Aren't necrons in general completely at odds with the working of the warp? Your line of arguement is just ignoring my point. The Necron pylons cannot have been built for the purpose of containing the EoT, as the EoT only came into existence after the Necrons entered their slumber.

I'm saying Necrons actively persue Anti-warp technology. Pariahs for example. They are one of the only species that has never used anything warp related. For example, they may be the only species to not use "warp engines". If it were up to them they would just destroy the warp completely.

I'm not ignoring your arguement. You were saying Cadia wasn't the only Imperial world with Necron Pylons. I'm just saying which other one has it then?

Pretty sure Cadians sell better than Catachans. Of course that could just be a reflection on the actual models rather than the "fluff".
The poll is about which regiment has the most badass fluff, not which regiment you'd like to play or which models look the best. The plastic Catachans were a questionable decision because Catachans are too distinctive to represent any more than a small slice of the full diversity of the Imperial Guard, so much so that they even had their own codex for a while. It's like releasing plastic Space Wolves but not regular Space Marines. They might have really great background material but it makes more sense to have tons of people buying plastic Cadians and painting them up in their custom regimental colors. A more common objection to the plastic Catachan models is that they're ugly.

Yes, that's what I'm saying too.

Have to add my thoughts on the original topic. Cadians.

From a modeling perspective, they look like the IG have ever since there was an IG. I've always felt that the myriad of other IG factions (and attendant models) were a blatant (and lame) attempt by GW to create another revenue stream. It's absolutely ridiculous to watch fur-cloaked Vahallans fighting their way across a table with desert or jungle terrain. And it's hard to take the spit and polish of Mordians seriously, they look like the USMC Drill Team. Catachans... well, all I have to say about them is Rambo- First Blood II. Tallarans look like they could be part of the mujahideen. Cadians are in battle dress uniforms with their helmets strapped down (i.e. real soldiers). The newest incarnation isn't as awesome as the 2nd ed. metal ones, but the fact that they are multi-part plastic offers nearly limitless possibilities for dynamic poses, conversions, etc.

And from a 40K lore perspective, they live near a rift in the fabric of reality and are faced with the very real possibility of being consumed by Chaos every day. Death worlds? Feh. A little Roundup will take care of that problem. Gaping hole that leads into the yawning abyss of eternal madness? Yeah.

Nope. There's a big difference between Necron defense pylons which are really just Gauss AA guns and Cadian Pylons. Cadian pylons form a worldwide network that protects the planet from warpstorms. They're pretty nifty btw.

Warpstorms didn't EXIST before Necrons went to sleep after their war with the Eldar. How can they have been built with the express purpose of defending the planet from the warp?

Primarily as a system of travel and transport. Remember, before the Fall of the Eldar (when the Necrons were already asleep) the warp was a gentle thing that allowed Eldar souls to flit through and reincarnate.
Even if you were to assume that pylons were meant to nullify or defend from the warp, why would Cadia be the only planet to have such pylons?

I am sure the campaign codex of this EoT "success" of GW said explicit those pylons at cadia were of unknown age but predate the first
human settlements and are assumed to counter the warp. Another planet ( hydra cordatus ) was also mentioned which had pylons like the cadian ones. So a single source has 2 worlds with this type of pylons.
Codex necrons blames the old ones to turn the native inhabitants into the creatures we now know as "gods" and "demons".

1) old ones fight Ctan and aim at the weakness of the Ctan -> only powerful in the material realm.
2) a plague of mind controlling aliens drives the Ctan back. But again, these creatures relied upon the warp.
3) Ctan erect anti-warp tech (pylons, cadian type) and bioengineer the pariah/untouchables. Enough intent to assume from IMO.
4) most relics of the era of the "war 60.000 millenia ago", wouldn't exist "today in M41", but some do.
5) The pylons are only described from imperial sources who do not know the functions or intend of them.
6) the effect at the warp could be secondary, and its primary function something else we don't know.
7) Cadia gets some spotlight as it is the gate to the hideout of the traitors. Millions of worlds give us a good chance that cadia isn't the only one with pylons of that sort.
8) Cadia is in front of a former Realm of space elfs, but wasn't swallowed by the warp like other worlds. Maybe Cadia was important before
Humans settled there and the knowledge was lost?

Most badass Guard will be:
- doesn't fear the Nightbringer ( grim reaper in person ), to overcome an inbreed fear and face off a 'stargod' just with a markerlight->

Through the looking glass

I've always liked Cadians because there isn't anything completely over the top about them.

Catachans - We live on a death planet! We choose not to wear armor! We get shot out of the womb ripped from the get go! We're bad ass!

Krieg - Our planet is a death planet! We wear gas masks and our leaders have gas masks that look like skulls! We fight orks and nearly die, but still win! We're bad ass!

Cadian - Our planet is normal. We are constantly assaulted by just about everything, but that's normal. We learn to use weapons early on because it's a necessity, and we go to war because we have to. We die en mass, but that's just how war is, and besides there's always more of us to take our places.

Sector-wide, actually. They're all over the Cadian sector, it's just in a large amount of areas the pylons are damaged beyond functionality.

Its not. It's the only Imperial Planet. Anyways we're getting sidetracked; it is definately The only Imperial Planet in The Cadian Gate. The only stable, permanent pathway between The Materium and Immaterium. Cadians are literally the gatekeepers of hell.

Tanith first and only.. only. The most badass because even though they aren't fully tanith anymore, ibram gaunt is pro as any other fething imperial commander (and more so than most) and because they do what they do with no one on their side xP and who doesn't want super pro troopers that can do just about anything? Vervunhive tank destruction tactics ftw.. give a man a bomb, he blows it up. How many tanks have we killed? about 60. how many men have we lost? about 60.
