Death Korps of Krieg suicidal psycho's and expensive models
Elysian Drop Troops Can never EVER win a dam campaign. they are cool but always loose in the long run *expensive models too*
Mordian Iron Guard badass with night vision like cadians face some scary horrors, but are like robots with there discipline. not much character.
Praetorian Guard LOL never liked their style.
Savlar Chem-Dogs druggies! no models, cool story but no BADASS cannon and characters
Steel Legion short people? look at their size. cool story yarriks pretty badass too but they are just meat for the grinder. are pretty badass though
Tallarn Desert Raiders COOL but i think tie with steal legion with their badass levels probly more because they pwnd DAEMONS!.
Tanith First & Only not much i know about them other than being really sneaky
Valhallan Ice Warriors are exactly like Russians in WW2
Vostroyan Firstborn don't like them very much. got pretty thrashed in Medusa V so there's no real baddassity to them

not even buddy, a Hive City is a Hive City, a Cadian Hive City is a bulwark with force fields, anti-space craft cannons, weaving streets with no large open fire lanes that force enemies into thier death as they advance. the Cadians fight a constant war that if it were ever lost could spell the doom of an entire segmentum and more, if they ever lost then even all the reinforcments that could even fit on the planet couldn't fight the enemy back to the gate. every citizen, EVERY citizen that follows the Emperor knows how to fight by the age of 15, there are no helpless screeming masses, unlike 85% of Imperial Worlds

really, the only people who can compare are the Catachans with a world that is thier enemy and asset. a world that can kill them but can more easily kill unwary invaders. a world where it is they that keep the enemy spooked, all worried that a bunch of commandos are gonna start blasting from the forest. it's a place where enemies feel more helpless than a band of heritics on Tallarn, Valhalla or any other place because if the Catachans don't get you then the indigenous life forms will, every time

All the big regiments are constantly fighting, this is 40k after all. Mordians fought off a full daemon invasion. Tallarn fought the largest tank battles in the fluff and beat a Chaos Marine legion after they virus bombed the planet and turned it into a wasteland. Kriegers nuked their entire world...and then fought a trenchwar over it...for 500 years. Armageddon...self-explanatory

I'll agree Cadians are the most 'normal" of all them. They're like the Ultramarines of the Guard. You need normal guys though. First plastic IG army was Catachans and they didn't sell so well I believe because people were looking for something more normal.

As for those other guys.
Catachan has many civilians. So does Armageddon, Mordia and Valhalla. Don't know about Krieg: most people there are dead....

Sure, Catachan has civilians...until they're formally placed into the IG; Catachan is, arguably, the most dangerous Death World, remember? Armageddon has civilians, until they're all conscripted during an ork waaagh or a Chaos invasion; same with Mordia and Valhalla

Armageddon probably has more people in hive gang militia than in the actual Steel Legion. Everyone on that planet is fighting Orks but most are do-it-youselfing it. Also most Catachans are not in the Imperial Guard. Ditto with Mordia and Valhalla.

That's the thing about Cadia: Most people are actual Rifle carrying Imperial Guard. 71.75% of the population. The rest: work for the Imperial Guard.

most imperial planets are relatively peaceful their troops are usualy fighting halfway across the galaxy somewher they've neve heard of.
its just planets o the eastern galactic border, near the eye of terror and those that share a border with someone nasty that become these well known 'badass' regiments.

Tallarn is in the South. Mordia is in the North. Krieg is in the South. Tanith was in West. Armaggedon is near Terra. Vostroya is in the North. Praetoria is in the South. So actually most of the regiments are not in the East.

Well, you only need to look at the BRB to see that Cadia isn't the ONLY Fortress/Garrison World out there. The planet itself is not unique, the fact that it is particularily vital (due to close proximity to the EoT) is.

cadia is unique for 1)necron pylons, 2)imperiums most fortifiyed /largest fortress world.unlike some otheworlds the loss of cadia means doom to the imperium. if you look in the BRB adia sends advisors to other fortress worlds to support them

There are other fortress worlds but its true The Imperium goes to all the other planets "why can't you be more like cadia"

Serisously though, my army uses the Cadian models. Though my backstory for them is that they are a regiment from a different planet, I still think Cadians are really interesting and have plenty of character. I think sometimes when people say that a army isn't interesting or doesn't have character, they really mean it isn't obscure enough!

As a world itself Cadia is much like any other Fortress/Garrison world. What IS unique is that the entire system/nearby sector have been fortified entirely (Kasr Lyrona ect?). Few, if any, systems are fortifed anywhere near to this extent. The actual worldly basis of Cadia is far from unique.
