VERY WRONG.
Fixed that for you, heck I was partially hoping when 6e came out Dark Angels would become C: SM as was another DA player I know (and several on here).....if nothing else I think Dark Angel players may be the least loyal to the army considering how many picked up C: SM to play them during 5th (and really that right there should tell you something, GK didnt do that, heck I didnt even hear of BA doing that during their codex drought, same with Space Wolves, or BT)
Aanyway....
I take it you missed the great BA exodus of late 5th ED which has continued well into 6th?
I feel sorry for the BA because literally every codex that was released after the BA was better than the BA - check the list from wikipedia beneath.
If you're still playing BA now, then you're a die-hard fan and may have an internet cookie

No one's invoked Godwin's Law as far as I can see so why bring it up? I also wouldn't go as far as calling SOB players 'abused'; a bit extreme perhaps.

I think it was Poe's Law that we were more likely to have ended up triggering more than anything.
Regardless it's well time to leave that dead horse buried for once.

Fine, a stage back from it, but the moment someone tells someone who is objecting to being belittled and insulted to shut up, you're already on the path to the 'final solution'.
I won't single out the person who actually said that - you can go back and read the thread if you want to know - since it's against the rules.

I would say you're oversimplifying what was said, omitting half the argument in an attempt to seem persecuted. I also think your comment with respect to the Final Solution is really uncalled for and not relevant to the discussion at all. Comparing your "woes" as a SOB player even remotely to that or to the path that led to it shows a distasteful trivialisation of such a horrific event in history on your part.

It would be between Orks and SoB bar none. SoB dont have nearly as many fans as orks, which speaks to how dedicated their remaining fans are (what with the lack of new gak).
However ork players are a different kind of dedicated. They generally have fun no matter what happens in the game (generally speaking of course). The pure randomness of the codex and amount of personality in the lore is reflected on the tabletop and in the players oftentimes. Though I am biased so take it all with a grain of salt.

I'm not comparing my woes as an SoB player to the persecution of the Jews, I'm saying that other people are walking a dangerous path that can lead to similar results. The moment someone starts telling someone to stop defending themself from insults, they've already started dehumanising the other party. That path only leads one way. Yes, in this case they're doing it in reference to a game and players, but I can't stand by and let someone start thinking that's an OK way to act towards anyone.
Today, they're telling the players of a certain faction in a game to shut up and stop complaining just because we've had some rough times. Tomorrow, they could be doing the same to homosexuals, muslims or women.

It's hardly like the idea dehumanises people. It makes sense: if SOB players were to ignore people attacking them for over defensiveness then overtime such accusations would be undermined. It certainly doesn't lead to a slippery slope of suppressing the free speech of women, muslims or homosexuals on the part of the person recommending such action. It's nothing more than advice.

While it's certainly not as bad sexism or racism, the same "mechanics" are still there, and are just as irrational. SoB players were de-individualised, were defined by negative stereotypes and a nice little "us and them" thing got started. These things are no more rational or fair than they usually are. Banzaimash wrote:It makes sense: if SOB players were to ignore people attacking them for over defensiveness then overtime such accusations would be undermined
I think that you're being too argumentative yourself. It's certainly giving me similar impressions of you that you're trying to apply to SoB players.

Telling fellow wargamers to shut up and quit complaining =/= telling a minority group to shut up and quit complaining.... you take the hobby faaar to seriously.

Wow. This degenerated relatively briskly.
I don't know any sisters players, so can't throw any weight on either side of this, but bringing up real-life sexual and religious persecution and the Holocaust is going a long way down the wrong sort of road as far as a hobby is concerned.

Yeah, things have gotten a bit dramatic ITT.
Bringing up the Holocaust and such was probably a bit far. But in terms of how discrimination in general works, it's the same logic that some posters are using towards SoB players.

Let's maintain some perspective please people.

I've been playing Sisters since 3rd edition when I first started playing 40k. Though I play other armies, Sisters will always be my favorite owing to their uniqueness in the 40k universe and that they're a beautiful army on the tabletop.
From my experience, Sisters fans are the most loyal...
