Ouchy! Don’t do that again. Also, rest up and get yourself sorted first. Much more important than a painting malarkey!

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Agreed, damn shame, but get fit first and don’t make your injuries worse trying to finish a silly internet challenge.

Party at the Jedi temple tonight! Everyone's invited! This is gonna be one for the history books!

I switched back to Anakin because he's less work to paint than the saboteur. Most of the month I couldn't get any painting time in and I don't expect to get any more for the rest of the month. I had a few days this week and tried to make the most of it. Hurray for real life, I guess.

On the bright side, Anakin isn't sitting unpainted on my desk anymore. Huzzah!

Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?

My lawyers informed me that I should let you all know that your health and safety are more important then finishing an entry. Minis can wait, recovery often cannot. As you can join at any time, so can you step out. I’d also like to point out that as of this time I’ve not been convicted on any charges related to the mysterious and tragic disappearance of persons who failed to finish their entries. One of the goals of this challenge is to encourage people to finish projects. We are running out of month, time to get back to the paint bench and find your motivation. But be careful. We don’t want any hobby accidents.

Great work from everyone, love the finished entries so far (and the WIPS as well)

I need to get more work on my own stuff. Getting there, but slowly.

As next month is rapidly approaching anyone have any suggestions for a theme?

I'd like to throw the old 'mercenaries' theme in once more, just in case it gets lucky this time.

I also had a random idea a couple of days ago, which I'm calling That Guy - the one (hopefully it's only one) member of the army nobody else really wants to be around. A Commissar with a habit of reaching for his pistol whenever he sees a poorly-polished boot, a Haemonculus who doesn't really distinguish between friend and foe when he needs somebody to 'help' with a medical experiment, a Weirdboy who's liable to belch warp flame without warning and if you're lucky it's out of his mouth, a trooper with a bulge under his jacket he swears isn't a third arm, Khârn the Betrayer (and their various counterparts from outside of 40k, That Guy is a constant throughout the multiverse) - comedic sociopathy, callous indifference, poor hygiene, whatever the reason, the mini that may well be tactically vital, but the rank and file are praying to their god of choice not to be assigned to their unit.

I like that idea

I’m down to final basing on my mechs, so should hit the deadline fine. I’m being slowed down a bit as I’m production lining about 15 mechs and bases of battle armour

Stood in pride and contentment, a Chaos Lord surveys the derelict landscape of all that once was…his soul now at peace with joy at the destruction of all things.

I have really enjoyed taking part in this community event. My first ever attempt at such a thing! There is so much awesome stuff in this thread and a lot to absorb! I hope people like the photos although I am struggling a little to get the lighting right etc and feel the pics might be somewhat washed out. Currently using my partners nail technician beauty lamp to light the mini so might have to fiddle with that to improve the results. Anyhoo, for better or worse, here he is…

We're running out of month, but I'm going to try to get these two done. I just need the weather to cooperate and give me a day to prime.
There's no Doomsday quite like a demon trying to usurp the powers that be in hell. I'm painting up these two as my Leader and Devoted for Reign in Hell.
Nothing says devotion like wearing a creepy mask of someone's face.
Did I put too many skulls on the base? I know in the grim dark of the far future there is no such thing as too many skulls, I suppose the same is true of hell.

I like that Chaos Lord, XvArcanevX.

That Guy sounds like an interesting theme, although I'm not quite sure what I'd enter.

Another suggestion: All seeing, all knowing. Psykers, wizards, masterminds, that sort of thing.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Thankyou very much, I have to admit to being really impressed with your work (I have voted for your entries twice actually) so that feedback means a lot! I can see me taking part in this regularly for sure, it is ALOT of fun and it’s awesome having a goal to keep me painting.

I like the idea of ‘Mastermind’ as a theme…

Can’t wait to see more entries…

Definitely keep participating. I am at best a journeyman painter, but I've picked up a lot of new skills thanks to this challenge.

Theme suggestions for next month, eh?

Triumphant Return: Characters who disappeared for a time and have come back to save the day.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!: Various animals, or people who take on such aspects or are named for them.

The Awakened: Sort of like my first suggestion, but characters who have been asleep for a while instead of missing.

Yes, I have a bit of an agenda...

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I'm getting Folklore vibes from that awesome demon.
Very promising!

Anyway I'm with the theme idea of 'mercenaries', don't remember name of who gave it but that idea really resonated.

Poll for next month is up. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I’m trying to keep the number of choices at 4, so all the extras go onto The List to be pulled from for future votes.

Voted on the poll. And here is a wee progress update on the mechs, alongside their brethren currently being colourised.

Things left to do - brown Base edging, hazard stripe front face and then some scale bush things and the leaf litter detailing.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

What's the story of this mini? Kitbash? Other-company-than-WH-sculpt?, your own sculpt (greenstuff etc)?

Greets.

As my lone converted Dark Reaper Exarch is not filling the Doomsday vibe enough, I am going to add some alien plants to my entry.

Some background for a post or two.

Cheers,

Nice on CB!

I'm calling these done now. You could spend forever detailing individual panels, but the point for me is to get stuff done and off the painting table. New stuff on these ones compared to the previous painting comp is the light dirtying of the lower legs and feet.

Progress on the plants. Added a casualty as well.

Mostly, on my phone.

Right, here's my entry, The Doom that came to Venice

Mostly Guild, with the Strigoi Priest (plus some terrain from this month).

For the Capodocina, I used the base tab as a piece of flotsam and tried to pay particular attention to the ripples.

Ordinary citizens, with really expressive faces.

Osl work on the serving girl and priest.

And another group shot.
That's me!
