I'm thinking I might want to be getting into the fantasy game sooner or later.
If not to play, to at least make some conversions.
I'm thinking of picking up the Empire wizards to make some psycher/priest conversions
or the General to use some of the cool looking pieces.
Any ideas?

I have seen the empire wizards be turned into primaris psykers. cheack the gallery for examples.
Emprie Flagellents make good psyker battle squads.
The general kit does have some good bits in it I guess. but what would you use it for?
empire preists are good for making...preists , a quick weapon swap and your good to go, in the gallery somebody made a evisorator for an empire preist.
hope this helps

The wizard and empire general kits are both great for making interesting guard characters... I've used bits from both in my guard force without too much fiddling.
The wizard just needs a few scroll tubes and a pistol; the General kit has lots of bits that mix/match fairly easily with standard Cadian bodies for a posh looking uniform

I've been playing Jericho alot lately. A decent enough game imo, worth a rental or buy if it's used. Why am I telling you this? Because I plan on making a sniper conversion to represent Abigail Black. I'm not too sure how I'll do it, but I'll find a way. If it goes well, I'll make a conversion of Father Rawlings and Simone Cole. Why? Cause they are my favorite characters. Also, I'm considering starting a beatsmen "count as guard" army to bring in the enemies Jericho squad faces in the Box. Thoughts? Ideas, Tips are always welcome.

I finished the game today. . They got Simone. .
I wasn't that big a fan of Delcado (min gun dude) cause his power took for freakin ever to recharge. It was useful though dealing with those exploding cultist feths.
And Billie (ninja chick) wasn't that bad, but she had alot more potential ingame that was wasted.
My proposed ideas for Abbie are as follows:
1) Take a Vindicare and replace the head witha female one. Green stuffing and filling will be required.
2) Using other gaming systems (suggestions are appreciated), then gsing a figure to look like black.
And the ideas for Father Rawlings
1) Commisar figure, and replace the ccw with an extra pistol
2) Using the command squad great cot legs, and gsing some stuff to finish the look.
And if anybody could suggest ideas for how to build Simone, it's much appreiciated.

I'm not. It's good enough to meet my standards at least.
I also only spent about three minutes on each guardsmen.
I am planning on stripping them and starting over. Eventually.

Sorry; its all that came to mind reading you guys rail on this poor kid.
Speakin of the kid; GES, first come on dude finish painting! The camo painting look good, but the codex grey just looks unfinished!
That said, we all start off with poor hands and worse eyes, but we just gotta keep plugging away at models one after the other trying new techniques and such. Choose a model to spend some time on though; one that you want to look good and won't be upset having put several hours into. That's what I do when I'm starting a new scheme, first few models will take a couple hours until the scheme is finished and then start production lining that scheme til its only taking 20-30 minutes a model; of course that's for infantry, tanks still always take me a few hours, cause I spend too much time weathering them .

@GES: mark my words, when you get older, you'll learn that it's not a race, and you'll find that it's better for everybody if you take your time and enjoy yourself. If you think you're going to finish too quickly, just stop what you're doing for a moment, catch your breath, and then start back up again. You'll find you get much better results that way, and everybody ends up much more satisfied.

The first part sounds like a backhanded complement. But I'll take it. I still need to find the stuff to strip my models with, then I'm investing in spray paint, and taking this army to a whole new level baby! Also, which spray paint color would work best :black, white, or gray like Kanluwen suggested? RiTides wrote:@JWDD: Erhm... yeah! Very cool thread . I decided to redo some of the fluff. Jericho's Reach Planetary Survey Population: 3 Million Class: Developing Agri World, Winter World Tithe Grade: 78% of Agricultural Harvest, 65% of Cattle Raised, Imperial Guard Tithe: 500,000 Troopers to be raised by end of 815. M41 Location: The planetoid of Jericho’s Reach is located in Segmentum Obscurus, within the Halo Stars, orbiting a large gas giant, known as Threshold. Planetary Geography: Slightly larger then Terra, Jericho’s Reach primary landmass is the western continent, which is located primarily in the northern hemisphere, but a small portion of lies below the equator. Seven others can also be found, with three proving to be habitable. The two polar continents have small populations, of miners and researchers. Planetary Seasons: The erratic orbit of the planetoid produces strange weather conditions and harsher seasons. Nine Terran months of the year, the planet experiences a harsh winter. With only three months to meet their tithes of food, the summer months are spent almost entirely engaged in agriculture, using the flood water from the melted snow to tend their crops. Planetary History: Jericho’s Reach is considered to be a rather young planet, having been a part of the Imperium for only 200 years. In actuality, Imperials living on the planetoid date back seven thousand years, with humans livening there dating back to the Stellar Exodus, albeit having become tribal wanderers with a low technology base. Colonized in the year 221M.34, hope for the planet was low. A small Imperial presence to supply a proposed space station that would mine the nearby gas giant designated LIS-10-27. Before construction of the station could begin, a freak warp storm enveloped the planet for five thousand years. Cut off from the Imperium, and with only a few permanent settlements built, the colonists waged war against one another to control the vital structures. Many lost their lives in the battles, and the few that survived soon realized their folly. They had unintentionally destroyed the buildings they were fighting for. Those that survived were led by former soldier Chris Jericho. Banding together, they retreated to the western continent. At the time, the only settlements that remained were a small spaceport, and with winter fast approaching, Jericho’s band needed to act fast. Immediately, the colonists set about gathering building materials from the as of yet unexplored forests. It was on one of these missions the colonists came in contact with the original tribes from the very first landing. Seeking to make allies to survive the harsh winter, Jericho did all in his power to befriend the tribes. By his efforts, the colonists were accepted into the tribes. And not a moment too soon. The winter came, harsher then ever before. The tribes taught hunting and trapping, and Imperial robes soon were replaced by warm furs. When nine months had passed, much had changed. Only those able to adapt to the harsh tribal existence had survived. With three months free of worry ahead of them, the now tribal colonists contemplated their next move. Buildings were erected, fields dug, and life became easier for the tribesmen willing to change. When the planet was rediscovered, the Imperium was wary. How had this world survived in so desolate a region? How had it done so, even with a warp storm cutting all communication from the Imperium off? Many believed the only answer to be that the people of Jericho’s reach had turned to Chaos. But when planetfall was made, the Inquisition’s Purge troops found themselves greeted by civilized, if primitive looking, Imperial citizens. Colonization has been underway yet again, and the planet has high hopes. Notable Units: 7th Ghost Division, 667th Mechanised Scout Division I have come up with a few plans for conversion to be filed under the "For Poops and Giggles" catergory. Brother Maynard: Weilding the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, Brother Maynard brings the light of the Emporer to the Galaxy. As well as shrapnel. I decided to go with a bit more of a feudal look for them. Expect to see some minor conversions such as beards, moustaches and whatnot. More notciable ones will be me making psykers that look like shamans and what not. And yes, I'm a huge Chris Jericho fan.

I took you advice. I took my converted MOO who was as of yet unpainted. I then spent about an hour painting him in stages. I think it looks pretty good. I had my appointment with the Navy recruiters today. I'm thinking Seabee, specifically builder, steelworker, or equipment operator.
I took the practice ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)and scored high enough that if I do go in, I can get builder without a doubt.
She said she expects my score to improve by at least ten points when I take the whole thing, and epossibly another five if I take a few more math courses.
Why am I posting this? Because when I was in the recruiters office, they pointed out the Navy camo uniform. (I was stupidly wearing my desert BDUs as they pointed out.)
When my painting skills get up to snuff, I might try and attempt to make Navy camo.
And back on topic:
I was talking to the recruiter, and was suddenly struck with an idea when she mentioned EOD (Explosive Ordanance Disposal).
Why not make an Orkish EOD Tech? I figure I can put whatever the hell I feel like on it, since who the hell knows what an Ork would use for a bomb?
Gonna sketch out an idea later tonight.

GES, look at my Canadian Cadian. From a distance, it appears he's wearing CADPAT, which would be an absolute nightmare to paint. but all I did was use a frayed small drybrush to apply scorpion green, Dark Angels Green, and Vermin Brown in a stippling fashion. The 'spattering' effect around the edges of each dab makes it look like digital camo, even though I didn't use any -real- pixellating method, and from a distance you can't really tell that I cheaped out plus, if I'm sitting at my kitchen table and looking over to my army shelf, I can't see him hidden amongst my collection of tightly packed GF9 trees. It turned out that well If you want to do a set of Navy ACUs, follow the same method. Use a small drybrush and stipple the paint in layers according to the arrangement of the ACU pattern. In this case, start with a blue (Ultramarines with some Codex Grey might give you that base shade ). this is your basecoat. Paint the entire uniform with it. Then, refer back to your referance image for the next colour. in this case, I would do the light grey. I'd probably go with either space wolf grey or fortress grey, as they look very close to the grey on the pattern once dry. using your referance, stipple some grey areas onto the basecoat. Next, take some of the same grey you just used and pour a bit into a mixing cup or a soda bottle lid. mix in some azurman blue wash (or whatever the hell it's called) to get that "faded denim" shade, and then stipple that on so that each spot partially covers the light grey to some extent (again, use your referance image) Last, use midnight blue or chaos black and add some small, fine lines in random areas on and around the stippled patterns. Use these dark lines sparingly, as they seem sparse on the referance. Paint gloves, boots weapon, and skintones - voila. You're done. Yea, it would be murder to do a whole army like this (My Canadian Cadian took me most of the day - though I took numerous lengthy beer breaks during the process), but it would look great for some vets or something. Or if you're insane and you plan on doing an entire army in it anyway, I say good on ya!

I've decided to completely strip this army. i don't like the paintjob I gave it, even the ones that i spent time and worked hard on.
I'm going to also remove the bits that have been glued on till further notice.
As for my commander, he's getting demoted to being a sergeant.
I'm thinking of ordering aother army box and combining the two. Time will tell what i end up doing.
For now though (aside from a few bits of fluff every now and then), consider this blog on hold.

"No Self, what?"
"Make another one, to represent the original settlers of the planet!"
"Gee Self, that sounds like a good idea. You're so smart."
Bit of an exageration of how I came up with the latest idea for my regiment.
