great work Scorp! looks excellent, you've really hit on a signature technique for your army and my god it works well! love the las and the subtle conversions, be honest with us though, that didn't get done start to finish in a night did it?.....i'll cry if it did!

Nice job on the latest razorback scorp. I also like how you made the top hatch for the driver a single piece instead of the usual centre split two pieces.

Cheers guys, Glad you liked the razorback. Hadn't really seen any of them I liked from memory and I had all of the spare bits to do it that way. Eggroll, the hatch game out of necessity, I made a mistake and needed to graft it together to cover up a bit of damage to the hull. Turned out alright though eh?

You better start crying Damo, one single evening from about 6:30pm to 1:30am going flat out (But slow enough to pause and take photos to make a tutorial).

Nearly done, just finishing up the infantry not present in the picture now:

@nerdfest09 the thing that takes longest about making/painting a tank is gluing it all together and getting the base colours on. Once that's done, the weathering is actually quite a nice process that takes very little time to get something looking really damaged

Looking very nice. Really like the look of the pig iron heads on the scouts.

Finished it Friday night at 12am in the morning, gamed with it all day on Saturday at the tournament and managed to snag myself best painted army.

I really felt my display board let me down as some of the other guys had incredibly elaborate displays. I know for next time I need to do more there (And objectives markers) but I had to put my time into the painting.

Spectacular work... normally I would call that much weathering over the top, but you've done it with such naturalistic finesse that it really, really works. Continuing it to the infantry was a critical step most people skip... Great stuff!

That display board isn't doing them justice though, need some texture variation in there, everything looks dusted, but lacks a touch of realism, this is exasperated by how realistic your tanks look in contrast lol!

I agree with you on the display board. I felt it let me down but as the army was for the most part painted in a fortnight I found myself with very very little time to do anything.

I made this and the tokens within the space of an hour and it shows. In the future though I will be making something that matches them better and allows more space between the models so they are able to be seen a lot better and not just crammed in there.

Big fan of that drop pod, you are one of the few people I've seen actually paint in the fact that the top has a big jet on it and paint tends to burn off from heat like that well done.

Your army shot is great! loving the look of them together, i'd love to see some shots taken with your models as they do in the forge world books as if they are in battle! would be epic dude the flying dust, shouted commands over the din of battle, bolters with the deep chattering of the emperors wrath, the fragmented silhouette of traitors being bodily launched into the air by the ironclad..... Do it now!

Speaking of the dreadnought, I bloody love it! looks fantastic with the weathering, I can see it getting stuck in right quick!

Glad you won best painted force, it's looking really nice all together like that. The board is, mostly, pretty good. I'd say some things like bits of tall grass (brush bristles) or scrub would have added a bit more to it... but at least you've now got a stunning force to build up from for next time around

I gotta say ... you deserved the best painted award. You did a really nice job on the weathering and i too love the pig iron scout heads. Way cool. I do agree that the display board does not even remotely sit with the level of your army. The Rocks are just too smooth and regular in appearance. I am no master crafter but i do know a thing or too. If i might without being to presumptuous...

Try mixing really fine sand with the base color paint that you are using for your rock pillars and paint that on to them. it conveys a more irregular look. Im a biologist and i spend a lot of time in the outdoors. rock would likely never weather the way that it did on those pillars. They are also shiney. Definitly this stands out against the muted color of the soil that you are depicting. It looks like you are shooting for a Mars style martian look. Also... while the raised hill in the back of your display is a necessity for your display, it too suffers from the shine and the regularity. Try deepening the erosion on the sides of the little hill and adding some irregularly sized rocks here and there to break up the uniformity of it. Also... it could use the paint/sand mixture to add more deapth to the soil texture. Lastly ... get rid of the yellow blotch on the left foreward corner. it does not fit.

Beyond the harsh critique of your battle board, i really feel you have one of the best looking armies that i have seen in a while. Beautiful work. Dont let my review of your battleboard have any bearing on your overally opinion of the work that you have done. Your models are fantastic. Sincerly.... Sennacherib.

You do in all honesty have one of my favorite and well painted armies out there on the web! just the attention to detail and use of differing methods to produce a uniform and hardy force, helped by the jump of using a chapter that while is supported to a degree gave you some rope to create a feel for them that suits you as a person and gamer!

Now, are we going to see some tutorials for weathering powders and such?

Well I have a contemptor on my desk right now getting glued together as I type this. I've also just ordered some more resin bases to start converting some of the other guys over to this weathering scheme and base style.

I have to put the finishing few touches to a Daemon Prince I have been painting for a charity auction so I will post that as well and there are always my world eaters, warmachine, infinity and malifaux to post at some stage as well.

All I can say is... stay tuned?! Haha..

I think they're posting the weathering tutorial in a couple of hours which I am looking forward to, I haven't actually seen it arranged in an online format yet as I sent them off plain text and url's on Monday night.
