neil - lol, Even over your way that's a bit frowned on Hey it looked good on your ogryn, just keep at it - it's slow, but I don't find it tedious at all, rather relaxing strangely.
weety - Cheers! A few months old, just before Christmas I think was the last time I showed it, it had the camo scheme on by then
bigfish - Thanks man!
ldd - Thanks again!
vik - Cheers - it's a lot simpler than it looks. Once the base colours have been finished and highlighted, etc. I apply whatever I want the primer to be with a sponge, then add a bit more with a brush where I think it's required. In this case (as often) I used Chardonon Granite. Then Bleached Bone highlights along the lower edge and wherever else the light would catch it. I generally paint as though the light is above and to the left as seen from the mini's point of view, so highlights tend to be to the bottom and the mini's right.
The trick is using a good fine brush. For this I used a Series 7 00, it doesn't look as fine as some of my others, but works better, as it has a good tip and holds more paint in the bristles, the 0000's I normally use for this need to be recharged after every stroke most of the time.
I'll try and remember to take some step-by-step pics next time I do some.
Selvaggio - I use a sponge, then a fine brush for extra detail where I want it.
Avoided the wasteland and put together the start of another building piece. With added comic-porn especially for vik
And together with an earlier piece.
Also did some more to the looted wagon.
That's almost like two Sunday updates for the price of one!

hmmm... tasty comic--onrop^^ which brings me to the question...why do you buy tradepaperbacks and not the original issues? are these handlettered? just asking as in germany these edition often get typelettering in the speachbubbles... which i think is a horrible way of lettering a comic... i only found out the difference after reading for the first time a marvel comic back in the days... used then before to read only german books and it was a revelation.... also if one has a tough stomach i recommend reading a german version of mickey mouse.... it is rather a horror comic book for the text... really go and see it for yourself if you ever have the oportunity... it is thus that i won´t give comics these days so easily to my kids... i want to give them the real thing... but that means they have to read them in english... or if you want a totally wasted time... read any older x-men book in german first and then thre original english version... it is (just a hazzy guess) about a third of text shorter... *grrrrr*
the description of your weathering/chipping methode sounds good... i really have to make a battered tank for one to try this out^^
about your recent terrain updates: what i really like about thee are the halfround shaped habs... that is a very clever idea and gives a most unique look!!!
and tho ther famous flashkiller was on his way when ou took the pics of your looted wagon...i can say it is developing quite fast... mind if i ask if the grey mass underneath is just a means to support it for the pic or an inteded addition???
cheers, vik

weety - Ahh yes. Mark Twain and Nikolai Tesla with a 'titan' against the black magic of Edison, Marconi and J P Morgan
The kill-kannon for the grav tank is getting more ramshackle too - the 'boiler' type thing has fallen off several times and is probably more glue than poly and plastic now
vik - Glad you like They re-letter the tpb's in Germany? That's a crime I have individual comics as well, there's a trunk full of them back at my folks But I stopped buying them years ago, the tpb's are easier and far more convenient to store and read. Plus I don't have to worry about missing an issue, can pick them up when I have spare cash, get stories I missed at the time, etc. Can't keep up with everything out there, so I can pick and choose stuff that sounds interesting.
Yep, about time you got some more tanks on the go
Yeah, I'll be playing more with the half-rounds.
That is just a bit of terrain for pic support Not got round to drilling out a mounting hole yet.
Selvaggio - Cheers Definitely one of the best, if not the best
Another day, another new piece started.

very nice terrain!
My biggest beef with Warhammer games is, due to the movement restrictions and things of that nature, the game doesn't take advantage of having massive city terrain with criss-crossing walkways etc. It takes nearly a full game just to get across the table, much less up 4 levels, across 2 catwalks, etc.

so start the multi level fun in your deployment zone and have several bridges that span the table? Warmill's raised highway sections should be good for that sort of thing once they are released....
Hmmm I'm getting images of a mahoosive industrial area with two big built up areas with maybe some sort of production line in the middle and multilevel walkways and raised roads cris crossing the gap above..... I might have to build this.

shaso - For some reason it makes me think of a Frank Llyod Wright beach house
Goresaw - Yeah, I kinda figured it might not work so well in a real game, but as I don't game that's not a huge issue for me Back in RT days we mainly played with warbands and probably messed about with the movement rules as we preferred 'interesting' terrain.
mullet - The sort of thing we used to do was make the actual tabletop an acid swamp or such-like, so all the minis had to stay on walkways, rooftops etc. As Goresaw said, don't think you could work that without a lot of rules-fiddling - or maybe just really big walkways
I'll head to the desk shortly and see if I can concentrate on not starting more terrain

that new piece is especially charming for my because i seem to recall you never used the bend curogated iron look...( i might be wrong...but i think not...^^) more of that...
what i don´t like that much with tpb´s is that you have bite sized chunks of stories... personally i like the endless taste of a story...but that´s just me^^

Not dead, not banned, not arrested, just lack of internet and being mental busy. Still no interwebby thing, and still busy as, but off work and on a wi-fi dongle, so let's get some hobby stuff done...
vik - Thanks, I have used it and not shown it I think, it's just a natural way for corrugated iron sheets to act.
dstein - That's one of the EMA connecting bends, no need for ardous bending Although there is a need for filling punch holes.
The corrugated sheet is available from EMA/Evergreen too, and Atenociti's Workshop as well I think.
I'll take a close up when the whole piece is finished, but it's just a couple of squares and circles stuck to a thicker rectangle, with a qurter-round on top and somw wires stuck below.
neil - Knew you'd enjoy And I've been building another bookcase, so maybe more of the big books in the future.
It's getting there, but not there yet, even after all this time
Bangbang - Not great as a general background I know, but nice as a bit of book-porn for those that enjoy, not frequently used, and not for major pics. And cheers, glad you like it.
Certainly not two months worth of work to show, mainly just a few days worth, c'est la vie.
First point of interest - supply drop, courtesy of Zinge...
Excellent quality as always. A big ol' engine, some hatches, fans and vents, plus a few pistols and power cables.
Still on a terrain tip, so sure some of those are going to be useful.
Touch of colour to a couple of buildings.
Most of the solid colours down, weathering and details started on the beach-hut, sporadic weathering started early on some of the other.
The corrugated iron on the beach-hut started with a heavy silver drybrush over black. Drops of blue and black wash were then dropped on and a wet brush used to 'blend' the washes all over. Once dry a few random splotches of sepia and flesh wash were added.
Then red, purple and green washes were dropped on and blended with a high water ratio. A wash from macharius orange was used for the rust, then some devlan and flesh patches were added.
The rivets have been hit up with silver, I need to devlan and sepia around those again, maybe turn a few to brass with some verdigris, then check for anywhere that wants runs/drips, and some weathering powders after sealing.
More fun with household junk
Cookie packets and some interesting shaped packaging from something. No idea what now, even though I only grabbed that the other week. All looked useful, so into the cave they went. The cookie packs got a few heavy coats of pva on the inside to help strengthen them up.
Then they got stuck to bases (thick plasticard in this case) and got more bits stuck to them. A bit like Blue Peter, only with more litter.
And finished off with a nice layer of pva to seal it all and provide a nice key for some colour - that shiny plastic doesn't like paint much.
Oh look, they got coloured in a bit too, fancy that. Did I mention those lovely Zinge hatches open and close? I didn't think of using the hatch till late so there's no point to it on this piece, but nice to know hey?
Decided a couple of cheap ruined silo-buildings would be nice and easy...
And they were. Hmm, I reckon that's three bits of terrain I've completed this year. I'd better keep with the 'T' theme and get some lovin' directed at trukks some time soon. 2 months left?
And a few new pieces that are taking shape...
A bronzey thing set in a concrete thing...never know when it could be useful...
A walkway through the buiding...got some keen old orkitects designing this stuff, oh yes.
An elevated building. Whilst cannabalising a set of drawers to make a bookcase I thought the sliders might make cool girders for something heavy-duty. A few days later picked them up, and yes, there is a cool use for them.
And a bonus pic of the camp so far (4'x2')
There's been a few splashes of colour hitting vehicles and boys, but nothing worth showing yet. I seem to be better motivated to put colour on terrain, so whilst I've got a colour on the go, I'll see if any of the boyz fancy a splash.
Right, 2 months worth of dakka to catch up on....
Bugger, that's going to take a while. I may be a bit sporadic over the next week or so whilst I'm on the dongle, but I will catch up with all your blogs at some point
