Obviously he did not. Necron Pylons allow Cadia to not be consumed by The Eye of Terror. It's the only route in and out of The Eye of Terror. That's why its called 'The Cadian gate". It's the only planet that needs pylons. Can't believe I'm even explaining this. It must be GWs most repeated story besides "Ultramarines killed a whole lot of Tyranids".

You do realise that the EoT came into being after the Fall of the Eldar Empire, right? The Fall occurred after the Necrons (were defeated and) went into Slumber. They were sleeping, for millenium. Not buliding anything or Exterminating, just sleeping. So...how could the Necron Pylons possibly have been built after the Fall?

BTW, the only mention of Necron Pylons on Cadia that I can recall was Eisenhorn: Ordo Malleus. That and a short excerpt elsewhere, the source escapes me. Maybe Leximechanum can offer more?

Death Korps of Krieg

They are sent to the worst places, to fight the LONG battles, they take countless losses (they have to use cloning to keep up), their comrades are faceless, taking away what little humanity they had left.

Not to mention they NUKED THEIR OWN PLANET TO KILL THE INFIDELS, now that's being a total baller.

If all the animals eat people, why are the plants dangerous? Second, if you live your whole life in a constant state of peril, fighting to survive every day, you don't end up a bronzed, muscly superman, you become a scrawny, super-sharp paranoid animal. Thirdly, how does a planet with these issues (only the best survive through puberty apparently) provide enough people to send so many regiments to war, and at the same time maintain a viable gene-pool?

Bit tongue in cheek there, I know it's a game where men cross the galaxy in 5km-long ships to fight with swords, but hey - IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!

David Drake wrote a book about mercenaries fighting on Venus. Every frigging plant there would try to eat you because the soil was poor, so everything on the planet evolved like Venus fly-traps to eat other things. I assume the same applies on Catachan

I wouldn't say that. Cadia is an interesting Idea: an entire planet under arms at all times out of neccesity. I see them as a long suffering people. They have so many men killed in battle that there isn't enough land for all the tombstones.

Just like every other imperial planet...

like?

Like 95% of Imperial Guard regiments? All of them lose enormous amounts of men...it's the fething IG after all. All of them suffer, it's just that with the Vostroyans, or the Death Korps, or the Mordians, they do it with actual character

I'm quite surprised with the Catachan poll numbers. It implies that GW was right to release plastic Catachans before Cadian...which they weren't. Pretty sure Cadians sell better than Catachans. Of course that could just be a reflection on the actual models rather than the "fluff".

I'd say Cadians. I don't know why but they seem the most relatble and far more "everyman-esque" than the other guys. Also the coolest individual guardsman has to be Olanius Pius, no contest.

The poll is about which regiment has the most badass fluff, not which regiment you'd like to play or which models look the best. The plastic Catachans were a questionable decision because Catachans are too distinctive to represent any more than a small slice of the full diversity of the Imperial Guard, so much so that they even had their own codex for a while. It's like releasing plastic Space Wolves but not regular Space Marines. They might have really great background material but it makes more sense to have tons of people buying plastic Cadians and painting them up in their custom regimental colors. A more common objection to the plastic Catachan models is that they're ugly.

Aren't necrons in general completely at odds with the working of the warp? Your line of arguement is just ignoring my point. The Necron pylons cannot have been built for the purpose of containing the EoT, as the EoT only came into existence after the Necrons entered their slumber.
