Wow, that's so simple but it looks so good! I talked with a friend yesterday about dusting and he showed me some of his Deathwing terminators that he used that technique on. I must say I'm sold!
Also great work on the Crimson Fists!

Dang, that Land Raider looks great! Actually, the entire Crimson fists army looks good! I love how saturated the blue is.
And I feel your pain on the heat issue. Here in the midwest it has been 85+ degrees C, and really humid. I can't afford air conditioning so I've been sitting and sweating away at my desk as I rush to finish 3 commissions due in three days. Fun fun!

@Cutthroatcure: Well, they ARE blue space marines...
@nerdfest09: Yeah, well... it helps if you're really, really greedy. :p Seriously though, I got three 40k armies and they hardly ever see the light of day and as much as I enjoy the look of those Crimson Fists (I really do) they'd just sit in some box for 364 days a year. I also need the moneyz. :p
@Vladsimpaler: Yup, works rather well. You gotta find out for which models or colour schemes it works and for which you can stick with all black or all white.
@Some_Call_Me_Tim?: I guess you mean °F, right? Around 100°C you start boiling from the inside. True, it's not as much the heat but that humidity that knocks you out. Luckily I don't have too tight schedules about commission work right now, apart from the Crimson Fists I just finished.
@Gitsplitta: Yeah, we had about ...err....104°F here over a few days? And remember, we don't really have AC here.
Quick little in-between thing - a WIP shot of some sample Survivors from the box I'm about to review. That painting of sample models is absolutely the most time consuming thing about these reviews and in some cases not the smartest thing I do (like that GW Riptide suit I plan to review).
Anyways, here they are:
Hope that you like them so far.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks muchly. I hope I don't give too much about the review away if I say that the figures are really nice to paint.
@Tim: Never mind, keep it up!
New WIP shot. I did not manage to finish them all tonight but at least eight out of the 10 guys are done plus bases. I got kind of bogged down in some details like freehand shirts, logos and especially the newspapers on the bases which are all representations of popular newspapers around here. I got a bunch of details in there to make the guys a bit more of characters beyond their clothes and such but I'll get into that once they're finished. I'd love to pick out and explain every little bit (it's not that amazing, it's just staying-up-way-too-late-euphoria talking)
In other nice news - it's raining!

@Gitsplitta: Exactly! Now if I could get someone to play that zombie game with me...
@Dysartes: Thanks muchly. What do you mean by "woad"? Like Blue facepaint or kind of a whole blue body?
Little update on my Dark Ages (Anglo-)Saxons:
They got a bit of a reinforcement in the shape of 12 archers (which you can't build from the Dark Age Warriors box as you may recall), a proper warlord and small retinue (along with a very, very nice flag), another hornblower, one more flag waver and two grizzly and scary champion fighters.

Maybe not a full blue body, but certainly that sort of style - I picked up the Black Scorpion Dwarf Team for Blood Bowl, and it turns out the Trollslayer equivalents didn't bother to pack any of their kit bar their headgear...
Figures some degree of woad would be a good move, especially as the team colour is blue

@Dysartes: Oh, I see. Well, you clearly would display a horrible lack of witfulness if you didn't paint at least one of them a blue scrotum. Other than that, here's my incredibly insightful suggestion on how to do woad on those guys - 'It depends on the style of painting'. I'm a huge fan of warpaint and colourful tattoos on Slayers especially and the blue goes so super-well with the red hair so I'd say, depending on the tone of the hair you choose the tone of the blue. All out neon orange hair calls for bright blue, toned down reddish-brown for a darker and more skin-tone-like blue. With tattoos for example it can never hurt mixing some of the skintone colour into the paint or apply the tattoos before you give the skin a wash or something like that. Depending on how confident you are in painting fiddly things you can either go for more warpaint-like stuff (i.e. Braveheart) or germanic-style tattoos (i.e. nothing ancient Germans would ever have seen but what modern tattoo artists would call "germanic" or "norse" style ). Alternatively: Wood-elf-like runes with extra swirliness. If that helped at all.
How the heck did I get to 10GB of bandwidth usage this month already? Some of you people got some 'splainin' to do!

Well, they're finished, I can't invest more time into this unit. The guy with the big pole ( LOL!!!!21) Is going to get a neat flag tomorrow. Hope that you like them. I guess I'll give them a varnish tomorrow as well.
oh, and I played that X-wing game everybody's so enamoured with lately. Despite the fact that it's pre-painted miniatures (boo, hiss ) I have to admit: It's as good as everybody says. It's fast, intuitive, simple and still gets you satisfying games. It may look like a fully fledged miniatures wargame but the rules work in a way that you can play it with everybody. I have yet to find out how well it works as a multiplayer game but I'm very inclined to get the starter box.
While I can cope with complex rules with miniatures wargames, I really prefer the more casual boardgames (and I'd classify X-wing as that, not even too sure why). My favourites currently are Blokus, Talisman, Seven Wonders, that kind of stuff.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks! Yeah, I was shown Wings of War the same evening but couldn't quite figure out how the actual movement works from looking at the cards. Does the game come with a crapton of those movement templates or is it done differently?
@Nafarious: It is rather fun judging from the first two games I had. Got the base set today myself.
Hey people, just a quick snapshot on what's on the building&conversion table at the moment (attached).
Funny story about those. Some time ago I ordered those buildings and multi-bases from warbases.com. About five hours later, the local Saga people let me know that Gripping Beast had restocked on their ready-made, ready-to-paint, very pretty and very affordable resin buildings! Right after I had spent about £ 40 on those MDF lasercut things. Now I have to make those look at least well enough so they don't have to feel ashamed of themselves when sitting on the table next to the Gripping Beast resin things. grr. Anyway, I added some texture and balsa wood beams and such for now. Next on the plan is nice bases and roof made of teddy bear felt. Just takes a fair amount of time.
Those multibases (they got some weird special name which I keep on forgetting because it sounds a bit like Scibor. Might have something to do with that that I keep on forcing out ther name) I mostly ordered for trying them out once. I have to say that I like them. I mean in wargaming we all basically dream of being the guy who moves formations with just one move of the hand, right? Which is why Impetus is so neat. On the other hand, nothing slows a game down more than moving 100 single based Orks across a table one by one. And I am that guy. I got footslogging Orks, hordes of 40k Guardsmen and my Saga faction also works best with large units and a high model count. I mean it does make the models 3mm higher than they are already are and takes away from the "diorama" look a bit" but i'm looking forward to trying these bases in games.

Happy Sunday, here's a WIP of my Anglo-Saxon Warlord base for Saga (could get hard justifying their looks and equipment for the earlier Dux Britanniarum setting but let's see ):
Feeling a bit bad about basically ripping off some local warlords here but really, I couldn't come up with a better design for warlord bases without my warlord looking decisively less impressive than theirs.

@Nerdfest09:
@Gitsplitta: Sounds cool as well. I just learned that mr. gaming buddy got himself another x-wing starter set and the millenium falcon so between our sets (especially if mr. gaming buddy#2 joins in with his starter set) where should be some interesting dogfighting action going on soon.
Okay, here are some pictures of finished stuff, including a showcase of those multibases I got recently:
These are some of the character minis I just finished along with a flag bearer. These could work as my warlord and "command" figures for earlier Saxons to use for Dux Britanniarum. The flag is kind of glossy, I'll give it a coat of matte varnish in a bit:
These fellas you know already. They're the Levy troops for Saga or warriors/levies for earlier Saxons. The leader with the red cap is newly finished. Really fun miniature. He looks pretty hulking. Very calm (he's got his eyelids partly closed as if looking down upon someone), yet menacing with the big moustache sticking out and a kind of fleeting chin.
..and here of course my Warlord:
Somehow I think something's not right on this guys... oh right, of course! He was lacking THE JESUS:
Hope that you like them.
