And yeah, just some mild weathering would look good.

Late replies, sorry about that, crazy days...

@Skinflint Games: Thanks! Yes, airbrushed. I've not mastered it yet, but at least I am not afraid of it any more, .

@Dr H: Thanks, Dr!

@monkeytroll: Thank you, MT. Yes, there's gone be mud and weathering, eventually...

Just to get the pics back into the new page:

Rub it with isopropyl alcohol. I hear it helps smooth the lines. Not sure it will work after primed, though

Saved for future reference (I've heard the same about acetone, though it'd probably be stronger - and less "controlable" - than ISO). I didn't have the chance (nor the patience, ) to try it this time, but will do if the chance comes up again.

Also, the printing lines - cliff-like in the close-up pictures - barely show at arms length

Some progress: colours (as few as there are) blocked in, glazed shadows and highlights in legs and feet almost done (spot-colour dirt or scratch wounds on the knees notwithstanding), and one eye sketched. First time attempting a coloured iris.

Harder to photograph than usual, too.

C&C are welcome.

Cheers!

Acetone, but gently. Or maybe one of those sanding needles/stick, or a very high grit sandpaper? The lines look interesting on Gollum, like he has wrinkles. I'd actually be inclined to leave them.

With the larger scale stuff, shading and highlighting do not need to be as strong, or so I've been taught.

Interesting piece. Good work.

Even, all round, lighting will help to hide the print lines from photos.
But we all know photos are evil when it comes to showing what we don't want to see.

Officer looks great, the blue and red works really well together. Death Korps are awesome as always even if they do remind me that i have a few kicking around somewhere that need painting!

The yellow tank thing is super cool, don't go too heavy on the weathering as I am quite fond of it in all its shiny glory

@Dr H: thanks, Doc!

@Red H: I just needed it when I saw it. It has the added value of being marketed as a soldering clamp for electronic work, so it's also easier to smuggle into the shop, being work related and all...

Adjustable width, spring-held swivelling movement, and massive enough not to be easily knocked around. Gets along well with my (seemingly recycled from a small car's transmission) steel ball-bearing mounted turning table.

@monkeytroll: Blink, and another month has passed. Blink again, and next year in around the corner. Happens,

@Commander Cain: Thanks! I agree, so I tried a somewhat "unrealistic" muddening to preserve the yellow: heavy on the tracks and undercarriage, and only sparse spattering (and some scratches, 'cause) on the upper side.

Does it work?

C&C are welcome.

For C&C: maybe breakup the yellow masses with some sort of unit designations, numbers, and so forth? Then proceed with a bit more weathering. My 2ยข.

Works for me if you're keeping it relatively new and shiny. But agree with Red that some markings would not go amiss, even if just a unit or vehicle designation. Maybe just an identifying symbol or colour strips of you don't have relevant decals.

^That is my "signs and symbols" stage, I talk about. Not just a unit designation etc. (the big things), but little signs for the people that use it; A "flammable" triangle on the fuel tanks, A "this is a hatch for access" sign next to a hatch (or rectangular shape on the hull), A "this way up" or a "attach hooks for lifting" sign.
Military things have many of these, civilian things have less and what they do have are less prominent.

As to weathering. Good job. a light touch for how muddy the terrain is (but maybe it's slow moving and so doesn't kick up much mud).
The paint wear is good, but maybe some sponge weathering for paint chips (more defined paint-loss). Not everywhere, just corners or anywhere it'll take a ding.

Thank you all!

Agreed, it needs some breaking up and spot colours. IDK about the unit markings, still have to come up with something for that that can be carried across the motor pool to tie them all in...

Signs and symbols (thanks, Dr!) sound great, that plus some stowage might do it. It is still on (near, at least) the bench, so it might even happen, too,

Last minute last 2018 WIP of something else, 'cause I wanted to paint red:

Scheme contrasts nicely with the Krieg, IMHO, in case they ever get to be put on a table!

Happy New Year, and remember not to toast with your painting water!

Cheers,

@Commander Cain: Thanks! Though things do tend to take some time to arrive down here, so I'll probably have to make do with what I have around,

Trying (once again, kind of a recurrent theme at the beginning of every year, is it not?) to keep things a bit more lively.

Red and metallics. Got it. And bigger, just 'cause. Very WIP:
