I'm in, and it looks like I'm in good company. Clearly some of you good folk have heard of Ascension Day, but if you haven't, this gentleman has been a miner all his life and would love to tell you all about the better life that will descend from the stars any day now; that's right, no one will ever have to work again!

I'm taking a diversion from my usual subject matter. I've been wanting to do something a bit more narrative, and the Vigilus backstory from the older Kill Team box set is calling me. I've got a unit of Skitarii that will be the protagonists in a campaign I'm devising and some GSC seem like the perfect addition so this fella will be my color scheme test (and the test to see if I have the patience to knock out a whole squad of them).

All Orks, All Da Zoggin' TIme. 'Cause Da Rest of You Gitz is Just Muckin' About, Waitin' ta Get Krumped.

Already got Belok way, way way.. more painted (and kitbashed with loads of cool accesoires) after a full day of working on him.. (4th day of a 5 day water-fast, currently last day.. will eat a peanutbutter sandwich around 16:00 oclock -_- (How the hell do people fast for 24 days.. its inconcievable to me)
But this was the pic before that happened, and he was still just a basecoated nudeling. Belok never waterfasts, he bloodfasts.

Help would be very welcome!

Thats an amazing conversion!

If you want to go full nostalgia, then Battlecat has a kind of foresty set of markings

Alternatively, tigers live in forests and they are orange! I think its more the markings that will make it fit, rather than necessarily the colours being used.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Thanks Flinty!

I've decided to go with tiger colourings, so mainly orange-y brown with a sharp, almost bluish white on the underside and around the facial features. I'm going to paint the scales and spines black and then leave it there for markings, so no additional stripes or spots or anything.

At least, that's the plan for now. I may well change to dark greys and blacks (panther colours, maybe) at the last minute if I don't like how it's looking...

I can't see you not liking the outcome. Orange kitties are the best.

Void Kitty > Ginger

But as one of my friend put it “Everyone thinks their cat is the best cat, and none of them are wrong”

I don’t see how anyone could prefer anything over a sentient slip of non-euclidian darkness from beyond the outer void, who’s shape can only be guessed. The only color the eyes, window to the soul, and murder-mittens, the color of death. (and an adorable little pink tongue)

But black cat don’t photograph well (all the light that touches them is theirs. No, you can’t have it back) so from a miniature POV, going with a more colorful feline/monster thing is probably better.

In other news, I’ve yet to put paint down. Month is slipping away. But lots of great entries so far. Looks to be a fun month!

WIP post:

Decided this mini requires painting in three parts….at least for the initial stage. All to do now is to pin everything up and it’s priming time!

Loads of awesome work going on in this thread already!

My last cat was a void kitty, and you're right, he was the best. I haven't been able to bring myself to get a new cat since.

I know its kinda quick but didn't want to keep my progress a secret, this will be the final progress pic though, im in the accessory phase now so gotta paint alot of individual parts and find a good place to glue them on, contemplating to add the grot (who's heads I don't have) with a huge gun but not sure yet, doesn't allign with the story I wrote for this unit.

I will try to give Belok a gun of his own strapped around either one of his shoulders or his belt, and need to figure out how to properly connect the legcloth (for his left leg, right on pic) made from greenstuff which is supposed to resemble flayed skin.

Usually big units give me alot more excitement to work on it than smaller ones.

Kind regards.

Sometimes it’s the 6th of the month and there’s really no point in over-labouring a done miniature.

This one is the Burrows and Badgers Mole Friar from Oathsworn Miniatures.

He may look like a happy mole reading about freshwater fishing in his favourite meadow watering hole, but NO! It’s Doom he preaches! I tell you; DoOM! DooOoM!

Started the undercoating and given the harder to reach parts of the chainmail at the rear of the cape a coat of steel. Next up some blue/black for the armour and the base coat of red for the cape…

Very glad I did this in subassembly

Sister Verity, bearer of the Domesday Book of Slaanesh (and Scientia, her pet lectern):

I'd like to make it clear that I did intend to paint the goop coming off the book pink or something, but Slaanesh was all "go on, I know you're thinking it" after I'd put on the white base, so here we are.

I decided to skip the Master of Possession and whatever that other one was - they're not tied to Verity lore-wise aside from being in the same warband, and only really 'doomsday' in the sense that everyone in chaos kind of it, so I thought I'd just go with what I had and not rush to finish them (I really need to get some more Terminators finished before my next game at the end of the month).

When I see white goop, I immediately think of Oreo cookies. That's what you intended, right?

Mostly, on my phone.

Fnar. Looks ace.

So my Guild are done, just got to choose 5 now!

I'm thinking ATM the front 5: the Capodocina, female citizen with the lamp, a Gondolier (probably the female one), and maybe the male citizen with club, as I'm happiest with their faces. I do like the Harpoon weilding fisherman but his face isn't great. There's also a pilferer (urchin) done but she's hiding in this photo

...yes, that's it exactly. Slaanesh is all about immediate gratification, only Tzeentch has the patience to brew a cuppa for the superior Tim Tam Slam.

Love the cultist sister, if it's not already part of one i reckon it would make a brilliant start to a new Army or Skirmish Gang.

My Proof pic, spoilered for being a potato fone-snap.

Legion Vexiliator

Spoiler:

I was think of making something really bespoke but i thought Horus Heresy was pretty doomsday adjacent.

Thanks Lorewise the gals (the Order of the Honeyed Abyss) are a subfaction of Syl's warband, along with the chaos marines and cultists and various other weirdos she's collected. In practice I use them as either Chosen or Possessed, since I haven't got full squads of either modelled up yet, and it makes it nice and easy for opponents to tell them apart from 'normal' chaos marines (since a lot of my marines, even the regular Legionary ones, have extravagant mutations and/or extra decoration). Verity specifically's going to be my new Dark Apostle, with the lectern and I'll model up something else as the disciples.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Peace was never an option.

Nice work everyone. Still have a little over half the month left, procrastinate your project’s appropriately.

Oh, that makes a lot of sense. The things in the primed and ready to paint pile are down to more then you could paint in a year, so you need to build more models from the endless pile of sprues.

I’m kinda there now, where the primed pile is getting real low, and I need to spray the built pile I’ve worked on all winter. It’s not spring until I break out the rattle can and prime some minis!

You want to be careful there, CB. I have it on good authority that you die if you ever run out of models to paint.
