The "news" you get from ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox is all info-tainment.

Yes, The Sun and the Daily Mail are the two highest circulating newspapers in the UK and they are both total rags. Being #1 is a reflection of being popularist, it's not really a sign of quality either way. As it happen though, the Sun is number one because it largely fills the papers with tits and gossip.

The largest media company on the planet is also one of the least yellow conglomerates. People will pay for actual news.

And if a fox embedded reporter is there he's there to say how brave you are and talk about the risks of not staying in the country past the pull out date. Al Jazeera is generally better when reporting on local news disconnected from the war in Afghanistan and significantly better in regards to reporting on local governmental issues then fox (who seemingly vet absolutely nothing). It was impressive to see the hoops fox was backflipping through during the Israeli-floatilla incident as compared to what Al Jazeera was reporting "there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza". Outside of the mideast they're generally a few bars above fox in almost all regards, though truly few news agencies can match fox for yellow bias (RT and Chinese state TV coming to mind) in international affairs reporting (socialism hurr).

A lot of this could simply be due to the fact that the republican party and their platform (which fox is the mouthpiece for) isn't particularly referential to reality at times, thus things reported with an extreme conservative bias are reported incorrectly.

Maybe every news caster works like Fox? To paraphrase the late, great Bill Hicks:

Al Jazeera reporters get killed all the time. They're offices have been repeatedly shelled by American forces and their primary office in Baghdad was hit by a cruise missile. They're also not particularly popular with Al-Queda or the ISI (similar to western journalists) who will target them specifically as often as they will talk with them.
