I reckon it'll be Ultramarines fighting the Orks and I'm guessing it'll be released to tie in with the release of the Space Marine game next year, which is Ultramarines fighting Orks (see where I'm coming from?).

I am going to remain cautiously optimistic about this. Although not an Ultramarines player I can't deny that Space Marines are the coolest think about 40K and although there are chapters with more character (Wolves, Dark/Blood Angels) it should be good to see Space Marines kicking ass. I'm setting my expectation bar as the intro CGI from the first DOW game. I still think this is pretty cool (although it was surpassed by DOW 2 CGI) and I'd be happy for a 70 minute battle scene like that.
If it does look like Bionicle though I'll cry .

I could imagine this being some kind of prequel to Space Marine, much like Dead Space had its animated prequel, Downfall (which was excellent, IMO).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I'm hoping they don't do stuff like the stories in the Codex, but it's Ultramarines. I can see Calgar puching a hole through the Avatar and CSM regretting nailing dead Ultramarines to their tanks.

Oh yee of little faith.

C'mon people lets be positive. How cool were the intros to the two DOW games? So if the film is at least as good as those then it should be worth the price of a dvd.

Wont you find it in your hearts to give Ultramarines a chance .

Ultramarines are the poster boys for the franchise, though I agree another chapter would be better.

People bitching because it's "Ultramarines" need to learn to STFU and stop whining.

They're the poster boy for the entire game and possibly the universe.

They're the closest thing 40k has to a "good guy". Yes I know they're not really completely and truly "good guys", but movies like having that kind of distinction between good and evil.

All they need to do is have it be an action fest and it could be entertaining enough to justify the purchase of the DVD.

Hmm...it will be filled with really bad acting, some random killing, Space Marines as good guys and that's about it. But then again, I guess we would be asking too much if we want depth and such for a film about plastic toy soldiers...

More than likely Orks or Bugs. You can get away with a lot more violence if the enemy aren't human.

I am in no way surprised that it's an ultramarines flick, what else would they lead into movies with? Blood angels? Valhallan 597th? Uriel saves the day? This is a logical move for all involved and if it is a success we can probably expect lots of gakky sequels.
However, If I had run of the show...

How awesome would a Minotaurs movie be? A battle cruiser patrolling around the eye of terror is confronted by an alpha legion warship that it must stop. Fierce space battles, dozens of evil marines named Alfarious and their rumored 2nd primarch, teleporting terminator squads dealing death on both ships, leading to the two cruisers crash landing on Cadia where the final battle takes place! This setting can quickly explain: The eye of terror, space travel, terminators vs. standard space marines, Imperial guard, and all sorts of other minutia without going out of it's way to do so... And you get awesome space battles!!!

i look on this as abad thing for gw. they shouldn't do t. i say this because it will be exactly the same as when they made LOTR, loads of people go and see it in cinemas, really enjoy it, then go to GW and say " oh i saw that film!" and buy some 40k. initially this will be a good thing with loads of sales, but they are only doing it coz they saw the film and are not actually interested in the hobby all that much. then the fuss will die down, these people wil Soon get bored and then stop doing 40k, which will lead to a downturn and all in all attract less customers (people get bored say bad things) and overall gw will make a loss. also for the months where people actually come into stires the gaming community will be distilled by unenthusiastic video morons.

They could do the fall of the 1st company. Honestly, the Ultramarines do have flavor and good fluff. I think most people just bash on them because A) They get a lot of attention and thier Xeno army doesn't get as much, B) They get a lot of attention and thier Space Marine chapter doesn't, or C) They just like to complain about every thing they see on the internetz because it seemed like he thing to do at the time. This could be an awesome movie. Yes, it could fail in a most epic way, but it could really succed as well.

Chief has my money for the movie. I can imagine Matt Daemon yelling his name in every scene as well.

This movie will be van damme lame like streetfighter the live action movie was. The only positive is the use of CGI where this wasn't available for our poor french action hero.

I would love to hear ringo starr as the voice of the main ultramarine.

We'll call him Thomas shall we?

Personally, I don't like the Ultramarines because until the last book they just looked aweful.
Call them Ultramarines all you want, but ultramarin is simply not a good color for power-armorerd space warriors.

Thomas the Ultramarine was sitting in the Chapel-Barracks, cleaning his bolter. "Are you going to purge any heretics today?" asked Percy the Salamander.
"Yes," said Thomas. "The Fat Chaplain is going to take us to Sodorus IV to destroy the mutant hordes!"
"That's great!" said Percy. "I'm going to fight the xenos scum with James the Blood Angel and Forgefather Henry!"
