more real is getting better every day (Beowulf was pretty crazy realistic in parts). I vote they have the Sergeant's voice (from the DoW II trailer) as the main Ultramarine hero dood. That or The Tick, of course.

WIN.
Someone model this, with the fat chaplin with top hat.
We can only hope. That way, after hearing that particular style of British accent for 70 minutes, people will finally get it through their heads that he's actually saying "Space" and not "Spehss".
I was listening to the accent for Boreal (because you're worth it), it's not British, it sounds like Jurgen Prochnow's accent (Duke Leto in the Lynch Dune) so perhaps german/dutch voice accent.

No matter how this movie will be someone will have to send Anung Un Rama and me the uncut version.

I love the tactical critical appraisal of the Dawn of War intro movie. Yes, it does not make sense to leave cover to charge into combat with a CQB oriented foe. Nor is it sense that it is the year 40,000. Orks are nonsensical. Superhuman gene clones of the sons of a god-emperor are nonsensical.
Having said that, the marine dude does place his flag on top of the hill, so in game terms that's FTW. Maybe that's why some people suck at DOW? Base building instead of point grabbing.
Anywho, I imagine the budget of this movie will partly determine how good it is: CGI is fairly expensive still. Straight to DVD is not convincing, but then what movie company would put 40K on the big screen?
i like the idea of it being cgibut i dont think it shuld be the smurfs.
'normal' humans would have been better, like inquisitors, assasins, titans
or even aless famous marine chapter
1500pt-first completed 40k army
2000pts- main army, my own army with its own colour scheme and fluff, heavily converted

Spirits within was completely seperate from any of the FF games, which was a good thing in my opinion. I loved it, it was a good quality piece of cyber punk.
I really liked Advent children too (especially the fight scenes on the motorcycles), but I prefered Spirits Within.
Great Unclean One wrote:I need to watch it, is Advent any good? Spirits was very cool indeed, what's the storyline of Advent?
Advent Children continues where the game FF7 left off, IIRC, or else it might coincide with the latter part of the game and diverts from the original story towards the end.
Either way it's the FF7 world and it rules. If you liked Spirits Within you'll like Advent Children much, much more. Gorgeous CG, memorable characters, amazing fight scenes, beautiful music and brilliant story make it too good to miss.
If you've never played the game, however, you will be a little confused. Not so much that it ruins the movie, but it would be kinda like watching The Return of the King without seeing the first two movies or reading the books. Definitely some WTF moments but in no way unwatchable.

Well there you have it. I still stand by the rest of my post though.
I've not played any FF game, but I still enjoyed Advent Children. The intro to the film tells you enough to understand (sort of) what is going on. Plus FF7 is so much in the popular culture (who wouldn't recognize a picture of Cloud now, even if his name escaped you) that you can piece together who is who.
Back on topic though, I have re-watched the trailer for the Space Marine game and the CGI (not gameplay footage) is pretty good. Maybe that will be the standard for the CGI of the film. I find myself getting more and more optimistc about the movie the more I think about it. The Ultramarines in the CGI trailer look awsome, so why not in the film? I just hope some screenshots and/or concept art leak out soon.

I imagine that this movie will consist of Marysue Calgar killing the avatar and then a bloodthirster and then he'll go choke an avatar to death and then he will go kill a c'tan or two.
lol my thoughts exactly.
Plot: Our hero, the Ultra sick Lord of the Ultra Marines (Ben Afflec) falls for a hot alien chick (Megan Fox). He is torn between his duties to server and protect his chapter and brethren of the Ultra Marines, obey the undying living-half-dead-demi-god-Emperor of mankind ...or hooking up with a really hot alien chick (I mean cmon did you see Transformers? Yeah I'd hit that 2x). Along the way he meets a rag tag bunch of tough but lovable bunch of space marines. Their duty; to protect the human race from the endless kill bad guys ...and to party dudes! Cowabunga!
But, will they be enough to stop the forces of evil.... the immortal Gods of Chaos; the Blood God Khorne (Oprah Winfrey), Lord of decay and sick stuff Nurgle (Rosie O'donell), the Dark lord of pleasure Slaanesh (Madonna) and the god of change Tzeentch (Tom Cruise). Other gods include Star god C'tan (Chris Kattan), the God of war Khaine (Nicolas Cage) and the Laughing God (Jim Carrey).
CAST (as decided by Hollywood)
Marneus "blue" Calgar - Ben Afflec
Knight Captain Kato SICKarius - Matt Daemon
Uriel Ventris and Sgt. Pasanius - Jay and Silent Bob
Master of the Forge - Jessie James from Monster's Garage
Sgt Telion - Terry Bradshaw
Primarch Robateallleax Guilliman - Steven Colbert
The Emperor of Mankind - Ron Jeremy
Horus the Primarch - John Lithgow
Ciaphas Cain - Seth Rogen (uh huh huh huh huh huuh)
OTHER SPACE MARINES:
Salamanders - Chris Rock, Ice-Cube, Kanye West (first guy in movie to die)
Crimson Fist Lord Pedro Kantor - John Leguizamo
OMFG best movie Evar!
Spoiler:
There will be a sequel
I sort of feel sick now... only because if... Hollywood made a 40k movie... it would be almost identical to this description. With the exception of John Lithgow, I can't help but think this would be terrible.

It's incomprehensible.
To say the least...I liked FF7, but honestly I hated Advent Children.
It looked good, sure, but made no fething sense whatsoever, and I have a sneaking suspicion the entire thing was nothing more than a lame excuse to do a big CGI battle between Cloud and Sephiroth, and make money off of it somehow. All they really have to do is re-release FF7 with pretty graphics, that's really all any die-hard fanboy wants. All these sequels and prequels and other attempts to milk the franchise are doing more harm than good in my opinion.

They originally were supposed to re-release it for PS3 (which I would have bought just to play it ) without changing any story line at all, just upping the graphics... Then retracted it and said it was just a preview to advertise the ps3... LAME!

I agree with you about re-releasing FF7, I honestly don't understand why they don't.
(Then again, I don't get why GW doesn't hire 1 guy to browse through a site like Dakka for a few days and then write up a full rules clarification document...)
As far as sequels/prequels go, I did enjoy Crisis Core. But that may have been because I was playing it in the desert and there wasn't much else to do. Who knows?
