So assuming he's not garbage, he might be worth using an Aux detachment as he won't benefit from the Black Legion trait anyway, and then you can buff a better Legion's Raptors. Question is of course which ones?
I am not aware of any unit in the game worth -1CP. It's actually better to just pony up the 50pts for 10 Cultists and take a Patrol. You still need Troops, afterall
-
Farseer Skyrunner with Doom in a Drukhari list.
Ehhhh. Even then you're almost always better off with spending the 60 points for a Ranger squad to get a Patrol and some backfield objective coverage.
That's exactly my point. By taking a minimum Troops (which is useful in its own right) you can take a Patrol and not have to lose a precious, precious CP.
But maybe I am biased as my lists don't seem to exceed 10CPs and those are gone by turn 3, unlike Imperials that can just hemorrhage CPs
-
Only exception that I would say is worth paying 1CP for is a Culexus Assassin.
The chaos character has the HQ skull but Calgar's is blank. Does this mean he's going back to LoW?
Probably Calgar has multiple lines to cover his terminator and primaris armor in one entry, since the rules and other wargear are the same.
Will be interesting since that's Guilliman's slot. Though with a terminus Ultra I can run a super heavy detachment of Ultramarines lol
In all seriousness I think he will be a LoW since in the article it also says "Seriously, his profile alone is almost Primarch-worthy"
I think making him a LoW would be the definition of a mistake as an 200 point HQ still contrutes to battalion and brigade slot requirements. It one of the biggest meh moments when you have to field Bobby G and why he needed his +3CP as he usually costs you a second battalion atleast(or would is marines weren't suck trash troops)
ickz wrote: Only exception that I would say is worth paying 1CP for is a Culexus Assassin.
But there's not really a choice there. No assassin Troops. My point was that, given the option, taking a Patrol with all the tax units involved would be preferable to spending 1CP to take an odd unit.

The rumour isn't that all -1 to hit abilities are going away, but that specific army triats such as Alaitoc, Raven Guard and Alpha legion are going to be a cover bonus instead. I am pretty sure that Harlie units that have an in-built -1 to be hit will retain that ability.
What the rumored change does is limit STACKING -1 to be hit, such as Alaitoc Hemlocks having -2

I agree, but then I'd have more room for Lieutenants
Edit:
But either way I'm excited for Calgar. I try to run him occasionally but with these new formations he pretty much let's you upgrade your detachments for free, you don't need the chapter master upgrade either

We’ve also taken the opportunity to look at some units that might be over performing based on their points costs, making increases where necessary. Chaos Cultists, for instance, have been given a small increase based on their overwhelming popularity in Chaos lists of all kinds
The assumption is that an small increase on Cultists has to mean at least 5ppm (since they are currently 4ppm), and Gaurdmen (being the better unit overall) would get a similar increase

Why were you not bringing Clagar before - he's kind of auto include unless you bringing Gman. IDK about you but my friends get tired of playing against Gman all the time.

I was playing Raven Guard, since my friends also get tired of seeing Gman

That would require them to be good. Other units increasing in price doesn't do that.
Well, the reason why they were good was that you could just park them on top of objectives and many armies simply could not kill them fast enough. It's like the opposite of Knights. You're abusing a structural property of the game.

Which proves GW doesn't understand that it's that Cultists are simply worth taking and that Chaos Marines are super bad and NOT worth taking.

I'd rather spend those 60 points on 2 units of 5 Kabalites. It's not like Drukhari have that much use for the CP anyway.
Calgar's rules are pretty decent. He provides a great bonus to the units around him and is quite survivable. He isn't Guilliman, but he is pretty great. The Honour Guard are probably going to be pretty decent as well.
I am hoping that other Chapter Masters go through the process. I would love to have a new Pedro Kantor rocking Mk X armor. Lysander in Gravis Armor. Dante in Gravis Armor with a Jump Pack (he would hit like a damned freight train!). I could see all of these happening.

Really - with all those cool strats? I never have enough.
Be nice to get some actual info on the Sisters Beta dex

Hello, ears!
Ah right I thought it was clear from the context, let me clarify - which of the above shooting/psychics/stratagems/abilities of note that affect Terminators are changed by being 7” away rather than 10”?
They’re still out of Melta range, Heavy Flamers and the Deathguard flamers could also use a boost, but yes they get a small boost to the reach of their short ranged weaponry.
Any power that affects the closest model is probably already hitting 9” Deep Strikers, and since they generally cause Mortal Wounds using them on Terminators is fantastic. Most of the other powers don’t affect Terminators, though I had forgotten that Nurgley powers are often 7”, so a DG Terminator Sorceror has a couple more powers to choose from the turn he arrives.
Fight again stratagems would require the Terminators to already have reached combat; at that point, the 6” vs 9” is a moot point anyway. The Dead Will Walk Again and Nurgle’s Roy help the Terminators’ opponent, not the Terminators.
Overall the move to 6” Deep Strike for unit’s with the Terminator keyword makes it easier for them to get to close combat, gives them a little more reach with their short ranged weapons, and lets Nurgle Sorcerors choose from one or two extra powers. Hardly game breaking in my esteem.

I’d prefer Dante in some sort of artificer version of MkX rather than gravis. I want him to continue to look like a grimdark Renaissance statue and not a fat slob in Gravis like Inceptors.

Honestly his model is fugly for the reasons you listed. They did a good job of giving Calgar a suit of Gravis. I can trust they would do the same for Dante.

Agreed. I like his model well enough, but Gravis is model of armor that has the Jump Pack. They could still make it dressy compared to normal. And like Calgar, they could make it look cooler.
T5 Dante would be fine, maybe we will get CC variant of inceptors in the next Primaris wave, but MkX jump packs could easily happen as well. We’ll have to wait for a campaign that the 30 Blood Angels who are still alive and their new Primaris brothers will be involved with.

We’ve known for over a year that Mk X is a family not a single suit type. Gravis *is* Mk X, just another variant, and not one that inherently has a jump pack. Guess you guys mean you prefer Mk X Tacticus over Gravis?
