You have to remember something: some of the "lies" that Fox perpetuates are not as simple as they are not speaking the actual truth.

Fox is a network which is built upon an emotional foundation. Their particular brand of "truthiness" is a very difficult one to negate, simply because they do not go into specifics in many things. They wrap themselves in the guise of "patriotism" and appeal to the public to "draw their own conclusions".

They do not report the news. They report a broad overview of events in such a way that it is nothing more than a series of leads towards conclusions. However, this is not uncommon for American media. There's a reason that conspiracy theories are so prevalent here in the United States; and that reason is that people want to supply their own interpretation of events.

Let's look at some of the journalism scandals involving integrity:

While their actions are despicable, "they do it too" is not a defense for the ridiculous nature of Fox News network.

And thats where the statistics come in. Too many controls to manipulate. we should be able to see all the variables that are "controlled" on how they are controlled. Partisanship is controlled? How? Why?

Interestingly, one could aruge the Egyptian government didn't fall until...today.

I never used the "they do it to" to defend anyone. I intended to show that the two biggest journalistic breaches of integrity I could find in recent years did not come from Fox. I've also showed a chart that shows independents see Fox as reliable as CNN in an earlier post.

Someone else has claimed Fox is the worst, lies the most, and gets paid to do so. I want proof. I want stats.

How about we just say that potentially ALL news agencys can potentially be bias and 'mis-report' stuff from time to time.

I've actually seen Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann both admit reporting errors they,
or their (MSNBC) network, had made. before the show was over once. I've never seen any
such behavior from FOX over clear errors. No one is perfect. i get that. But when you say something
that isn't true, knowing or other, then don't correct it, it's called being dishonest. and It's Fox's M.O.
Yes, i have watched lots of both mentioned networks. Glen Beck used to be the funniest hour on TV!
he was on HLN, not CNN before Fox. it's still a branch of CNN though.

I'm not sure that Fox really manipulates its viewers so much as plays to their existential preferences, and that, despite their success, they aren't really very good at it. Fox has been successful due to uniqueness, it is the only unabashed conservative news source on television so its gets that entire part of the market, and its tendency to aim at the lowest common denominator in terms of message.

I'd also say that its unlikely that Fox creates uninformed viewers, but instead that uninformed viewers tend to watch Fox.
