Superb Les. As always. How did you achieve the graduated light brown to grey in the penultimate model?

Thanks! I'm not sure what model you are talking about. Sorry.

Superb work! The skin tones are fantastic, I particularly like the blending on the javelin points.

I am not sure if I am the only one, but the background is a little busy and distracts the eye from the model itself.

Not the last chappie holding the sword, but the werewolf-like monster with one paw on the ground. There are two pictures of him side by side.

I totally agree...Really makes it hard to focus on the detail of the model.

So this was the next commission in line after the PP stuff. Still in the early stages and playing with colors. And yes this model was already assembled as seen which has made painting everything a bit difficult.

And I'm finally going to finish my Venator. I have a paint class to do on 30th of the month and it's one of the models I plan on bringing among others. Here's how it looks at the moment.

Les, you have been doing incredible work. You've been quite busy. I'm really liking the Privateer Press stuff.

Thanks dude! Yeah been taking a lot of commission lately so I can buy a new camera so there will be posts as I finish each one.

I don't know if anyone noticed that my style has slightly changed recently

I airbrushed between 2 colors. Both inks: Daler Rowney Burnt Umber and White.

I first airbrush a light coat of the brown over a white base to show the details.

Then it's a back and forth airbrushing the 2 colors so the transitions are to my liking.

Done

I'm not a warmachine guy, so pardon my ignorance on the names, but the werewolf thing (above) and the trollblood with the crystal in his hand stand out as particularly awesome.

Also, I like how you make switching between airbrushing two different colors to make a beautiful blend sound simple. Clearly, it isn't or we would all be churning out great minis like you always do.

Thanks for sharing. It is always nice to jump on dakka and see some inspirational work to keep the paint flowing on my own work desk.

Flesh Tearer for a friend WIP.

Just have to add the backpack when it's done as touch up the bolt pistol details (skull, and gloss the metallics)

The flame on that chainsword is spectacular. If I hunted through your tutorials would I find one that shows that?

Thanks but there are no flames on the sword lol. I painted hazard stripes on the sword and then added blood/gore to it.

But no, there's no video tutorial showing it.

lol color me a fool then, but all I see when I look at it is a perfect flame pattern that looks natural. Either way, fantastic stuff as always ^_^

Ok I see it now. If you think of the sword being Black in base color then you can see the flame. I see what you see. But the flame effect was not my intention lol.

Thats called a happy accident.

YOU ARE NOT A FOOL SIR!

I talked with my friends about 'seeing the flame' and we decided it was an accidental NEW technique. So I went out to practice it. Thanks for seeing what I didn't mean to do

Here's a test. The front of the left leg and the shoulders are the only parts I like.

Whoa. That is almost exactly the effect I've been trying to achieve.

I second the call for a video tutorial, or at least a description of how you did this.

My guess is that it's mostly stippling of the flame colors over black basecoat, with some washes/glazes to tie it together.

Awesome stuff.

I agree that the shoulder pads and left knee look the best. But considering you're just playing around with it I think it looks amazing. The flame looks so natural.

You're gonna have to teach us now ^_^

+1 for the lesson!

I thought it was flames as well though I thought the pattern was a little funny, happy accidents tend to result in really original and excellent things in my experience though!

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

The effect looked like a more natural flame when it was the balls of flame (even if that's not what it actually was, lol). I think the test model would look even better if the areas of fire were more patchy...

Absolutly astounded by the sheer amount of awesomeness posted in this blog and by how quickly you can moved from commision to commision and acheive amazing results. When I saw your "NEW" fire technique I thought well damn looks like the legion of the damned is outdated now.
