A little paint on the Kroot: WIP
going to make their skin a bit like stone with some blues greens mixed in a little bit.
Played a game today: Highlights
1750 Points Eldar vs Tyranids
Seize ground
Tervigon rolls double ones on first spawn roll
Avatar dies turn 2 after doing nothing
eldar runes shuts down Nid Psychic powers
Warp spiders mishap back into reserve
Concentrated fire from Pathfinders do 5 wounds in one turn on a big nid (tyrannofex maybe)
Warp spiders come in behind the enemy lines survive and contest their objective
Glorious Eldar victory!

is it just me or does the eldar on that weapon platform is a bit bigger than the others?
all in all very nicely done, good blending, and a fiery touch to the squad.
are the bases completed i cant really say so with this pic. also i have to say you should adjust your camera to artificial light scource to get a not so red and warm light effect on your models...^^

Nope not even close, all very well reasoned though .
The first is fortune the the icons are kinda stylized shamrocks.
The second is guide its a telescope that the lizard guy is peering through. The snakes are just to emphasize the power and fill a little space.
The third is doom its a skeleton and it holding a nut thing, which is like the mayan icon for the number zero. Because doomed squads will probably be gone at the end of the phase.
Its interesting to see a different interpretation of what i intended. I mostly use them to reminded myself that i used the powers, have the terrible habit of forgetting the rules that benefit me, like using my psychic powers will running two psychers .
Thanks for the compliment, i think that most of the free handing coolness is from having a tiny brush (theres a picture a couple pages back).

Some advice. First off, painting, you need to water down your paints. not alot, just enough that you lose that "chunky" consistency that can cause you to lose detail in recessed areas on the model. additionally and most importantly TAKE YOUR TIME. Seriously, maybe you have a tournament to attend tomorrow, or all your friends are are coming over for a game and brining their shiny fully painted armies and you don't want to feel left out. don't let it bother you, slow the down and work on a model until you are happy/proud of rather than merely satisfied with it.
a sloppy paint job particularly on neigh unstrippable plastic models will bug you when your painting skills improve.
as for your conversions, keep this in mind, the best conversions are those that are not immediately recognizable as such. the best case scenario with a conversion, particularly for infantry is to have someone come examine your models after a game and remark "wow i didnt know GW made one of these" to which you respond with a sly chuckle "they don't".

the kroot looks very good. really like the white face. looks like the white hand of the LOTR orcs. one minor crtizism. i think he definitly needs some washes. he looks too flat. although i know he got some cool msucles i cant really see them. some devlan mud or even badablack would greatly help. as for the critizism of your conversions, some people clearly haven´t followed the thread so the argue with standard arguments. these don´t aply here, you try to achieve new perspectives. doing it the oldfashoned way wont help.
whenever someone tries to think out of the box this will happen. don´t let it get to you. your doing great!
and: nice to have you back on the board!

Yeah it definitely does need washes and some other detailing. Overall it needs some more bold contrast. The head is pretty good with the face paint and tips, but the body got a bit too dull from the brown and green layering i did and if you believe it, the gun was originally a metallic brown (tin bits i think its called). Nothing like macro photography illustrate my oversights.
Also updates unlikely more than once a week. But ill try to get one in a week
I personally like my conversions, and they have gotten a warm reception where i play.

Made a bit more progress on my kroot rangers.
Guardians are not that great. Thus some will be come dire avengers and some will become rangers. SOME already are rangers! or more accurately skin thieving, double crossing, head chopping pirates. The paint on them now is to start the base color texture.
The kroot head will be skull color.
In his left hand is the kroot's beak and face.
This guy will have a bit more sandstone like skin color. Also planning for some kroot to be blueish. But all will have a green and brown layer on top.
A nearly finished one:
Ticklish underbelly
Face markings.
Thats it for now. Feel free to tell me how harebrained my conversions are and comment on the painting on page one.

I notice some texture on one of the early figs and on the avatar that looks like raised cross-hatching. How are you getting that? hot glue?

It is quite literally cross hatched with an x-acto knife. Usually i do this so two smooth surfaces will take the glue better and when im pressing the pieces together they do not slide around as much. Less sliding is really helpful when custom building models with pieces that were not designed to go together. Also glue wise i use Duco, which is more gel like than GW's plastic glue. So i dont know if this stratagy would be wise for GW's glue. Automatically Appended Next Post: More Dire avengers

Wraithlord! All three gun mountings are magnetized. Using Magnets out of sonic care toothbrushes. They are quite strong. Looted plasma power core. All my corsairs, all converted/scratch built. (except 2 warlocks).

I believe its from a WHFB terrain kit not totally sure though; it was part of a big bag of unlabeled bits i got. Normally eldar wouldnt be able to carry that banner but he is strength 3.5, so he is fine .
I started making a "jet bike" Autarch:
I was thinking it could either have wings like a hussar or japanese style flags:
What do you think?

could work, but to make it more eldar or just generally upgrading that mare to a jetlike proportiens i would add a horn to the head of the horse to just make it a bit better than average horse...do jetbikes are able to fly or only hoover above ground?
and jep i think those back flags would definatly work for eldars...
