All are spectacular, but the Krieg Officer is my favorite. The black and purple are an amazing combo.

Yes, the purple is working very well. But... the troopers look like they are painted with a Dutch Blue instead of a Prussian Blue... </joking> The Krieg officer even has proper jackboots. good progress.

Thanks!

Krieg Officer done. I think the last details did bring it together well enough.

@Red H: Dutch blue? IDK, maybe that last wash dulled them down too much?

C&C are welcome, as always.

Cheers!

@Gits: Thanks,

@monketroll: Thanks you. Took some time with it, happy it shows!
es
@graven: Glad it helps! At some point, I didn't think it was going to work out, there just wasn't enough contrast between the black and the purple. Final golden details, and the last-minute added purple trimming on the epaulettes to break the black a bit helped bringing it together.

If anything, zenithal preshading (pre-highlighting, actually) helped a lot both with the black coat and with keeping the purple bright enough to detach from the black.

Now that I see it up and closer, I need to pick up those buttons before the final varnish.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kreig officer turned out well.

Re: magnified close-ups. A useful tool for spotting areas that need more work. It's what I do, but I also use magnification -- +3.00 reading glasses -- when I paint. Out of necessity these days.

Re: Swords. Well, what are you going to hit it with when the tank driver drives you closer?

Nice work on the Psyker and the squad.

Only thing I can see to c&c is to put a bit more of an angle on your chainsword hazard stripes, with the angle he's holding it they look a bit too horizontal. And that's just nitpicking.

As the (new) tittle goes, change of pace. Brief interlude, repaint job time.

Meet Olde Beast, probably my first scratch built, Leman Russ Battle Tank, with sponsons. 98% cardboard. IDK if the paint fell off, or if I never actually finished it.

Behold!

That's as far as I got yesterday. Trying to push it and get it (mostly) done before the weekend.

Won't win any contests, but I kind of have a soft spot for it after all this time.

So I'm looking at those rings on the top of the sponsons and thinking, "Hmmm, mini-turrets would look right cool on those." IIRC, heavy stubbers or stormbolters were available add ons.

Are you going for a WWI battleship camouflage look? If so, you nailed it.

Good work on the Cadians, always good to see a finished squad (mainly because I'll never get round to finishing one myself )

Olde Beast looking fine, whether it's a rescue job or a new job

This time, I actually was! Glad it came through, I really like the blue, black and grey stripping. Mmmmm, extra turrets, more dakka.... guess you can never go wrong with that! Will give it some thought.

Ahh, the old (un)finished squad issue. Yeah, I don't know what got into me lately, but I'm in an actually finishing stuff lately... Guess a doctor's appointment will be in order soon...

Calling it done for know, might revisit later for weathering and gun add-ons.

Cheers!

New lease, or just actually getting closer finishing it for the first time?

Gitsplitta wrote:Very nice work Lt. That's a fine looking vehicle.

Thanks, Gits!

It's not old, it's classic,

Notes:

Working again on this one reminded me why I quitted cardboard and never looked back (Took some time to secure a proper HIPs supply, used card first. Still good for many things, less so this kind).

Edge highlighting require edges. Sharp ones, preferably. Dooh. More than half of the "straight" edges in the pictures above are hand painted, over a rather curvy joint. Plastic gives much cleaner sharper angles and lines.

Detailing, detailing, detailing. Specially volume & depth wise. Little to none regarding plating and rivets in the Olde build. Hard to make for an interesting paint job with little grounds for shading and highlighting.

Hand made tracks - unless one is a borderly insane, monomaniac, scratch builder monster master, that can pull of amazing things "out" of a piece of plasticard -: iuck,

No progress so far in the miniature's front, but I did find time for a little overhaul of the workbench, redid the wiring and electrical installation: actual cables and fixed outlets under the bench, and holes to run the wires through, instead of the former Medussa-mess on it. Amazing how much space got freed by removing the wires and power-strip(s) out of the equation!

Normal programming will resume soon(ish)

Cheers!

Thanks, Graven! Those are fun indeed, and they paint up rather quick too.

Dr H: Something a bit more colorful than my usual choices, aren't them?

Onto yet another thing.

Some (better not to check the upload date, ) I started putting a Basilisk together. Not one to just glue things as sold, I meddled with it a bit:

First, I hinged the turret hatch and the cannon breech block, and replaced a missing side hatch. Just details.

But then I though the chassis could be used as an open topped transport with only a little tweaking, maybe even leading to a second alternative cannon as well, to be built whenever... So I added some railings on both the cannon's base and sides of the cockpit, and done: slide-in Earthshaker (Recoil notwithstanding, )

But that's old news.

Bringing it back up in the cue, now there's some paint on it, too.

Part way WIP:

d

And first stage done:

With some close up shots:

Now, just deepening down the panel lines and other shadows, and then, maybe - I kinda like the clean green look - some damage. Dust and mud, at least, will have to happen eventually.

C&C are always welcome!

Cheers
