First off why is skulltaker getting to your mc's? I'm not responsible for people not running a proper screen of very tiny and numerous bugs. Same with force weapons with the added bit that they only have a 50% chance at even wounding on the charge along with a 50% chance of it not going off at all due to Shadows. Jaws just sucks but that's a bad match-up for 'Nids anyway and it's a power that is pretty useless against all other opponents so unless a guy only fears 'Nids you won't really see it much. All armies have a single codex at least that they normally don't wanna run into. SW is ours.

Both the Pavane of Slaanesh, and the Lash of Submission can be used to clear screening units out of the way for a unit to charge Monstrous Creatures.

Which is 36 wounds which is 9 of the old big bugs. Granted I might have to drop a single model at 1850 which means only have 32 T6 Wounds. And you'll still be more effective than the old Nidzilla codex was.
32 T6 wounds at 1850 = 8 4-wound MCs. Which is just as many as we used to be able to bring.
The difference is that now, all those MCs are WS3 where they used to be WS4, I1 where they used to be I2, have 3+ saves where they used to have 2+ saves, and still lack any anti-tank guns whatsoever.

Oh whine a little more whydontcha? Don't you know that Carnifexes are so last Codex. This year it's all about the new plastic release - the Trygon. GW has already sold Carnifexes to everyone, so they don't care if the rules suck - they've made their money - but they've got a new kit out, so go buy that instead!

........and the Trygon isn't all that great rules wise either. I'll take carnifex over Trygon for popping dreadnaughts and tanks, TYVM.

If you want an assaulty MC, the Trygon is stupidly broken next to the Carnifex. I am not suggesting the Carnifex is balanced or anything, but point for point... I think they want you to buy the kit (who would not have anyway?).

For infantry it's good. For killing walkers a carnifex or OOE will do it better and cheaper.
OOE this weekend did more killing than the Trygon did.

the zoanthropes are awesome! penetrating land raiders on 3+!!!
and what about old one eye? S10, on a 5+ he regains a wound? awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyranids really shouldn't have special characters though, if they turned out so good, the hive mind would make tons of 'em, not just keep one.

Zoanthropes penetrate LRs on a 3+ if they can get past the psychic hood nonsense and other psyker nullifying tools. And against Eldar those go down to STR8, and turn into 4+ to glance.

I don't do enough with tyranids to comment on the rules, but i really don't like how they described the nids. They gave the nids way to much individuality, the hive tyrant especially. The only thing he's missing is a day job and a family. And they talk about the hive mind in human terms. I know the hive mind can addapt, but terms like "deciding" etc shouldn't apply to it. It's sort of subtle stuff, but I don't like it. It makes it sound like the zerg, where the overmind talks and the cerebrates talk in english.

Zoans are still aweosme! There's two in my 1000pt list i've written. They're good becasue:
1) Warp Lance is awesome (yes the eldar make it a lot worse, but that's eldar) and they can still do a lot of damage with it. Also it's not limited to tanks, you coul duse it to fry a few termies or T5 creatures with lots of wounds that would normall ybe quite hard to kill.
2) Warp Blast is also very good. I mean what's not to like about a blast attack that hits through power armour? It also wounds MEQ's on a 3+.
3) They're snapsyse and have shadow in the warp which is always good.
4) With a 3+ inv save and 2 wounds they're quite hardy too.
