Blood would certainly suit the feel of the model. Go for it.

Not sure about the blood, it may detract from the wood elves vibe, then again might make the model more scary.

Just a quick update for you guys tonight, I have painted up the oldschool beastman from my converting frenzy, Im really happy to have him finished, as this was the first set of warhammer miniatures I ever owned, and although the old (blue) paintjob held nostalgia for me, this way he looks far better!




Plus in the group with all of the other guys from this project so far, they are actually piling up pretty quickly!

Best i've ever seen bro when it comes to beastmen and the subsequent conversions undertaken! simply put they are purely enjoyable to look at! I love the wide open stare on the severed heads with the red rimmed eyes, works really well and i'll steal that in the future! please keep doing this work mate, it's stunning stuff

My vote is for crusty blood (Sorry!). I just think that would look really cool and give it the effect that whalemusic mentioned: something ancient that has been brought back to terrorize once again.

So just a small update for you today, another tzaangor from the silver tower joins the group, I wasnt very happy with the scheme on the last one so I have gone for something a bit more outlandish this time. The eyes creep me out a bit on this guy.

I have to say I'm very proud of the base, almost had more fun doing that than the rest of the model, maybe a sign I should start dabbling with scenery projects more.

@Angel of vengeance - Thanks very much! i'm starting to get quite comfortable with horns now, the skin was a nightmare though, too pale, too unforgiving if you make a mistake.

Lovely work as always J, weirdly the thing that caught my attention was the arrow! I'm so used to seeing them painted as some kind of flame, repurposing it as a mean, jagged piece of metal was a brilliant idea.

Love your color use on this model Jp. The red/orange hair makes a great transition from the skull to the darker robes. Excellent.

@Paradigm - Thanks para! I must admit I didn't really have an image when i painted it like that, just thought of it as dark and a bit menacing, I think i thought more of it as some sort of black smoke effect, but you are right, a jagged metal barb is a far more grim-dark idea!

@Gits- Thank you! I was inspired by the film Brave, her hair is a similarly mind numbingly bright.

So I havnt been idle over christmas guys, in fact I have two finished models for you, you lucky lucky people.

The first is the converted skaven assassin from the silver tower set, I tried to paint him to a decent standard but speed was really my priority here, hope it doesnt show too much!





Second up is a bray shaman for my beastmen collection, someone had to be responsible for that undead minotaur afterall...

I tried to improve my technique for painting cloth here, i think it kind of worked, but will need a bit more refining.

Seriously nice minis there mate: speed-painting is not how i would have imagined the Skaven being painted. You've got a very good skintone on that rat: almost albino-esque. I like the knuckles as they have a sore looking quality, like he's been digging or fighting.

My favourite part of the bray shaman is the cloak. Wonderful collection of colours which look like a mix of skins and cloth.

Thanks Elnibbus, it was really simple, the skaven flesh is just a white basecoat, then three carefully applied layers of flesh wash, reikland fleshshade, before picking out details like the face, eyes etc. The knuckles are my favourite bit of him too, although the pustules are a bit too well painted for my liking, made me feel quite unwell doing it. Not sure a nurgle army would be my thing.

Yes the pustules do look convincingly gross!
