There is one other thing I wanted to share with you. Its probably a little too orky for you but I thought it was a good idea when I saw it.

the grill/vent is from Zinge... check out his blog here on dakka, he produces nice and good resin details for many purposes!


one question tho, as you now see the trackssystem in almost finished status...should i cover the treads like in some tankversions done or rather the open version?

It's looking good Vik! I really like all those tiny rivets. I think you should try it out, covering up the top tracks. Don't glue it on yet, have a look first, and see if you get the feeling right.

problem is if i want to do that i would need to cut away some substance of the treads beforehand...bloody problem right there...^^

oh and thanks...did a bit of the other tracksystem too but for sanity sake i had to make a pause^^

Yeah, all the tiny bits would drive me crazy.

Just make some rough track covers maybe? about the shape you want the real ones to be. or you could just do a mockup, make another piece of track, with the covers on it. Just to see, though that would be a lot of work extra

I have to be honest I have never ordered from that site. I just like finding suppliers of obscure bits, and thats how I found them

They just seem to do small scale 3D printing based on user submitted designs, if you got their homepage I think you can download the software to make your own designs, there are a few people who make warhammer compatible parts there so its worth looking around

Why cover up those lovely treads?!

Just time to protective coat the shoes and then they should be safe for a spray priming! Nice vent by Zinge, and the rivets are looking very nice for your design!

well if you would want to actualy buy a scratchbuilt j3r03n then this beast would be even heavier than shadowsword or a baneblade^^ ...and we aren´t done yet... much more to come...

well shrike i was a bit unsure as to let them be purely uncovered...hmmm seems they are worthy to be shown completly^^

the rivets are a tad big i guess but the look works quite fine for me...i have to find a middleway inbetween doable work and good looking i guess...as for need to know the rivets are 1.5 cm in diameter...

hazzer...wait till you see it painted...will be a gothic union jack then! by the way do you recon it would be cool looking if i add rivets to the union jack too? after all it is part of the sidearmor...

after your post i googled just for fun the word landship and got some realy impressive suggestions to prove your point chibi^^

Looking SUPERB Vik. Is it wrong that i am loving the way the card makes it look like the tank is made of wood? Probably............

Super work mate, the rivest and plating suit you beast , and the vent is a welcome addition , who votes for Vik to paint his behemoth in wooden plank colours ? would make an interesting take on tanks .

I wonder, if he rivetted the rest of the plates, maybe they would count as strips of metal armor? or is he going to do more of the special iron work like the main hull and turret have over laid on the "planks"?

at Perkustin: seems there is a movement gathered here thats on the outlook for some wooden tanks? hmmm i have to give that some serious thought... if i recall correctly even my wife upon looking at the tracks said they looked like wooden planks...

ok, done a bit of try and error kind of to the tracksystem...i did an optional fretwork to the outer sides...err...pics describe it better i guess^^

I would say that it looks the part!
The extra fretwork ties the sideplates in with the hull by having the same style. Good move imho
