Right, before i have a rant, im going to point out your a much better converter than me. My stuff is generally shocking to say the least.
Now, for your paint scheme, i cant stress enough the need for and undercoat. Seeing as your unifrom consists of black, probably a black spray would really lend itself to your men. It adds instant shading, and makes colours seem less streaky. Also, i think your men may need a boost in the colours department. Give them a red lasgun, something that contrasts heavily.

@Ghosty: This is just the first coat. I plan on going back over and touching up the paint.
(Each guardsmen was painted in less then a minute tbh.)
The guns I planned on doing eitehr silver or gold, as silver would work well with my camo scheme but still stick out, and gold...
well because it's in my name dammit!
I also planned on doing numerical squad markings in red (big red one anybody?) on the shoulders or helmets to break it up.
When it is done, I will have brought some white sploches to the blue clothe and gray streaks to the black armor.

Can't sleep, might as well use dakka.
This is the test scheme for the desert camo. I've pretty much abandoned it, looks horrible.
A conversion made using one of the sentinel arms as a scanner and a hvy. wpn. squad pointy hand.
I made the underslung grenade launcher by clipping and filing a bolter. I also clipped the lasgun muzzle of to make it look more like an M4.
A sniper rifle conversion I made using the bipod from the scout hvy bolter, a bolter clip, binoculars, and two lasguns.
This is the best pic I've gotten of the pistol grip shotgun so far. Hop it comes out as clear as it's supposed to.

Oh it will be bitchin.
Also, Papa Bear and I had a conversation yesterday.
I'll be ordering the tanks this weekend probaly. You sure you wanna spend you're money on them? You don't have to buy tanks just because I said I liked them.
YAY!!!
We still are doing a bit of shopping around to find the best price.
I'm thinking I'll need to pick up a few legs to make the dismounted models for the BAIL OUT! rule, but other then that, everything is going exactly as planned.

The tank crew torsos and heads work great with standard Cadian legs (or the legs on the tank sprue). I've got some tank crews done up on my blog if you need inspiration

When I finish unpacking everything at my new place (Yea, I moved and it's a way bigger place! I even have a crazy snobbish neighbor! ) I painted that half-finished Lemon Rust from a while back and a Dreadnazi. Now I just gotta finish the last 20 marines and my SM Command Squad and I'm set.

Pic of some of my terrain projects, with the hvy. weapon perched on top.
Auto Cannon
Beside the firer is a PDW I made using a lasgun.
I chopped the muzzle, and glued a bolter magazine to the side after removing the lasgun magazine.
I used a chainsword arm, minus the blade to make it look like he's got a brass knuckle.
Missle Launcher
I'm really happy with this one. The guy with the launcher just oozes awesome to me.
He ain't no pansy, he stands up like a man and fires his bazooka!
The other was a simpler conversion, all I really did was file the binoculars down.
Another PDW. Filed off the muzzle, glued a bolter muzzle in it's place. Replaced the powercell with a bolt clip, and filed off the sights.
Heavy Bolter
A more traditional pose for this squad.
Off to the side can be seen the ever popular shotgun.
Another shot of the shotgun. The scout frame is endlessly recyclable.

I'd comment on the Desert camo...but I can't tell what the heck is going on.
Scout, take a pencil and ruler and put them in your photo box. Start off at roughly a foot, and gradually move in marking off the points as you go.
Once you get the clearest photo you can--erase the other marks and keep it set up that way. Another good thing to do is to turn off autoflash, and use a desk lamp aimed from behind you at the models.

I don't exactly have a photobox. I just stuck a few pieces of white paper up to the side of my desk and started taking photos.
I no longer use the flash either.
I instead use a light that can be clipped onto things for the lighting. I've also tried opening the windows behind me to let in natural light, but that doesn't do much of anything.
But I'll definately use your advice.
Also, is a photobox easy to make?

Take a cardboard box and some plain white office paper. After sorting out how you're going to evenly cover the whole inside of the box, use a gluestick to coat one side of each sheet and sick it in place. Let the glue dry, then cut out a hole in the top for a daylight lamp/bulb.

Cool, thanks guys! .
Also, looked in my toolbox at the army.
I no longer feel so daunted.
All I have left to build is
1 Scout (one dude, not squad.)
Eddie The Head(see one my other threads.)
Sniper
Scouts/Recon (think my crouching guy with grenade launcher)
Left to Paint:
1 standard bearer
2 flamer troops
1 melta troop
5 scouts
2 recon troops
You'll be seeing these update in time. Automatically Appended Next Post:
I know the lighting is terrible on these ones, I literally took them two minutes ago.
Just to give you an idea of how far I've come in since I started this thread.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'll have pics up tommorow, waiting for the glue to dry right now.
I made one version of my sentinel pilot, armed with las pistol and ccw.

Haven't looked at the minis in a while, been too busy with the last days of school.
When I got the chance today, I noticed a few conversions that I didn't realize I made.
I finished the scout squad, complete with heavy bolter. Attached to it is a chainsword. (Gears of War?)
I also found two small terrain pieces that had heavy bolters glued to them.
I've searched back, and believe the reason i don't remember making them is because I was drinking and modelling a few weekends back.
For the most part, I'm actaully pretty happy with them.
I figure I'll use the heavy bolters as traps in cities fo death, and the hvy bolter scout has it attached to cut through undergrowth.
Pics soon.
