Trukks more or less done added some red dust. May add some rust if at some point maybe but i'm happy with as is atm.

While i had the sand out i took a few more snaps. Will add a couple to the Front page.

And some wips, i tried to make a start on the 2nd boys squad but ended up messing around with burnas instead.

They didn't come with fuel packs so i jury rigged a few with some 8mm tubes and millput.

And this guy i found in my bits box with out a head so i plan to make cyborg head.

stonned_astartes,

I would say you have cornered the market on red and light grey Orks.

Truck has some more definition with the sand as it was really monochrome with only a little red and the small areas of checkered black and white. Rust would be another good addition.

My two cents, hope it helps,

CB

I really like these, especially the custom transport. Is it soviet inspired?

Thanks, giving them a bit of setting really makes them come alive. Sadly i've been a bit un-inventive with the burners as i got 5 in the post, was rather looking forwards to making my own custom ones. Oh well i shall have to do another squad.

RexHavoc wrote:One of the best looking ork armies. The red really suits those old sculpts, they look ace!

Cheers man, that's good. Didn't want to leave the old models out seeing as i bought them.

Matthew wrote:I really like these, especially the custom transport. Is it soviet inspired?

Cheers! No it isn't sadly, inspiration came from a hemmit truck if anywhere. There are and will be soviet references, but only because there the 'reds'.

Started on boyz squad 2/ Rescued dead minis

I sat down today and picked out 11 boyz with 2 cc weapons to start customizing, but got distracted by two models that were damaged and had parts missing. Was so pleased with them though that they will be the 1st boyz of squad 2!

Both of these orks had there faces taken off, no idea why & they had both lost there hand weapons. The newer one had also had some green-stuffing done to his back to make him fractionaly bigger; I could have scraped it off but i decided i would just try to cover it up. With the old school boy i also wanted to see if i could mess with the monopose model and get a bit more out of it. So i shaved of the horns (will be used on another model i'm sure), gave him a face plate to hide his disfigurement, replaced his pistol, repositioned his arm and gave him a bigger better chopper.
The ork iv'e created is oozing with character.

The newer Ork who might be a black reatcher I added a tin bucket cyborg head along with fleshing out the armour and adding another pistol, then customising those pistols. The armour looked a bit bare so i added some rivets and glyphs.

I have a very soft spot in my heart for rescuing old, damaged or hopelessly out-of-date minis. So glad you're fixing some up. The boyz look fantastic with their finished rides.

Thank you! got some coming up as its turns out

Old & looted

So my mate was recently clearing out his attic and came across a box of random minis which among a sizeable necron force and the ever present space machines were some orks! I was more than happy to take them off his hands. The notable things were 3 assault on black reach dethkopters which i'm blooming pleased about as iv'e always loved these models but never had the pocket to buy them.
Also were 3 old looted space marine tanks, which had been converted with cut up CD cases! These 3 models are really well done, the turrets even move! The artillery is really nice and classic so i will make that into a big track. However almost to good for Ork tanks in my eyes and a little to small for me so i'm not sure what to do with them. Maybe i shall give them to a friend to use as looted vehicles.

sorry about the blur!

Made a small start on this one, adding decking to make it bigger and will either cover the back or give the canon big plates to protect it.

Cool looted vehicles! I had a twisted idea about red skinned orks as they are fungoids,,,,,,,white speckles on the shoulders, or arms, faces/heads,,,,,walking Ammonitas!

Great find, they look to have had some really good work done already. I know it is a shame in many ways, but you could cut them up and do so much with the collective parts. Maybe they are not right for you at the moment but why not convert. I get the same thing when I get second hand stuff off ebay, someone has maybe done a great job, but it is not what you want, get the hacksaw out and chop. You sir are an Ork Mek, it is what you do!

Some updates on my bikers, the boyz don't fit so well so iv;e had to my 1st bit of ork reposeing. Getting the orks on the bikes is one thing but then getting there arms to the handle bars will be another.

You can always trim at the elbow and wrist to get the hands on the handlebars. Cover it up with Ork straps made from sprue shavings and some plastic cement. In fact getting some thin stripes of polystyrene can be given a quick brush of liquid plastic cement and then wrapped around joints that don't look right because you have cut and adjusted them.

Hope that helps,

CB

@captinbrown - yeah iv'e got some millput but i'm not expert with it, also the distance puts one or two of them no wear near the bars haha!

Truckk No.2 commencing

So being mad mek of mind i jump from project to project and so have started another truckk! Even though i don't need one haha!

Learning from my 1st attempt Iv'e started with a more measured approach of doing the chassis 1st so i know were the wheels will go. Iv'e gone with a sturdy ladder chassis made from solid spruce then added axles and suspension onto it.

The end bits are wear the wheels should fitt onto.

Wasn't sue about how to do the suspension as i didn't want to add any height above or below the chassis, so in the end i came up with slanting it. Not much comfort but better than non.

& the drive shaft, making its 6 wheel drive and at this point i also decided the steering rack would be hidden. It's the future you see.

Thats all so far folks!

Great work, looks nice and solid, and since when do Orks worry about comfort!

Just for maybe future reference, you could have done a trailing arm assembly for the suspension, would have added no height but look more conventional, just a blob of Milliput or GS under the axle to make it look like an airbag would also add detail. and talking of blobs, a blob at each of the drive shaft joints will look similar to a diff. And lastly a second Bar running parallel to the front axle and a disc hub before the wheel will look like true steering.

Please do not take these comments in any way as criticism, just suggestions, your work is brilliant and inspiring. Can't wait to see more.

Oh and with your skills, you could adjust the handlebars on the bikes to fit the Orks. Admit that adjustment of arms maybe necessary, but try a little mechanical adjustment. A simple extension could solve your issue, and would not look out of place, it is an Ork bike after all.

Also another boy to add to the 2nd squad. Not much done just a shoulder pad and a fat amo hopper.

I’m back

So I’ve moved house and been very busy but I’ve finally got around to making a new painting table and getting on with it. This also means I’ve got the enthusiasm to Finnish some of my projects. Not much progress to show but I’ve decided to do the armoured orksonal carrier red. Hopefully update again soon.

@chamberlain Thanks man! Hopefully I’ll provide some good gubbins for you too look at.

@camkierhi Cheers dude, good to be back at it.

progress on the big red ork transportation device

So I managed to stay at it and with enthusiasm so this is just a post to keep me motivated and show I haven’t just disappeared straight away.Due to my decision to make it red it’s ment I had to find an alternative colour than Red to paint the glyphs. I went with checkers and it worked well in some instances and less in others. Managed to remember how to do battle damage and rust so that’s good. Still need to add dirt & dust and break up that red a bit more.
