Congratulations Guys, it was an awesomely inspiring project and I commend you all for your dedication with a pinch of insanity. The armies all look cracking, I think next years project should be an entire apoc army though between all of you. Maybe a hundred strong Death Company, lol.

Conrats again guys and try not to dream of painting to much.

Well I fell asleep right after I asked where the results where I cant even stay up past 1230 anymore, damn children

Thats pretty impressive though, and your armies dont look like they were just hammered out ina few days. If I had to do that, Id be cutting corners like a mofo. Hell the wayI paint Ork skin now would take too long to finish in a weekend. Congrats on getting it done, and good luck on your first games

So we got a few games in today at the guardtower, to celebrate our accomplishment.

Brian, a fellow Necron player, put up fisticuffs and we went at it! He likes the Nightbringer better, but I enjoy the Deceiver, so it was a battle to see which non-present entity was theoretically better, lol!

My destroyers somehow failed to manage to kill a 6 strong scarab unit, which promptly charged them and held them up. Luckily, the monolith was nearby to suck them out of combat. I then killed the stupid scarab. )

My Scarabs and Lord pulled the same trick, and got stuck in with his destroyers. Monolith particle whipped a unit of 8 pariahs and killed every single one!

Nobody killed much on either side, but holding up his destroyers allowed mine to float around the battlefield with impunity.

Silly game. Both monoliths ended up right next to each other, immobilized, and with not much to do began particle whipping each other as warriors milled about under them.

Necron Warrior vs. Necron Warrior: In Space, you can only hear the clinking of silverware.

In the end, I ended up winning 5 KP to 3 KP.

Tim's first game of the day was Hyde, and he set up his Mech Guard in the city.

Hyde started crying when he saw the lack of LOS blocking terrain on the board.

Hyde made it across to tickle Tim, but couldn't do much. In the end, Tim beat Hyde by blowing his brains out. 88|

Steve and Parker squared off for their first game, and Blood Angels outflanked all over the guard...

... but in the end couldn't hold enough objectives, giving Steve the win!

Well I am still tired and gotta go to bed, but I'll get some more pics of game two up tomorrow.

I really enjoyed reading this thread and love the work done by all the parties involved.

This brings me back to my younger days and spending marathon paint sessions with a couple buddies of mine. We never attempted anything of this scale though.

I'm getting ready to start on a tyranid army and have found inspiration in Hyde's tyranids. I haven't seen those colors before and the yellow really stands out against the bone color in a very good way. I think I'm going to have to steal that paint scheme from him.

Cheers to you all on a job well done!

After all that Dr pepper for this HUGH project. Does Diet Dr pepper really taste like regular Dr Pepper??

No.

It has it's own flavor. Very good for a diet drink, actually. It's the only diet soda (or any soda) I buy, other than Coke Classic for my Run and Cola...

On topic, Congrats, guys. While I also spent most of my 30day weekend painting and modeling, I didn't get quite as much done.

There must have been something in the air.

Game number 2 saw me matched up with Tim's mighty Imperial guard.

I certainly had my work cut out for me, as he had a squadron of 3 russes, a demolisher, an executioner and 2 vendettas with veterans packing melta and plasma inside. Almost all of his weapons ignored my armor and in lots of cases make it so I won't be back! XX(

Tim stole the initiative and got to go first, but luckily most of my stuff was out of LOS and he only managed to kill 5 scarab bases.

I responded by charging forward, covering the Necron Lords advance by stunning and shaking the demolisher and executioner. With no one on hit right flank able to fire, I was fairly safe from the rest of his russes.

The necron warriors in the woods were taking a pounding from the russes, but they did their job by distracting him from the real threat. The lord and scarabs immobilized the demolisher and ripped of all of the important guns, while the executioner was shot until it could no longer fire.

Tim's vendettas proved troublesome, as the veterans were able to down lots of destroyers. luckily I made some good WBB rolls, and was able to annihilate one of his squads, and immobilized the one on the right flank.

The necron lord got into it with the demolisher and wrecked it, but got flamed by the devil dog. Luckily he didn't die, and even had a scarab swarm left over as well. The next two turns saw the lord destroy the downed vendetta, then he went back to explode the devil dog.

the monolith tried to run interference for my remaining warriors by blocking LOS and particle whipping things, but Tim continued to try and get me to phase out.

My warriors had to take one last barrage on turn 6, but only lost one necron after the went to ground. It was close, at this point Tim only had to take out 4 more necrons to phase me.

Everybody else decided to hide, especially the necron lord and scarab base, as they each only had 1 wound left on them!

After the dust settled, we counted the KP and found that I just barely scratched out a win! I ended up with 5 KP, and Tim managed to get 4. Tough game, but my purple toasters pulled it out. :>>

Hyde and Parker start rolling dice for their game two, Tyranids vs. Blood Angels.

Parker was a crazy man, deepstriking things all over the place, which the tyranids enjoyed eating. After that, they went after and slaughtered the terminators.

The final rounds of the game saw the bugs all over the objective, wiping out the tactical squad in the open.

Parkers fire support got caught by a few different units, and they promptly ripped off all of the important bitz, selling them to the highest bidder.

Well that is it for all of the army in a weekend stuff, although I am spending this week finishing up the 'crons to take them to the hobby tournament this saturday. I'll be posting pics of that tourney as well, so make sure you visit 40kbasement.com and check it out!

Thanks,

So awesome, loved it all guys. Thinking that I may have to do a similar self challenge soon just to get some stuff done.

On a related topic next time should be consider making this a more forum wide event? So those of us not in Ohio can try to compete via this crazy series of tubes?

So, you would want me to advertise about it ahead of time, so every one can update their progress in the thread? It's an interesting idea and could be lots of fun. Guess I'd have to post the "official rules" lol, not that there really is any such thing.

Basically I was just reposting what I put up on my site anyways, but I'll keep that in mind next memorial day and let others jump in if they want to try their hand at painting while being sleep deprived!

Thanks,
