I am curious how you converted the heavy weapons team lying down, or where you got those models. I was thinking about trying it for my guard team, but didn't really know where to start. Everything looks awesome, I really like the plasma weapons.

Im sorry but i didn't take any WIP for the heavy bolter team, but its basically all part from the cadian troops box with a very small amount of cutting & GS. The gunners arms were off the heavy weapons team to and of course the heads form FW

I just put up so fresh pics here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/283264.page - Its a command squad in the same colours for a commission, but think it is relevant.

Just a little update to show the progress of the command squad.

That Rex model is simply outstanding! The glowing effects adds something interesting to the model, the red cape is also contrasting wounderfully to the otherwise cold model. Awesome

I came...I saw (and drooled a bit)....I bookmarked!

This is one of the most well executed themes I have ever seen. Ever!

May I ask how you got such a crisp white?

im afraid unless you want to GS the masks, FW is the only place.

As for the white. Its Dheneb stone, Devlan Mud wash, built back up with Dheneb stone and white, using about 5 mixed layers in total.

Hope that helps.

Ya, but there not the same quality/detail or design. i also find some of the stuff isn't quite the right scale either. Still i spoze a cheaper substitute.

Its really impressive, not just the painting but that you can stick to painting guard continuously :L I get bored really quickly and move to another project! Hence why my guard blog has not been updated and i'm about to start a blood raven one!

Kudos to you my friend!

Thanks.

It is quite tough, i have to admit that painting guard is the hardest set of minis if done, not because they are hard minis to paint, they just take ages. SM's are much quicker.

I am getting a little board of this army, but it has happened before and i have come back to it.

Im not sure what i want to do next, i want to improve my sculpting, so im thinking of doing a few charater minis. I thought about nurgle sm captain?

Any ideas?

Scratch build a SM librarian, blood ravens would be characterful (i may buy it from you then for my army ) it would give you a chance to practice GS-ing

Well, its hard to say without more info, but i would say around £50 unpainted. But that is a bit of a stab in the dark.

hmmmm...I'm guessing that would be about doubled if painted. :/ I dunno, I don't really have that kinda money to spare really just now but maybe...

The white fatigues are Dheneb stone, Devlan Mud wash, built back up with Dheneb stone then a gradual dark to light mix of Dheneb and white, using about 5 mixed layers in total.

Some lovely stuff here, gives me plenty of inspiration for my pieces, especially the diorama I'm working on.

I was also taking a look at your website, looking good, nice layout and loads reasonably quickly - noticed you're using 1&1 - that's who I'm with as well... My only real suggestion would be to get someone to proof read the content for you - noticed a few typos in there (e.g. Current Commissions is misspelt as Cimmisions, also your tagline reads There not toys! There MINIATURE! - should be They're not toys! They're MINIATURES!

It's so easily done... One of the many items holding my website up at the moment is I keep finding mistakes and rewriting, then finding more mistakes - bit of a vicious circle really, but I'm enjoying learning all about web design in the process... I also manage a presentation graphics team for an investment bank so know how important spelling and grammar is, but doesn't mean I'm any good at it - if it wasn't for auto spell checking I don't know where I'd be!!

Anyhow, keep up the good work fellow 1&1er...
