Indeed.

I cannot believe some of you are actually arguing about the real world physics skull-buggery that would be required to allow that "joke" - actually a really brilliant kitbash of a bunch of toys - to fly.

That, my friends, is truly an epic troll.

And yes, I wrote "skull-buggery".

So...Since we know the price of the models, that the models are currently up for pre-order, the rules are in WD, everyone has seen the pictures 100x over, and we've been off-topic for a few pages, can we call this thread done?

In a thread dictated to news and rumors I honestly dont see the point to this. It is like going over rules about a model when there is a rule discussion thread on it. Absolutely pointless. I am still trying to figure out hos this thread has not been locked by now.

As for the Blue Skidoo. Ohh that would be a blast, while your trying to turn that thing without breaking a wing or 3 I will easily blast you out of the sky.

Y'all need to get back on topic, or you won't have to worry about the state of the thread for at least a few days.

Its two Valks and a LR kit, and it wasn't done for the april fool's purpose, it was done by a guy on the WiP forums for a count as Chaos ceastus.

in all honesty, the storm talon looks fantastic in person...its not the most photogenic model, but its not bad either...i just finished painting my first one, and im actually impressed...a word of advice for anyone getting the model: be careful with the side weapons...i accidentally mounted mine backwards and had to spend half an hour undoing 3 seconds of damage...they look like they go the other way round than they actually do.

Why not just mount them with magnets?

also, it only comes with 1 of each half (1 inside half, 2 outside halves) i glued the inside halves on the wrong sides, that part wouldnt be magnetized only the part that is the specific weapon

Good plan GW!

You're trying too hard to find something to ridicule GW about with this.

Just so you know.

I do have storm raven for both my GK and BA army.
While I own bunch of SM related stuff, I have never started a Vanilla Marine army,

Which I will now with storm talon.

In other words, I was serious vroooooooom~

I started a BA army over a SW army for the single reason of the Stormraven looking cooler then armoured wolf calvary (though cool as well, the Stormraven is just pure amazing win.)

I happen to like the new influx of fighters, the big thing I noticed on the Razorwing and the Ork fighters is they are listed at 45 bucks instead of the 75 the other flyers have. Anyway, I like the idea of fighters in this game and I got my fingers crossed for a Hell Talon or some other kind of fighter for my Red Corsairs to play with.

I don't really understand this. I don't like the Stormtalon model, but how does making it look more like the conventional helicopter on which it was based improve it? It's a Space Marine flyer, not a US Marine helicopter.

I got my Stormtalon today when I was at the shop playing a game or two. I can't wait to see how ugly the lil guy turns out. It is a lot smaller than you would think. Now if only the rumors of the Haroy being in the next WD are true I will be happy.

Just built up a stormtalon yesterday. The kits is really easy to put together. Also, the mounts for the side weapons come in twos. There is one type for missiles and a litle magnet or pin can allow either to be put on. There is also a seperate mount for the lascannon Heavy Bolters, so you could have 3 weapons with magnetising, as well as the assault cannon, which can be taken on and off. Just make sure the chin mounting is solid dry.

The only qualm I have is the pilot. I want to paint him seperate so I can do trasnfers, and also the cockpit seperately. However, the control consol goes over his legs, so in order to fully paint the techy, you need to have the parts (head, arms, shoulders, torso and legs, as well as console) seperate, then glue the legs, then console, then built up the body.

However, one thing I will praise is the canopy. Remember on the stormraven there were 2 plastic strips you had to GLUE onto the clear plastic canopy to make the frame, and how glue permanently smudges the clear platic? Well, this doesn't. It just has the frame sculpted onto the clear plastic, so you paint it right on.

Building the new Night Scythe is awesomely easy. Several body parts snap on and dont need glue, although I still glued it for reinforcement as per the directions. I built one in 2 hours with just my scalpel.

If you look at it as a jet, it seems wrong (That would never fly!)

But if you think it's a copter, it works.

I guess it depends on what kind of flying thing you think it is. We hold them to diferent standerds. Helicopters are suposed to be brutal, squat, weapons platforms. Jets should be more sleek and graceful. And the Stormtalon is giving off the helecopter gunship vibe.

Nevelon wrote:If you look at it as a jet, it seems wrong (That would never fly!).

It's not meant to be a jet. It's meant to be a high tech replacement for a helicopter gunship.

Turning it into an actual helicopter is therefore either kind of cool, or just defeating the point, depending on your viewpoint.

Yeah I was amazed at how easy mine went togethor took about 30 mins to assemble it to the level where I could field it in the game we played that day I was very pleased with how the upper and lower halves just sort of snap into place and it's really flush no gaps, though to be fair it isn't the most complex design.

Got my storm talons on Friday, and I like the set. The question I had was why such an enormous box for the model? It could have fit in a box 1/2 as small, were they originally going to be two to a box or did they plan for future releases to have additional add ons? Also the multi language print on the front made me laugh. Being dyslexic I read the German to be angryfish with a cursory glance.

After watching a few unboxing videos, I'm surprised at how small the vehicle actually is. I don't know if it was just me but the original pics released made it seem rather large personally. The last few minutes of the video has some stills next to other marine vehicles as well as compares the huge assault cannon with the one from the ravenwing kit.
