@CptJake In the long run I would say yes, they need a new mould for the correct robots.

However the issue at the moment only effects the KS backers so might it be more llikely to produce a one off run of left legs and pop them inthe KS packages, rather than a completely new run of the corrected robots.

Not that I would say no to getting the correct robots and the "righties" as well for kit bashing.

Does seem strange that this passed Quality checking and got so late in the process before being picked up though - perhaps why the BSR did not get shown earlier?

This is the first time I've backed a Mantic KS and will be the last.

I had heard of the problems with previous KS but I thought that Mantic would learn from previous mistakes and this would be all sorted.

Yes you get a big box of stuff for your money but the woeful fulfillment and project management just doesn't seem to improve and isn't justified by the pricing.

I knew the project would be late as did everybody other than Mantic it seems. Stop over promising with delivery dates in the KS, that'd be a big improvement.

Not sure if Mantic still keep up on this board but hopefully they will see my feedback.

Since James Hewitt's (sporadic) participation on this board ended months ago, they haven't really had a presence. If you really want them to hear your feedback, you're best off going to their website and giving it directly.

To be fair Looky-Likey, a lot of miniature game ks's are running into issues at the moment and Mantic are far from being the worst.

Seems that the boom in KS games using plastic figures have led to some manufacturers taking on a lot of orders without real ideas about fulfilment (WGF and Panda spring to mind). Result the ever optimistic release dates look even worse. Add to that that a lot of games companies could do with a dollop of customer service.

Hopefully, Mantic keep on the ball now and see this one out by the end of October

I'm just frustrated that they haven't learned the lessons from their previous kickstarters as its the same mistakes. If this was their first kickstarter then fair enough.

Titan Games put this image up - interesting to see some of the other bits - not sure if they are coloured plastic or sprayed that colour.

Have the dreadball martian teams been delivered yet?

I assure you that those lines were really deep in the digital model , as you can see in any of our renders

You can and you should! But don't blame the sculpters, but the material used for the print

That is truely awful comms on what should be a basic communication.

Am I missing something, or are there no rules for the shrink ray optional robot arm and five shrunken US soldiers in any of the rulebooks?

Have shrink rays been dropped from the game completely, or are they forthcoming with rules to be published elsewhere? Seeing as the shrink ray arms / mini soldiers were bundled into a lot of pledge levels, and were available to buy as a separate item as well, it could be messy if Mantic have decided not to produce them.

Which rulebooks have you got access to? I haven't heard anything from anyone who's gotten their small shipment. All I have to go on is the core book.

"The Rules," "Humanity Resists," and "Extermination" (which has the rules for the Giant Robot armed with either a heat or freeze ray.)

Ahh so you got your smaller order in already? /jealous. Surely if nothing else we'll see a PDF? It would be a shame if they got cut, especially without notification.

Yep, I got my boxed set, with the three rule books packed inside it. I originally ordered $200 worth of Mars Attacks / Deadzone stuff through my pledge, but aside from the rulebooks, I don't have any of that other stuff yet. I guess $200 counts as a small order for a Mantic kickstarter? If I were them, I would have kept my box set and sent it with everything else in one go to save on shipping. Not that I'm complaining.

If $200 is a small order, I wonder how much Mantic's perspective on customer spending has been skewed by KS.

I believe by small they mean 'small enough to send by royal mail'. Anything under 4kg apparently, which coincidentally is orders of 200 or less. From what I understand.

I never have understood why people assume that being a KS backer means that they should get their pledge before anything is sold at retail. The case is usually when delivered the mass of stuff they get contains many items that will not be released at retail for months, or even a year in the case of the KOW KS.

Incidentally did you ever get your Martian helmets that were missing from your Gencon box Grim?

Nah or you'd see pictures

THey're supposed to add them to my shipment, so we'll see if that happens or if I get to fill out another survey

Maybe they'll mess up their shipping a little as per usual, and forget they already gave me my core box

In some cases the producers specifically state KS backers will receive their items before those items are sold at retail. When that promise is made it seems pretty reasonable to expect it to be kept. I know not all producers make that promise, but those that do should be held to it.

Alien Dungeon with their All Quiet on the Martian Front KS made that promise multiple times, then threw it out the window and now sells and ships some items to retail purchasers which KS backers are still waiting for. In my opinion that is despicable.

That sounds pretty annoying considering the folks who backed it on KS are supposedly the first in the queue to receive the new goodies. Just sounds like "Well, they've funded our project, let's sell their stuff to the general public first!" there lol.

@DaveC: The stuff in the pic looks like it's been painted to me. The ruined buildings you get with MA are red plastic.

On a further note, has anyone based in the UK here received their MA goodies yet? I have yet to receive the $50 scenery rewards and some other various bits n pieces I added on credit.

if that is a promise on a particular KS then fair enough, but I do not recall Mantic making any such promises on their projects.

I can't say for the minis of that pic, but the scenery looks like the same color that mine came in, kind of tan.

As far as other people getting stuff retail before backers well... ideally it wouldn't happen. But I dunno I mean considering backers tend to get a years worth of retail releases at one time, sure they get some stuff potentially late, they can get a lot of other stuff way early.

Of course I'd be talking out my butt if I said we were getting a lot of things way before they hit retail for deadzone, it'll depend on the kickstarter and the release schedule.

So it comes down to the logistics and expense of shipping every item piecemeal to backers as it's completed vs. one lump shipment, and the other end where they've got stuff done and factory time available to make more and start actually turning a profit from their new tools and such as opposed to just sitting still and spinning their wheels to make sure we all get our stuff 100% first before anything sees retail. Not to mention the availability of retail pledge levels.

Kind of sucks? Sure. But I get it.

I don't, if this is not their first ks then they know how long these things take and they should be communicating that during the ks funding period. If mierce can work out a multi phased shipping schedule a year in advance using a big pool of independent sculptors then why can't mantic and they have everything in house seemingly?

I have been given notice that my shipping has slipped to mid November already, I saw that coming a mile of, why didn't mantic and why weren't they more conservative with their dates? Poor project management and customer expectation setting.

Received a small shipment today here in Australia

Box game + 3 paper mats + 2 rulebooks.

Note packaged with game says that the rest is to come but they shipped so we could start playing the game as soon as possible.

Very happy!

How's the general quality of the box set?

I loved the film, and thinking of ordering the box when I get paid, but if the early batches have issues or something I might hold.

The only issues I've sen brought up are the poor fit of the clear helmets for the Martians, and some folks surprised and upset that a folded paper playing mat has creases....

Thanks, man. That doesn't sound too bad. I worried over melted plastic and the like.

Might just order it then at the end of the month

Some things may be bent. Hot water should fix it but you'll have to be patient, I've had a couple of things creep back to their original positions so over-bending may be necessary to trick the shape memory. Mostly just droopy gun barrels and not all of them, just a few.

Some of the human faces are a little soft on detail, it's not a big deal unless you buy the box thinking you'll be getting highest quality resin or Infinity grade metal.

My helmets were missing from my box (they're hard to find in the box but usually are there, but I got mine at GenCon and there was kind of a packing snafu) so I can't really comment.

Material cleans pretty easily, paints up just fine. Here's a gallery of my unboxing and everything I've done so far, mind you it's all quick tabletop quality work...

Minis - Zombicide level of quality. Im sure if you put a couple in a zombicide set and showed someone they wouldnt know the difference .The marines and martians are light and easily identifyable as individuals but the red for the characters makes them a bit darker so at a distance it could be difficult to tell who is who. Note - I havent opened the martian helmets so i cant comment on their fit, Im not sure I will even bother putting them on the models as i think they are prefectly usable without them with an 'invisible environmental shield'

Rulebooks - Great quality printing and colour, havent had a thorough read but they seem nicely laid out. They arnt too thick as the rules are reasonably light but that look good. Some people will be disappointed that new rules and units are spread out over multiple books but thats because there is 1 box set rulebook and then 2 expansion books which helps keep the basic game relatively simple for new players that can then purchase expansion if they so choose..

Terrain - havent cracked them open but I thought the colour would be more red rather than the pale colour they are, still seem good with a few barricades, lampposts and letterboxes for variety. I wonder if the connectors are going to be a little more forgiving for those that had alot of problems with breakages in DZ

Map - Paper the same as the DZ maps, I did notice a slight difference in texture and thickness (very slight) between the box map and the 3 extra maps. The extra maps feel slightly thicker and they are folded in a different direction (wow I know )

Cards - pretty good, I would definately recommend sleeving to protect them. Some people have mentioned the card images looking cartoonish and cheap, I can understand where they are coming from but I think it fits the 'comic book' theme/style

Overall I am very happy with the contents, its a 'crack it open and start playing' box game which is a refreshing change from some other 'assembly required' games that can be frustrating.

What would I change
- Reconsider the plastic colour choice of the terrain and also the hero models

Hope that helps

Well, I have no experience with either Zombiecide or Deadzone, so I have no reference there, hehe. But the coloured plastic doesn't matter much as I plan on painting the stuff. I take it that it's perfectly decent, at least.

Thanks for the write-ups, guys!

So this is your full-sized order that doesn't include the GSR?
