You've made those sexy Sigmar models even more tempting.

That's incredibly nice a comment, especially knowing how many people in the hobby feel about them!

Hello, friends. Tomorrow I will deliver this first batch of the army. Took some pictures before they're off home.

Hope you like them!

Those AoS models look fantastic

Man, those winged beasts are amazing Sigur. It's all great, but the way you added a creative element to the wings is really exceptional!

@Zambro: Thanks very much! I don't get to paint all that much AoS stuff, so it's nice to hear that the ones I do do (ha!) look neat. Would love to do more AoS figures.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Yeah, they surely took the longest of all the figures fom that collection (which is why I started with them). Two remarkable things about the smaller ones with the riders: They have this pretty unique combination of very thin and fragile claws at the end of the 'fingers' and a very high centre of gravity. And believe it or not, even with these huge 40k flyer bases, they are extremely knock-over-able. Pretty sure no other model fell over as much while I worked on it as these guys.

Hmmmm... can you add weight to the undersides of the bases? That might help preserve some of your brilliant work.

Sounds like a job for the sort of small metal weights I glue to the underside of the bases of most plastic models I paint these days - I think the ones I have may be lead, but then I entomb them in a superglue/baking soda combination so the lead isn't exposed.

@Gitsplitta: Yeah, that's something I'd certainly do if they were my figures. I mean just handling them isn't that problematic, it just was just during painting I knocked them over way more often than necessary.

@Dysartes: Yup. Washers, bolt nuts, what ever is at hand. I may suggest it to the guy. The thing is that I had 13 days to remove mold lines, paint and base the chaps, so the figures are with their owner for almost a week again already.

Right now I'm working on the biggest model I ever did. (excluding the Captain America shield replica, because that doesn't really count as a figure, right?).

Heyhey, here's a WIP shot of a zombie dude who either got a castle built around him OR lived in a castle and by accident drank an unlabelled Potion of Enlarge.

Already I sunk several days into the chap, somehow the model just seems to become more and more vast the more paint I put on him. He's proper big. 66cm feet to eye level, 79cm to the top of the pole on that tower on his back. Well, I hope you like him so far. Nothing's finished yet, but I hope I can proceed swiftly!

He's a cool (and disgusting) concept, Siggy - I kinda wish the tower section around his torso was a bit longer, to make it look like he was wearing it like a barrel...

@Dysartes: Cheers! Yeah, I got no say in that. I don't print the thing, I was given the dude in a biiiiiiiig box. Maybe it's also just the picture or because I'm used to his look by now (rather intimately); I'm okay with the look. I get your point though, especially since technically the way this is designed it would have his dangly bits dangle out.

I got game of Ronin coming up this week, so I'm re-reading the rules right now. I drew up two warbands (Buntai). Very regular Bushi stuff. I assume I'll go with the "defend the civilians" scenario from the rulebook with a mixed Ashigaru-Samurai warband attacking and a band of six (ehem) Samurai defend the sword school.

For that I set up a gaming table last night (instead of doing things I'm supposed to do):

By now I also added some roads. The table is 80x 100cm now, which should be large enough for a 150pts game. Fun fact; I realized I haven't played Ronin in over 10 years! Insane how time flies.

OK Sigur... doing Japanese skirmish things myself (different system), I am really interested in how you did all the farm fields.

That's such a beautiful board. Scratch building a bunch of Japanese buildings is on my bucket list.
Maybe I can combine them with my Infinity minis with a few techno gadgets magnetized to them.

@Glitsplitta: Cheers! They're mostly the farm fields I did along with my Eastern European buildings last year. Plasticard, basing stuff, tufts/flock/etc. I did some photoshopping to melt the borders of the fields into the grass mat in those pictures. I do that sometimes with terrain. Not with miniatures though, I think that would look weird.

@Tommygun1918: Thanks very much! It's funny; feudal Japan might be the only period for which I'm almost more interested in the scenery and everyday life than in the combatants. Yeah, I looked into scratch-building buildings for that too;especially if you do a city board, the kind where there's loads of tightly-packed buildings next to each other - that sort should be reasonably easy to scratch-build, and they should look great. I've seen companies make stuff like middle-eastern buildings with optional/magnetizable air conditioners to add so people can cover all sorts of timeframes. I actually used these feudal Japanese buildings in a game set in the 40k universe before when I deplicted a rural area. That was for the last campaign game in my 5150:Star Citizen campaign which I set up, but due to personal stuff had to put away again before even playing.

@Colonel Jacka: Thank you!

Right, surprise Vietnam update! A year has passed since the last Vietnam stuff I painted. .I haven't proceeded a millimetre with my own 15mm Vietnam ambitions (that's all still in boxes and blisters. Getting close to 10 years now since I got the first few things ). But at least I got to paint a few more 28mm figures for a gentleman in Austria. And an ox cart!

Cart, mortar teams and RPG-chap by Empress, the other ones I'm not sure about. Poses are slightly more static and they're a fair bit larger than the Empress/Hicks figures. Anybody got a clue?

And here's something napoleonic as well - Old Guard Grenadiers!

All Perrys figures. They come with 2 officers, 2 drummers, an eargle and a flag bearer, two sappers(!) and two NCOs. and they're prettier in real life than they are in the photos too. Oh well. I'll have them with me at Austrian Salute this coming Saturday, if that helps.

Hope you like them!

The Cong are very well done- the Grenadiers are most excellent! The detail is incredible, right down to the fine bits on the cartridge pouches. Napoleonics will always be my first love in miniature painting and these are awesome!

Right. There he is!

Hope you like him! I'll drive him around the country and we'll attend Austrian Salute this weekend. Then I'll have to give him back to his owner.

There are no words!

Okay, wait- yes there are! That is an amazing build- incredible in its scale and details and every single element painted as if it was the only piece being presented for evaluation. Marvelous conceptualization and tremendous attention to detail.

A great pleasure to see, and to go back and look at some more, frequently.

Thanks very much indeed. I'll have to throw a spanner in the works of the enthusiasm machine though I'm afraid - this is just a 3d print. Not an actual, proper model. I Mean I did a LOT of filing and adding texture and so on even before starting to paint, but in places you can still see the FDM print marks. The size makes it pretty impressive though. And I put a fair bit of effort into the painting too. In the end I once more came to the conclusion that I should charge WAY more for that. That's usually the sign that I consider the job done well.

I absolutely love that Sigur! Not only is the model itself brilliant, but your execution in paint of the concept is second-to-none. Well done man!

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much! I had him with me at a wargames show this Saturday, and people were impressed with the fella. Fun fact: He EXACTLY fits an IKEA Detolf glass cabinet. That must be by design. So instead of just driving across Austria with what looks like a glass sagophagus in the back of my car, this time I actually had a rotting zombie in that sacophagus in there as well!

Heyhey, I originally didn't plan to, but somebody on a German forum asked for it, and this weekend at a show I acually met a friendly man who said he was an avid reader of my website (where I post miniature reviews and painted stuff) and Tabletop Stories (where I put the gaming stuff like rules reviews, battle reports and such). So I had no choice.

Here's a quick article on the findings from our Ronin game between somebody who last played 10 years ago and somebody who never played before:

Hope you enjoy the article!

Just realized I haven't posted the 'in situ' shot of the Grenadiers! I took that a few days after the ones against the white background, right before I had to leave for Austrian Salute, so I hadn't posted them so far.

Hope you like them!

@Zambro: Thanks, that makes your comment all that much nicer to read!

Over the weekend I allowed myself to do something with my own toys for a change, and got some stuff done on the Guncannon:

Still very much WIP, very slow process as all sorts of things have to be left to dry properly. Whilst things were drying on the Guncannon I primed and basecoated the Zaku II (green dude in the back; the HGUC The Origin one, Char's commander version, but I built it as a regular Zaku II, because so far I don't have any, and I'd like to collect the classics. I think he's got a slightly wrong backpack because the non-commander variant's got a less powerful one, but hey ho.). I MAY have been a bit too swift on that one, and the primer doesn't seem to stick quite as well as it should. I'm sure now that it dried a bit more it should be better. I also fixed some bits and gave the chap a good varnishing, so I'm hoping that this should fix that. The thing's meant to be moved around, reposed and so on, preferrably by others than me as well on a gaming table.

I also ordered some extra bits, which I may use on this Zaku or a later one, depending on how easy these bits are to apply and/or if they fit at all.

Last year I painted all the other baddies and big monsters and so on, now the rest of the baddies and the investigators, the player characters. All 28mm sized. Hope you like them!
