Okay, weird question that goes back to the mian topic, shouldn't the codex: astartes actually be available for preorder by now? Assuming it is still coming this month, there are two weeks left. I'd assume they'd want at least a little bit of time.
Probably will go up for presale next weekend. That will give it a launch date of the last weekend of July.

Cutting stuff up and bunging it back together in new and interesting ways.

Over there...

Aggressors are underwhelming. The missile pods look tacked-on, and the gauntlet guns sticking out diagonally just look awkward.

Reivers are cool, aside from the lack of helmets and the extended grapple.

I like the reiver sergeant. I didn't realize from the previous pics that the reivers were heartless with only face masks.

Two grappling hooks. Maybe some sort of special weapon?

I swear I'm not a paid shill for Anvil Industry.

I hope they work like Magna Grappels for the Furioso Dreadnought, by allowing the Reivers to close easier. I can't imagine getting shot by one would be at all pleasant for the target though.

maybe a unit equipped with one can charge at X distance instead of a dice roll?I'm sure GW's heard our complaints about random charge distances eneugh to know a unit option for reliable charge distances would be well received

I was thinking it would just add to charge distance. But that would be cool as well.

Aye, the basic core of the setting is "muh tone", that's some top level discussion there

If you want to assert that Guilliman of all loyalist primarchs being brought back was a mistake because he's far too reasonable and intelligent to fit the tone of the 41st millennium, then okay, fair enough. Twisting the character's personality into a 180 after the fact however is silly.

Oh, I have, do, and will continue to, but that doesn't mean I can't also criticise the things he does now they have brought him back. For example, adhering to his personality hasn't stopped GW deciding he's cool beans with the Ecclesiarchy and a lot of other deranged "muh tone" stuff about 40K, because adhering to his personality isn't their motivation - he's updating and changing the Codex because GW wanted to slot Primaris into existing chapters, and he's not changing any of the other deranged stuff because GW still want to be able to sell the associated models.

That's their right as the owners of the IP, of course, but them or fans pretending it's actually some deep commitment to character-driven storytelling that's behind their choices is just silly.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

He isnt OK because his values have suddenly changed, he's OK because he doesn't have a choice. What codex changes has he made? Adding to the codex to account for Primaris doesn't mean he changed it regarding the rest. I'm not extremely well informed on 40k fluff though so maybe he did change it and I just haven't heard.

we know he's made some revisions to the codex per Dark Imperium, we do not know how through the revisions are. I suspect the revisions are two fold. the first to allow GW to slide the Primaris Marines in, the second to address some of the little bits of the codex that have always bugged us.

as for his acceptance of the Eccleisarchy, it is TOTALLY within the realm of his character. the ONE trait that defined Gulliman more then ANY other trait was pragmatism. Gulliman is the Primarch MOST likely to accept and try to work with the Ecclisarchy. because Gulliman would be able to reckongize that it's pratical. Dorn? Russ? yeah THEY might go and do something stupid. not Gulliman

Huh, I actually liked the helmets better. Lets hope the set comes with 10 helmets and 10 half-masks, it'd be great for night lords.

Some proper leaks finally Thanks or posting. I like both units.

I wonder how the Agressors will look in Deathwing colour scheme. Organisation-wise they could be added to the battle companies though. Will they be green? I'm looking forward to some fluff regarding the chapter/company organisations of these units.

Pretty interesting times for Marine players ahead which I honestly enjoy witnessing and taking part in.

These new units will bring quite a breath of fresh air to SM armies.

I'm wondering in 5-10 years these will just be space marines and 'space marines' will be what empire/bretonia is now to stormcast. Just been reading the DM novel, really does seem like a patchover but this has been debated a million times.

seems a bit weird to me the revilers dont have helmets at all, i get its an aesthetic thing but whats left of practicality in 40k... cmon.

bit underwhelmed by the aggressors to, kinda like bite-sized marneus centurions...

good job i play chaos, back to my first point i'm very interested to see what happens to their 'stock' marines. DG already got the primaris bump.

Given 2/3 of the easy build Reivers have full lids let's not proclaim the sky is falling until we've seen the sprues, eh?

Could very well be 10 full hats in there too, especially given the comments in other places by the designers saying they took pains to ensure helmetless models always had a helmet on their belt, etc.

But, like what if they could deepstrike wherever, but had to end within X inches of terrain??

then that'd honestly kinda suck as their use would be VERY VERY dependant on external factors, they'd be potentially broken in say a "cities of death" style set up, but your typical tournment they'd be useless

From that perspective, they're brilliant.

Out of curiosity, do you do "Truescale" Eldar, Necrons, Orks and such too? After all, all of those are in the fluff roughly marine height one way or the other.

Fair point.

For the Eldar, no. However, has anyone scaled the new triumvirate box?

For Orks, GW has already been upscaling these over time if you pick the right base figures, so it's really a matter of being judicious in your purchases and doing a little kitbashing.
