Obviously Studio McVey could confirm or deny this point, but my guess is that all the miniatures we've seen so far are either from the resin masters or metal miniatures they currently produce, but are we spending like crazy based on an assumption that the SW plastics will be comparible (material / detail wise) to GW plastics?

We're seeing a lot of concept sketches coming out as stretch goals, but nothing concerning what the final miniature will look like.

Are we gonna open these boxes and be seriously disappointed? I hope not, but how big is this risk?

Mike has been involved in miniatures for a really long time.

The stuff he used to do, years ago, for GW was exceptional. Me and probably 10,000 other kids probably gasped in awe about the results he could get from the paintbrush.

The models he has done from his own range are of exceptional quality. In sculpt detail, concept and quality, I would put them right up there with the very best the industry has to offer.

I would be very, very surprised if these models are sub-par or of poor quality. Personally, I think he has earned at least a little bit of 'trust' from the fan community from his work over the past years.

I’m not suggesting Studio McVey are “misleading” people, they are showing you a concept sketch of a miniature they will create, but there’s no guarantee that figure will turn out 100% in line with the concept.

With 54 hours to go (at the time of this post) it’s too late to raise the question now, I think I would have been less nervous if I’d seen a plastic sample miniature up close and in detail. My nightmare scenario is opening the box and being greeted by an army of Mantic Elves.....you know what I mean

Rest assured, the Sedition Wars products are quality. Had you bothered to do some research ahead of time, you would have noticed that many figures were already produced and for sale via his website and are considered among the highest quality miniatures you can buy.

The sculpts that come in Sedition Wars for most of the troopers are supposed to be vast improvements over the old Vanguard Troopers. Had you bothered to look at them, you would realize, a vast improvement means putting better quality on top of work that was already superior.

I think this is a rather silly point you have brought up at the very last minute, simply because you don't have anything to gripe or complain about in this situation. There is still time to go pull your pledge if you are nervous, then we can all be laughing in your face come November when we have our amazing sets of Sedition Wars and you're playing with yourself.

My Plan is to compliment the tiles with the 3d, or spacehulk tiles.
Then, start the factions out in different areas of the station, and put a few things in such as crates, the suits, ( Some with people in them, some without,) some civilian types from other ranges... ( Hasslefree), add in the Hrud from Heresy, and away we go. Then people can jump in and play who they want to. Looking for a 4X8 board, by the way. All said and done, the station will as well more then likely be several levels...( 7 maybe.LOL)

Several scenarios come to mind.
1. Breakout.
2. Beachhead.
3. Capture the Suits/ Spawnpoints
4. Rescue
5. Fighting to the escape pods
6. Last stand
7. Treasure Hunt. ( full blown battle going on and the ship crew show up to kidnap a special someone, or item, or both.
8. Escape
9. COuntdown to Destruction
10. Oblivion.

We've seen them all before in one place or another, but the basics of the scenarios are putting all of those characters into different factions and fighting for goals. Add in your other figures, and the space hulk feel. ( along with a 2 minute timer, or dark rules,) and its sounding and going to be a pretty cool time of it.

Wondering what the tabletop games going to look like. I saw some "Terrorists" in the metal range. and am highly interested in those, as well. Can never have too many space pirates/ terrorist plots.

Also wondering if these figures are going to be sold later on in sets, or different tilegames. and if they will be interchangeable.

Woah woah woah...

Can we please have less fething criticism of playing with yourself?

Playing with yourself is easily as enjoyable a hobby as painting miniatures, and If it wasn't for the chafing I would gladly spend far more time engrossed in the hobby.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I really like the armored suits.. I wonder if they'd work good for counts-as ogryns? I'm planning to use the vanguard figs for high tech IG vets

They had the metals, some of the resin masters, and I believe one of the plastics at Origins in Columbus about a month ago. The models are quite wonderful.

I agree that Mr. McVey has probably earned some leeway here; if you own any of his limited resin pieces, you already know that he sculpts are, quite frankly, one of the top two or three lines in the boutique miniatures industry (I can't decide if they're better or worse than Kingdom Death and Kings of War is too new to determine).

Regardless, I have the utmost faith that both CMoN and McVey Studios are commited to producing a high quality product. If you read the Wired articled, Chern An notes that the concepts CMoN has submitted so far have been 90% done BEFORE Kickstarter, and Kickstarter is a way to make them better. I think with the amount of funding we've pushed so far with this KS, we're not going to get better, but rather Great.

I know full well that Delephont knows the quality of the miniatures as he's mentioned earlier in the thread that he used to own a load of the models (they now sit in my office). He's just making a comment that for all of the extra figures, we're shelling out for sketches and have no idea if the final models will be in the same pose, or have the same level of detail. The original Mantic sketches for the elves were bulkier than the final, spindly models that were released.

I don't see this being a problem with SW models, but I understand where he's coming from, especially with some of the strain-ified characters

NOT going to be a problem.

Interesting to see that they have also added just the battlefoam trays for $35 in case you don't want the bag as well

But that battlefoam tray... is it for the box? It seems square, and ready to hold the content of the standard game.

Maybe I missed it but... all these new figs included.. a lot say they'll be delivered in march .. but, on the pledge area it says november.. does all the new figures push the whole release date back, or are they gonna send the game in November, and then the extra stuff in March?

AS far as I'm aware, you'll get the game and anything basic in November, then a second package with the additional stuff in March.

The new tray will fit in the box; battlefoam also has trays that fit in the dreadfleet, space hulk, gears of war, and dust tactics boxes.

Well spotted, I missed that. It looks like it will fit in the box; but I'd guess that means there's only enough spaces in it for the miniatures in the actual box, not all those extras we're getting. Still, pretty useful.

Well, with so many of the extras being included in the price of the Biohazard level that will arrive later, I figured that if I am going to be getting models 9 months from now I may as well pull the trigger on the terrain as well.

I hate justifying it that way, because that means the terrorists have won.

The suits are a bit harder to justify, but just barely as they are so slogging sweet.

Maybe just one... it wont hurt too badly... at least that's the rationale I keep telling She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed...

It her fault really. She started it by demanding that I include those Not-Serenity figs. Yeah... that's the ticket...

Not sure. Though if some good ideas come up I may pick up a Rev. Shephard and Haylee, Ship's Mechanic figure from Hasslefree to go with them. Any "hot chick" figure, possibly in a swashbuckler's outfit would work for Inara.

I'd agree with getting one, if only to serve Lily in a hard shell.

I'd probably be in for a case if it wasn't Battlefoam.
