Its just sprayed white and then washed gryphonne sepia just making sure you dont blotch it. Easy.

Here's my Nurgle Dread 'Phox'

Luna: While that is not my model, i do know how to wash a large flat area without leaving excess behind.

There is a pretty simple trick to it that makes it alot easier.

Simply drag the wash down the surface, towards a single edge, keep doing this until the surface area is done.
Aslong as you keep it moving in the same direction, it wont blotch.
If it does, use a dry paint brush to gently wip over it (going the same way as before) and it will remove it easily.

Once the surface area is done you will have a little excess build-up on the edge you dragged it to.
Simply use a dry paint brush again to pick up the excess wash.

I've added a few details since I took this picture, I feel like the face is still a bit plain though. I'm hoping to get it painted within the week.

I have just finished a librarian dreadnought and a techmarine dread for fun, don't know what I'm going to do rules wise for him yet. I gave him melta gun for cutting and welding and a twin linked plasma gun in place of a gun servitor. The librarian dread weapon is from a kotobuykia (spelling is totally off on that) weapons pack number 13 which also has a massive chainsaw.

@Teek the flames came off great on your deff dread I think I have found some inspiration there!

Here are some Killa Kanz i haven't quiet finished with yet but what the heck. These models have been a blast to build and paint and are so much better that the metal ones.

@Oronico- Thanks, that has given me some ideas. I don't think I'll take it quite that direction, but it's at least got me thinking more along the lines of wires/circuits/piping etc. Thanks! I'm really liking your techmarine dread too, those are the arms from from the suit in Aliens, right?

@Luna, Bloody, Von Horus- You got it, hehe. I really liked the idea of a giga drill breaker blood lance. I've got a Yoko in the works too, but I'll start up a new thread once I've got everything put together so as not to derail this too much.

Here's my first ever scratch build - Malkhor, 1 K sons dreadnaught. Ah, the days when I thought wood and hot glue were all I needed. And Coruscating Warp Fire let a tzneetch dread tear through a horde of orks or tyranids...



And Castor and Polix - though I use them as obliterators, actually.

Nice use of the head on that Dreadnought *cough*obliterator*cough*.
