Use spoilers please if you are going to post huge images. Dang that made my monitor freak out.
I think generly its ok as long as you enter with a proof pic I.E. before you started and then the finished model. At least thats how I understand it. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry, didn't think the pictures would be that big. I did show the proof pic, but the entry has to fit the theme as well.

Less of “active” mad science, and more of the repercussions. Children in gas-masks playing in a nuclear winter. I’ve seen more off-topic things entered, I think you’d be fine. IMHO, YMMV, etc...

Some great work coming in as usual - especially that bust, DV8. Like I said in my last post, it's stunning.

I'm declaring mine finished. Biel-Tan Warp Hunter. A hover tank built around a giant gun that operates by ripping open holes in reality. That sounds like mad science to me!

EDIT 4th July - Previous photos didn't have the Shuriken cannon stuck on (it's magnetised and I'd forgotten to pop it onto the Warp Hunter for the photos). I've just put it on and re-done the photos, I hope that doesn't matter. Original photos still spoilered below.

Previous photos before I noticed I hadn't popped the shuriken cannon on:

Uh oh *starts to sweat* no pressure huh?

I have started painting the figure in mostly purples to fit the slaanesh theme in some more basic style with edge highlighting. But I will sneak in a gold staff so I can incorporate your advice!

The whole playground is about 9 by 9 cm. I would say that the kid is about 32mm scale. He is advertised as 1/35 scale but when I put him side by side with another model of that scale it was clear that he is way too small. I just used my camera like I always do.

With the quality of the entries this month I almost shouldn't bother, but here's my final entry anyway. For your viewing pleasure, a Tau XV95 Ghostkeel Battlesuit:

This was one of the more fun projects I've worked on. I fell in love with the model as soon as GW started previewing it, so naturally I picked one up. He's been waiting patiently for paint ever since, so it's nice to finally be able to get him out of the painting queue and ready for battle. The more observant among you will have noticed that there are two different main guns in some of the photos; I magnetized it so that it would have both weapon options, so I wanted to show a couple of shots of both of them.

I'm looking forward to the voting, as there are some pretty amazing entries in here so far!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Well, 3 out of 5 is...honestly kinda terrible. But that's what I've got done this month. Unhappy with the results, but usual burnout plus a lost week due to vacation means not much to be done on 'em. so, final pics.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on the Warp Hunter everybody, they're much appreciated. I'm glad that you liked it.

Some great entries coming in from Captain Brown and ZergSmasher - I've commented in your P&M Blogs - very nice work.

Vejut - don't worry about it, they look cool and it's always good to have plenty of entries in the challenge, even if you'd have liked to get a bit more done.

DanceOfSlaanesh - ooh, I can already tell this is going to be another good one!

Evening, guys.

After four hours of attempting to photograph this thing, around 50 photos taken with varying lighting and camera settings, here are my final pics. Enjoyable to paint, albeit time-consuming (it's huge, taller than a knight, and took about 20-30 hours to paint.) but it's such an amazing model, of such an iconic vehicle from the movies, it was a labour of love.

The AT-ST from Star Wars Legion

If anyone is wondering about the weird lines on the base, those are the miniature's fire arcs, which you need for the game.

I don't know how I managed to complete this with a house full of cousins and nephews and nieces. Everyone was all over me and playing with the damned model. Lots of corners cut. But in the end. I think it looks nice enough.

Some bloody awesome entries yet again! I love this challenge because I get to see all these cool models month after month.
Loving that style again, DanceOfSlaanesh - I really dig the graphic style.
Interesting to see your AT-ST, felt - I just bought a Revell model one myself...you must have quite a bit of Legion stuff done now!

For my own entry this month, I tried to really push myself to do something I hadn't tried before. The model is almost all stippled to create shading and highlights, even the metals. Quite a lot of it is lost in the photos, unfortunately. I think I may have to invest in a good macro lens sometime soon...I used to play a goblin in World of Warcraft and so I love the tinker-slash-steampunk style and have tried to bring some of that into this model.
This guy is the leader for an all-grot Killteam (he counts as an orc with a big choppa) and most of the rest of the killteam is almost finished. When they are done, I'll make a thread to show them.
Anyhow, I really enjoyed painting this model and I hope you like him!

Good luck to everyone and see you all in the wild next month...

I love the stippling technique for highlights. I've only ever used it and similar for the "rough" highlighting on the orks. But I think I can see the advantage of a stippled highlight on rounded or flat surfaces to get a very nice and even realistic (soft) lighting look. I should try it on some models and see how well I can implement it.

Some cracking entries coming in here!

Just as a heads up, I'm going to be busier than usual with dissertation work next month, so Midget Gems will be handling the challenge for next month.

On the same note, the vote might be a bit later than usual for this month, so please bear with me!

As predicted time as not been kind to me this month and I've run out of it, my entry is mostly finished just a lot of edge highlights missing. and after taking the photos notice I completely forgot to paint the rim of the base (damn)....oh well

I'll put this one down as a well done for getting something finished even during a busy month.

My Ork "Mean Machine" Megatrakk Scrapjet

I really wanted to make a Custom Mean Machine from Wacky racers driven by an Ork Dick Dastardly and Grot Muttley but knew that was too ambitious for this month as my work as a big project deadline for the end of this month so lots of extra hours at work and time away from home to push it over the line. I ended up doing a little homage to that idea and painted a very poorly built Megatrakk Scrapjet I got off Ebay in the same colors as the Mean Machine. No last minute painting season to finish it off either as I'm up at 0430 tomorrow.

Good Luck everyone and sry I've not been around to comment on entries, hopefully I will be next month
