Now thats a huge improvement.
The colours are richer and deeper, your freehand is actually visable and looking great, and the metallics are cleaner and more pleasing visually than before. The red is very good, there are a lot of people who would kill to get as nice a red as you have there. Well done

Thanks!
Still working on that terrain.
For my walls i decided to go for sort of a coral/ undadasea theme because they kinda look like coral textured and i wanted to use some cool colors.
My sand got some more washing and some dry brush, not a 100% happy with it, but not to bad either.
Coral wall and Space Bush. Space Bush is a bit greener than last time.
Some more rubble not dry brushed yet.
Last coral wall.

your warseer is totaly .... sigh... cool. his collar and helmet...and then his cape in flowing red... way to go. i guess the gun and sword arent done yet? as again for your freehand, what on hell are you using for a brush? i ´m trying to get my hands on really small brushes, i own several 0/10 ones but i´m in no position to try these signs...
as for your terrain, looks good, but i see a mix of terrain if your having undersea corrals mixed with desert themed sand... i think that has to explained fluffwise...
but your work looks still great^^

Yeah the sword and gun and some other bits need some more love. My brush says 20/0 on it and its pretty tiny.
As to the coral and desert, i guess it could be a dried up sea or a planet with extreme tides. Automatically Appended Next Post: So im basically done with this terrain piece ive been working on (it could use more work probably but im kind of tired of it maybe ill come back to it).

Thanks for all the nice compliments!
I started in on another piece of terrain. I am going for a grand gates sort of piece, nothing is glued but this is my "rough sketch".
I also plan to do a "hall of heroes" piece with many statues. Also i would like to do some other pieces maybe some with more vegetation and some more high tech such as landing pads.
Thats it, but since nothing is glued on the piece i could easily change it if one of you lovely dakkites has a suggestions.

nono, the half circles on both styro pieces looks cool together. also i like the idea that you continue with terrain that fits in to your first one. often people hop around and don´t try to aim for continuity... for me a complete set, a whole table is the major achievment...^^^
one minor suggestion: did you do the eyes of your farseer with scorpion green? not that it is important, but i suggest to give it another go so that the eyes shine more, would give him a more menacing/ piercing look.also considering your freehand skills and your tiny brushes, why not built a lense effect on the eyes with a fairer color...
and since the dark millenium is full of heros we definitly need more "halls of heros"^^

I did the eyes with snot green, i think. Ill consider doing a lens effect but the space is so tiny im not sure ill make it look better.
New terrain ive worked up.
smashacrunch
Piece of wall with scaffolding, that i plan to look like it was made by different creatures than the original ruins. Also perfect for my pesky, well some times, pathfinders.
A guitar string broke, now it has a new life as structural support wires or maybe power cables that draw power from the ruins.
Also i glued the piece i showed earlier. All to be painted to match the first piece of terrain i posted, well if i have the time before school starts.

Welll.. i really really hate eldar but i think that you are doing a really nice job. though that one terrain peice melted a bit it looks awsome. You did a great job on it. THe gungan.... well. thats the only good looking eldar i have ever seen.
if you dont want your styrofoam to melt just paint it with a bunch of white glue or PVA prior to painting it to seal the foam so it wont melt so bad. otherwise your doing great.

Well i guess to each his own, i like the eldar aesthetic.
I think on these next pieces ill paint part of styrofoam and let some melt.

could you do a groupshot of your so far constructed terrain? you´ve done so much these last days, would be nice to see it all in one shot. your argument for possibly messing up the lens effect i cant allow, your work so far speaks volumes against it^^
as i am planning and building up my own army, all the way through i had a nemesis army in my mind...its a thing how my mind works... so in short i am building a DA succesor chapter called the earth angels. and the have a direct enemy, a nemesis in every meaning. its a tyranid army wich will i give birth^^ after completion off the sm. to make a long story short, do you have such an agenda als? or do you stick to the eldars to the very end? as for an archnemesis the DE springs directly to my mind. but with your painting techniques i might suggest a nurgle army. your aproach on color mixing and swirling might be just the thing for them...

Impressive terrain! That wall with the fallen statues was fantastic. It looked really rough in the WIP photos, but the final pics- wow. Good lookin'!
I'm definitely going to try something like that as well- the tiles, the wool stuff, etc. All of it works together really well. Might double as some of my Necro terrain and 40K...

Its not meant to be orky, and i dont really think it looks orky. Ork building look like they were made with a tornado and some spit. For the tower terrain i was trying to make it look impromptu but not messy. Its not supposed to fit into any of the armies themes, in the vast 40k galaxy im sure there are outlining planets forgotten systems and undiscovered alien races so my idea was to have it feel alien but not army specific.

Well, ill just have to try the lens effect.
If i do start a new army, i think it would be Tau or Sisters of Battle (if they ever get plastic models). Tau because I love the way kroot look and the fire warriors too. SoB because, well what's not to like also they can take allies from Imperial Guard or Space Marines so its a lot of options. But its unlikely i will start another army soon although wood elves, brettonians, the empire and lizardmen all look cool too.
As requested all the pieces, even a new one i started work on.

nice groupshots, this will be a fun place to battle on^^
i dont get it why there has to be cables on the terrain so often, but thats not the point. realism wasnt intended when mingling in the grim dark future. so long as it look cool its awsome^^. with this new terrain, where do you want to go lookwise? metall or colored like its lackered (could be wrong spelled^^)? and please give this fictional race a name, please do some fluff^^.

Alright i dont think much about fluff but ill give it a go.
Sweet 40k map for reference I dont know how accurate it is, but it looks nice.
In the Segmentum Ultima on the nebulous horizon of the Centaurus Arm, beyond the reaches of all but the most adventurous pathfinders. The I'kaya, an unknown alien race, scours the Challis Verge system for Lost technology and resources so they can continue their secluded existence away from the ravages of war that consume the rest of the galaxy.
On the planet, C.V. Dunia the I'kaya have found just what they have been searching for.
Thats all i got for now, if i think of something else ill add it later.

I look forward to seeing your blog!
Using my last piece of hard board i made this terrain piece.
I had wanted to do a large hall or Mausoleum of heroes but the piece of hard board was not large enough to do my vision justice. So it's more of a Hero's Grotto.
So far this the only piece with a fully intact statue.
I hope to add rocks/sand today.
Also, eventually, i hope to make some rangers/pathfinders out of Kroot and Glade Guard and possibly some Storm Guardians with Guardians and Glade Guard or Dark Elf Corsair bits. What do you think of this?

good ideas as usual. one minor suggestion. do you know those endthingies from curtains hangings? the one that looks like, hmmm well like a base or an altar...to make it short i would definatly put the model on a shrine...round and in tiers... like a weddingcake... in my book it shouldnt just rest on the floor, might later look like it was lost by its builders^^
other than that, with your last hardbord in use, this can either mean two things: we will see these fine terrains painted in the nearer futur, or you will open the door to hence unknown terrain with new means of support^^.
either way we, your awaiting audience (make that better vidience^^) will get to see some nice pieces^^. big bargain for us and hopefully big fun in doing for you...
as for my blog... its in the making... though my wife is ill and is resting at home, so my painting and modelingtime is somewhat cut short^^
keep up your great work

as someoe already has answered on these circumstances concerning your attemt to tackle a fig `n`cheese bagel:
you should wash it, use thined devlan mud, brings up all details up a treat...
but to tell you the truth, i wouldn´t be a contemter for this meal, might be the flash hit the meal somwhat cruel, but it doesn´t look too tasy for my tastebuds...i´m more into manly spicy stuff... also it has to be about 80% meat to be approved of said taste buds...^^
i´m completly carnivore...
as for your terrain...one thing i am assuming is that painting them is an intense situation...might take hours...the first terrain i built was for a board that looks like moon wastland. completely black with white drybrushed parts...barren and not with so many freaking details. beauty has to take its toll, when you finish these parts be sure that i draw my hat for your work!

Yeah that terrain really takes it out of me. As such it is on hold and under my bed in box.
But i have made some conversions From Guardians into Storm Guardians. Well really just the special weapons ones. 2 Flamers and 2 Fusion Gunners.
Theme wise i wanted them to be corsairs, battle hardened galactic interlopers and fringer scavengers. Not clean and and smooth like those pretentious
Craftworld eldar.
Fusion gunners
Das Flamers

hmmmm, using sm weapons for eldar is quite a bit daring...
well the look good and rough, the look you tried to achieve, but i think for eldars a more artistic/ streamlined looks works better... or you might add some more shoulder pads from sm and maybe the look will fit totaly... maybee you could add some hot glue streacks, when done really small it might also help the look of the guns to make a bit more eldarlike...
as for these storm guardians. are the stripped? if so, the i would have stripped them some more. seems that you will have some details lost due to too much color left from previous paint jobs. i know what i´m talking of, cause my whole armie is based of ebay and all models had some monsters wielding brushes with their buttcheecks to paint them. sometimes their facs where a whole blob... i had to do some serious scrubbing after some days in my stripping tanks...
good luck with your guardians, and dont try to hold off your terrain for to long. it will always be in a bad part of your brain and be a pain for motivation when so much large projects dont get finished... it´s like overdue homework on a weekend and you cant have fun doing what you do, cause you well know you have to do homework eventually...i know that, my schoollife looked that way all the way^^
