Time for the last push everyone. We’ve got the weekend left, so put on those finishing touches! If anyone needs a little extra time, just ask.

--

I should be all done with the paint, on to baseing. Unless I notice I missed a spot, which happens more often then I like...

Can I have another week?

Don't think I'm going to have anything to show for this month, which is disappointing personally as I was aiming for a perfect year this year and 2nd month in I'm already missing an entry...

A week might be a little much. Sorry.

Extra day is easy, two is a bit of a stretch. But if drag things out too long, it’s not fair for those who finished in time. As much as I’d like to accommodate every request, we do need to draw lines somewhere.

If you want to enter what you have at the deadline, you can still have an entry. Everyone has different standards. For example, you might not have finished the base, but the rest of the mini is done. We can put that up for the vote. Or if you only did 4 of your planned 6 highlights. It might not be “done” for you, but that’s still far past what some folks are happy with.

We obviously want finished models, so if there is bare plastic/primer you are probably better off just bowing out and trying next month. But some people’s WIP are quite impressive.

Haha, I was only joking! I'm a long way off having anything done currently. I'd really have to spend every hour of the next day and a half painting in order to get something done and, unfortunately, I just don't have the time.

Next month, definitely!

I finished the alien trees and the dead Eldar Guardian to add to my entry and make it more "Doomsday".

So I will tweak my earlier post.

Cheers,

Hi All

I've been away a lot the last few weeks with work and that trend looks to continue for most of May as well. Took something with me and managed to get this fun little scene done. Everyone knows if you see a red button you should push it right?

Proof (realised I hadn't posted that yet)

Here's my finished piece. I need to get on these pieces earlier. I find I'm rushing to reach the due date and not really flexing my creative talents like I should.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

On that note I'll probably bow back in. I should have something to submit even if it's not totally done by my standards. Might not break out the lightbox either, just grab the best photos I can on my desk (they'll be glorified WIP shots). Everything will be at least shaded, but probably relatively few highlights and the bases might be bare.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Only had time to finish one of the two, but here’s a Manticore from the 2nd Battery, 5th Company, 4th Artillery Brigade of the Tallarn 331st Infantry Regiment, ready to unleash doomsday on some poor, unsuspecting traitor, heretic or xenos…

Here's my entry, had a very difficult time lighting him, seemed to absorb light like a blackhole. I had to stuff the camera down his throat as well, i think my old camera has a crummy light sensor or something.

This is essentially a test model and intended as a gaming piece. The Banner skull has a single red eye that doesn't really show and it's honestly my favourite little detail. Also i really regret not going for 'Medusa' instead as my background for my Heresy Iron Hands has them not exactly devoted to the Gorgon.

Great work everyone!

That’s me being done. Little odd painting minis not for my normal armies. But finished on off to the YTD shelf.

Down to the wire folks. Time to get the last minute pics uploaded. I’ll formerly close this tomorrow morning when I put up the new thread, so that gives you roughly 12 hours from when I’m posting this. As always, holler if you need a little extra.

If you need an extra day that’s no problem.

I’ll start the new one tomorrow morning, and let this challenge run an extra day.

And not to confuse anyone, but I’m also going to open the thread for the 100th challenge tomorrow (although probably in the afternoon) not to start a month early, but so we have a link to share to try to get as many people as we can participating in June. Also to chat, look at the history, and help each other come up with ideas for the big month.

Brother and Sisters, the Day of Ascension draws nigh! Though some naysayers may claim that this will be the end of the world, it is most certainly not! It is however the end of the world as we know it. No more drudgery, no more toil. Cast off the yoke of servitude to the false emperor and embrace the coming of the children of the stars!

Ahem.
This was a fun one, and apparently the first entry into my "Non-ork" gallery since 2019. This is mostly a color-scheme test for the rest of the squad. I want to really push the idea that these are mine workers so in addition to safety orange work clothes, I had the idea of a kind of reverse highlighting where any part of his suit that would probably come into contact with the walls of the mine, I painted brown to give a muddy effect. There's still more that could be done but IIRC, these guys are worth even less points on the table top than a common ork boy. I'm curious what the community thinks of the paint scheme, and also if you folks typically paint the iris and pupils in the eyes of minis this small. I probably will give it a go but am out of time to do so before the end of the month. If it were your mini (and you still had 9 to go to finish the squad), would you spend more time on details, highlights, etc.?

Final pics:

Great entries so far, and good luck to all still trying to finish before the deadline!

Well, as I said earlier, these models aren't finished, but they are good enough to submit what I have. Even in this WIP state they look better than some of my earliest models, so that's good I guess. Here are my entry photos:

Maybe I'll get some sympathy votes or something, I guess. Main things that didn't get done were the bases (obviously) and I was going to put Tzeentch decals on the shoulder pads. The cloak on the Sorcerer came out nice (it's the main thing in the whole entry that I feel is actually all done) so I'm happy about that. Next month I should have something a lot better to show everyone...
