I guess being in the southern hemisphere constitutes being a southerner and all the rights that entails (including he-haws and y'alls). I just always figured Oz's like of country music was an outlier. What's next? The Dutch posting in a southern drawl?? Madness!!

Did anyone here pick up the Black Crusade book at gencon?

It was in Creatures Anathema. But I can understand why some would would want another one, like the updated Genestealer entry.

Because regular genestealers make one of my player's whine more than enough, saying the rules are not fair.

Fair enough though, because I have not dropped the errata on them yet.

The Ambull is in the Creatures Anathema.

The Xenos section is the largest section in the book. More than half the profiles in the book are xenos profiles.

Deathwatch, of course, and it is not like I am making them combat in excess of ten at a time. I any of my PC's know I would give them a mission to kill only genestealers if they only wanted combat for a session.

I enjoyed the book, just from the title expected 100% xenos. I haven't had any substantial problems with the FFG books, they're great, so this one criticism, it should be emphasized as being a very tiny issue.

What other critters are in Creatures Anathema?

And how do you boost them to be uses on Marines / Chaos Marines?

There's a variety of stuff in Creatures Anathema. Even Eldar Dire Avengers get a listing.

As for using them against marines, it depends a lot on the creature in question. Different creatures will have different power levels, and many of them are designed to be able to battle an entire group of acolytes solo. In such cases, a small pack of them could pose a definite challenge to a marine kill-team. Also, some of the creatures in the book are just plain strange. Marines will have trouble with them simply because of how alien they are.

Lots of things. D'ya really want me to list them all?

Miss Dee wrote:And how do you boost them to be uses on Marines / Chaos Marines?

There are a few things you can do:

1. Give them Unnatural Characteristics. Strength and Toughness are good starts, but Agility also works for very fast things.
2. Double their wounds (not always applicable).
3. Use them in Hordes, and give them Horde Traits.

And the next in the Warpstorm Trilogy has arrived...

Citadel of Skulls, a Rogue Trader adventure, is now available!

He’s a madman, hell bent on scourging the Expanse of those with the will to stand up to him. Even his name elicits the sign of the Aquila and prayers to the God–Emperor."
–Darius Xerxes, Helmsman (referring to Karrad Vall)

A great beast has awakened from beyond the edges of the Koronus Expanse, hungering to fulfil its dark purpose. Before you and your fellow Explorers can attempt to seek it out and ultimately destroy it, you must uncover what and where it is. Finding the answer is a nearly impossible undertaking, pitting you against an infamous pirate lord blessed by Chaos.

Citadel of Skulls, the second adventure in The Warpstorm Trilogy for Rogue Trader, is now on sale at your local retailer and on our webstore! On the hunt to discover the cause of vanishing settlements, increased xenos sightings, and aggressive confrontations between the Rogue Traders and a mysterious group of raiding pirate vessels, you and your fellow Explorers are thrust on a perilous journey. The key to your quest lies hidden at the Casket of Secrets, in the very heart of the Citadel of Skulls, Karrad Vall’s home. Prepare to attempt the ultimate heist: stealing a priceless artefact that belonged to a legendary starship from Karrad Vall’s vault. No sane person has ever risked entering the Faceless Lord’s inner sanctum, let alone stealing from him...until you.

Raiders, Slavers, and Reavers

Can you and your fellow Explorers navigate safely through your impending expedition? Your journey begins with strange developments, untrustworthy guides, and the awakened mysterious force shadowing your every step. The way to Vall’s seat of power is blocked by potential hazards and a sky full of raiders, slavers, and reavers. Plot your course through Vall’s dark cathedral, past quivering slaves and brutal enemies, bloody chambers, and the ossuaries full of bones that give the Citadel its name. And once you reach the Casket of Secrets you’ll meet “the Archivist.”

Citadel of Skulls can be played as a standalone adventure or connected to the events introduced in The Frozen Reaches. Will you be able to withstand the voyage?

Head to your local retailer to pick up your copy, and get ready to take your place in the events that will shape the future of the Koronus Expanse!

Looking forward to reading this one so I can find out what happens in the middle of this trilogy.

Bad things.

On a more serious note, I skimmed through it at my FLGS. I didn't scrutinize everything, but the ending is definitely one that would require tweaking if the GM didn't plan to follow up with the third and final adventure. The tweaking in question wouldn't be too difficult, but it would need to be done.

Given that it's mentioned on the back of the book, I think it's safe to bring up the fact that the climax of the adventure involves stealing from someone's private treasure vault.
Spoiler:
The most prominent item in the vault (iirc the cogitator core from a haunted ship) is an obvious MacGuffin, and it's pretty obvious that said item will have an important role in the third and final book. But said item also probably won't be much use to the players unless the GM decides to get very creative.

Fortunately there's a very easy solution - just replace the item outright with something else.

The guys at FFG must really like the look of the valkyrie and its variants as I think this is the second cover to feature one. Can't say I blame them as it is quite the sexy transport...

It's a MacGuffin. Or in other words, it doesn't do anything out of the ordinary unless the GM says so. It's got an interesting background, sure. But it's not as if there are rules in the adventure that state, "On a rule of 96-100, your entire crew dies screaming as they claw their own eyes out."

So did anyone go to Gencon and pick up Black Crusade? Is there a fourth type of chaos marine class to go with sorceror, chosen, and forsaken?

Just a question, do the Black Crusade books offer any info on the Death Guard or anything/anyone affiliated with them?

I'm guessing the Legions are tackled in a later book, like the Deathwatch did with one of theirs. Can't remember the title.

There are some general mentions of various Legions in the fluff, but nothing all that specific about the Death Guard.

I'd suspect, given the usual order that 40K RPG books arrive in, that there there will eventually be a Legion-style supplement.
