Wouldn't the Blood Bowl game be a sum up front (for the rights to the IP) and maybe a couple bucks off every box sold?
Whereas for the Blood Bowl boxed game, the molds are probably long since paid for so essentially anything above cost of production is profit.
Of course, computer games outsell board games, and there's always the hope that BB would become a 'perennial' that can release a new version every year or two with tweaks to rules, teams, etc.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

BB minis require labor and metal, and are expensive to ship. High operating cost for low profit margin before overhead. With the small volumes that BB sells, GW probably barely breaks even on BB, even if the molds are paid for. Which is why SG doesn't get any promotion any more.
BB computer / video games sell well, and possibly drive some marginal sales from gamers. Which is why GW is 100% right to lock down their IP. And done well, BB can have ongoing computer updates to drive more cash, just like Madden.

I would 'exspect' to take my buisness elsewhere, as GW isnt worthless now after this. GW's IP can rot for all i care. The right thing, heck the only thing that should have been done was to release the LBR without all the bull. instead. oh look GW does it again and makes a crapper out of it, peeving off more fans.
And yes if Tom signed a contract to work on it (free or not), i would exspect some kind of acknowlagement for his efforts in the credits (as GW agreed to have his help in the first place), the fact that there wasnt any credits at all speeks loud and clear of just what kind of company GW is. . .
its actions are deplorable. its a BAD COMPANY, with BAD buisness sense in regards to its customers, and deserves a rollerd newspaper up the side of the head for piddling on the fans.
and the asking for an apology was a joke, there is no way GW would ever come down from its tower to suplicate itself before the masses. .their heads would hemorage from the pressure first. (sorry if you saw the apology as anything but as joke).
in closing: yes i exspected GW to to the right and proper thing. Credit the fan boy for loyal (even now) service for the past 5 years. give the man a 'job well done' rather than a 'kick to the curb'.
Clearer for you?

Did they not do this with regards to the FAQs at least in the past ?
They also hold a thank you day in early December at Warhammer World where they invite people and groups up for the day, give them a nice lunch, a few talks and previews, a "thank you" certificate and so on.

GW losses a lil. will it help in the long run? i can hope it will, cause if it does, Crap like were discussing here wont happen as often. People like tom wouldnt be shafted to the curb. Yeah, but it's easier to ignore facts and history when you just want to be right about something.

They did that this year to a lot of people.
But the certificates didn't say 'thank you'...

You want aggressive? Here's an idea. Firebombing. Would stop GW sales cold, and turn their ill-gotten gains to kindling. Sure, you'd go to jail for arson and attempted murder, but GW would suffer. Or you could just shrug, accept that us little people can't change corporations, and live on.

There's your first problem. There isn't an "answer". Nothing we feeble consumers can do has any effect on Games Workshop. Nothing. The sooner everyone accepts this, the sooner they can stop their follies and give up.
Apathy is the only defensible reaction.

2009 will be a watershed year. The first year that GW put a 'computer game's' profits before 'miniatures' profits. As GW stopped becoming a 'game importer' company and became a miniatures company we have now entered a 'third age'. the first step of a very long voyage has been taken.
Watch this space.

Hawkins stop complaining about GW. Ok so you dont buy their products anymore, good for you, you dont play with their stuff anymore good for you. Now if you could stop wasting bandwidth trying to convince the rest of us GW is bad.
GW is like a drug dealer and we are its dirty little whores. Gw supplies the Crack and we supply GW with our money, so it was from the begging and so it shall be forever more, The emperor wills it.
Just because you have made it through rehab does not meen we also want to go there. I like my crack thankyou very much.
As for the fan boy he knew the risks. It was unpaid work so he did not really lose anything did he?
As for the BB game, it looks craptastic on the PS3. I am not sure many non BB players would actually buy it
