how they came to be on your world? well they could be relicts and artefacts of enemies as maybe your technological planet is not afraid of using xeno tech... also if you are ordering bitz... i would look into choas weapon bitz like plasma guns and pistols... the look of them could suit your guys quite well...

same with orks... i recently got hold of some old orky plasma guns... they look very cool... much better than the standard imperial or SM ones...

In all fairness a little text update on my IG.
things i have decided:
1) they will be a defence force so little to no APC's
2) a lot of range weapons and mostly blast weapons (leman russ executioner, missile launchers, grenade launchers ect)
3) there will be 3 full squads of rough riders
4) there will be a griffon artillery piece.

things i am still thinking about i haven't decide on it jet
1) there will be 3 full squads of storm troopers (as a source of ap3 weapons. i know they are over priced but i think they will find a spot in the army)
2) instead of the storm troopers pages that count as ratling snipers. to simulate the young boys that learned from the knights from a safe distance.

what do you guy's think

o yeah before i forget.
i tried the shoota and it looked just weird it's way out of proportion (and not the funny kind). i have seen some pic on the internet with bretonnians holding las rifles which looked oke. but before i do that i will try empire pistols and guns (for that old style effect)

how many RR can you take?
and the decision to mostly not rely on armor is a good if somewhat expensive decesion... but you could nevertheless scratchbuilt some of the tanks and safe up money for the footsloggers...

i just penned up a list 1750 point with a lot of foot sluggers.
more lists
in the army list i have now:

16 missile launchers
6 grenade launchers
68 guards men
2 platoon commanders
2 company commanders
2 regimental standards
20 storm troopers
20 rough riders

the 1750 point army is basically 875 points times two

I think the easiest way to do Men at Arms with lasguns is to use Cadian arms and cut away from the Men at Arms torsos so that they fit flush on, with shoulder pads and everything.
I made mine (the painted ones in the top picture) by cutting away from the Cadian arms and fitting them to the Men at Arms half arms instead, but that is a lot more work and you have to make the other arm by your self as well.

i played my first game with imperial guard today. and i learned something.... DON'T FORGET THE ORDERS!
during the game i had two small (mayor) "accidents"
the first one was a missile launcher that scattered on my griffon and took out the mortar (weapon destroyed)
the second one was a battle cannon the scattered on the same griffon but luckely that penetrating hit was saved by smoke. and they say smocking is bad for you

i also found a great substituted for lasguns, empire guns (a pic update on the mortar tomorrow)

do you mean the guns from the handgunner set? i think they might work quite good...if converted a tad...

oeps let me clarify they guns a bit.
i will use the pistoliers/outrider blunderbuss as a grenade launcher
various guns from the hand gunners/outrider/pistoliers as lasguns
hochland long riffles will be snipers
and i need some gun to be used as hot shot lasguns but i do not know which one just jet xD

do you happen to know the bundled guns? the ones with the three or more barrels? i used those for my praetorian vets...:






could be the ones you were looking for... also minor conversions , like a cable to a backpack might give the hint of a hot shot lasgun...

i do have some of those guns and i was thinking in the same way. there repeater hand guns by the way it's help full if a close friend has over 10,000 points of empire

yes... i can see that would come in handy^^ and i just love the style of those repeater guns... totally badass as you can get!

yes i also like the hochland longriffle and the blunderbuss.

well i have a huge stack of empire bits now i only need to sort out the different weapons

and a small problem. well not so much a problem more a dilemma i have this lying around and i am wondering should i give it to my IG guy's or paint it up as an awesome diorama? and raising a middle digit to my paint skills and go all out with this kit to make some thing extreme nice but that would be pushing my skills to the limit?

how often can one come into possession of such a nice kit? i think you should use it for your own... mabye get it pulled by some horses? the gunner should be replaced but you could really use it for your current army... of course i wouldn´t be tunrned off by the prospect of seeing you make an awsomodio out of it...who wouldn´t...and i could also pm you my adress ...you would be saving on postage quite a heap if you instead to dave post it to me... germany is much cheaper in terms of postage^^

finally i am through the empire bits and i have to say there nice kits with a lot of accessories there is even a key on a chain.

i decided to break away from my usual build-by-list tactic and i am just building and painting models i worry about a list later.

i have 3 months to build and paint as many models as i can. well the building is the most important one as my guards will battle this

i did see it in person it's a massive beast. about the color scheme i believe it will join his black legion.
