T6.

So fast (initativewise), rerolling 2+ to wound and AP2

And likely 3 Attacks (+1 TW & +1 charge) @ WS3.

It's a unit that doesn't know what it wants to do, which is often the case with our monsters. It wants to be in combat but doesn't have the attacks nor the WS to do well enough. There was a rumor that one of these new guys was 4+ Sv which means it's going to have a hard time staying alive.

Hopefully, I'm all wrong.

And they give it some mix of rampage (GW seems to love handing this out these days), infiltrate or 12" move, WS5, 3+ Sv, FNP, something else

It's speed in movement are the critical things here though. Otherwise you're better off with a Dimachaeron 100% of the time.

The toxicrene looks very cool- not sure on the psychic version- the ones at the back seem to have a better pose. Interested to see different/better pics.

I'm hoping that Terminator isn't attached to the claw. Otherwise looking good.

I like the new pic of the psychic one- looks much more menacing. They seem a lot more weird than other Nid beasties - which is a good thing.

That'll be the much better colour scheme. I don't know why they keep pushing Leviathan all the time, the pale white just makes everything look plasticy and toy-like.

I know I hate that scheme is really makes the models look like crap- the darker scheme works so much better plus the angle of that pic gives a better impression of the overall shape.

Agreed that the leviathan scheme is terrible. The psychic beast looks so much better in red and black

I am definitely in the minority, I like the Leviathan scheme. I think mainly because my other armies are red and I don't like the Target employee look of the Kraken scheme.

Translating the description from french , here's an interesting tidbit about the Maleceptor:
"The chubby body of the maleceptor is used as a shielded platform to hold a monstrous brain with 6 lobes designed to destroy vehicles like living beings by using psychic powers "

OMG !!! If this unit is as effective as what it sounds like it can do, then I will be the happy owner of 3 of those babies !

The rumours said their was two tyranids beast released. Does any one knows if it's supposed to be two different box (meaning we would get another beast next week) or if that's all we got for the nids ?

From the rumours is has the "impressive" ability to cause a single glancing hit on a vehicle, if it manages to cast, if it hits, and if the vehicle rolls over 10 on 3d6. Fluff and rules do not align

The initial rumour post made it sound like the single glance was in addition to the vehicle taking a leadership on 3d6.

Ah, I read the fact it specified wounds for the d3 bit as that being unique to non-vehicles

If we look at the terminator he's in purple armour with a red helmet. Soul Drinker possibly? The other models are shown stepping on Blood Angels. This would be a good tie in leading into a Blood Angels release.

As for the group shot, if you look at the carapace and tongue, it does seem that the back monsters are the same as the front but in a different pose. Hopefully this means that it will be a more pose-able kit than thought.

Which is tragic because you're generally better off with anything but a Dima 100% of the time - speed is the biggest problem for TMCs. Assault TMCs will virtually never see combat if on foot. The reason Dakkafexes, Tyrants and Exocrines are coming out so much is their range...

I can't be the only one thinking that Braniac is the most boring 'Nid model GW's released in ages.

Didn't we already establish it was a glance plus the leadership thing?

Toxicrene for a poison-beast > Angron for an angry guy.

While not an exact match per say, "Toxicrine" is apparently an actual word.

Seems to be referring to an organ system that responds to pollutants, which actually is somewhat fitting given what the creature does.

How come it's always dead Space Marines on the base instead of Imperial Guardsmen, Eldar Dire Avengers or some such? Is this the Worf Effect at play or do they just look cool on the ground?

From what I've seen all we have is:

It has the psychic power psychic overload, which is a 24" focused witchfire. target must take a leadership test on 3d6 and vehicles count as leadership 10, failure causes d3 wounds no armor or cover saves allowed, and a causes a single glancing hit to vehicles, no cover save allowed. The maleceptor can do psychic overload three times a round, but cannot target the same model twice.

Now aside from the poor wording of "and a causes" it can easily be read either way. I'm leaning toward the D3 wounds vs non-vehicles or a glancing hit vs vehicles interpretation, otherwise it seems odd that it is "better" against vehicles (D3+1 Glance)

Because it is a lot easier to sculpt a space marine casualty than it is to do a human or eldar- smaller, squishier casualties would need to be more gory to look like actual tyranid casualties.
