Oh necromunda how I miss thee. Lovely stuff Sigur. I completely agree with Yggs on the plasma pistol.

@Yggdrasil: Thanks very much!

@Moltar: Thank you. I think that GW's Necromunda models really are very pretty. The post-2000 releases were kind of pants but oh well.

@IceAngel: Cheers! It's for a guy who just got several of his friends to take up Necromunda. Very cool stuff.

Right-o, if you're a US'er I hope that you had a nice Thanksgiving! This year I actually participated in a way by watching the MST3k Turkey Day Marathon basically from beginning to end. It was a blast.

Little update on the American Civil War stuff - one and a half regiments of infantry and a regiment of cavalry:

I'll see that I can get them painted any time soon. I think for a proper longstreet campaign force I need three regiments of infantry and one cavalry.

Van Saars are done too:

Hope you like them.

A question: I'm thinking of running a kind of themed month in December (commission work aside. that still happens too of course) and I'm going for World War 2. I've got several reviews lined up but I'm still struggling for a vehicle review to do. So do you have any suggestions, anything you're interested in specifically in terms of WW2 vehicles?

@Gitsplitta: Hey, if they have dedicated armour plates for their buttocks they obviously care about them. No reason not to draw some attention. Nice use of "crack up" by the way.

@GiraffeX: Don't worry, so far I got one (1) comment about the models looking cool (from the guy who commissioned them and three (3) comments on the butts.

Heyhey, last night all kinds of stuff with miniatures was done. FIRST, I finished one of the Tzeentch daemons I've had lying around for quite a while:

book detail:

I really love this model. There's so much fun stuff going on. I whilst paining tzeentch models the mind starts to wander and I start thinking what might be the deal with this guy. I love the way, he holds the book in front of his face, endlessly amused of fascinated. Maybe he's babbling out magic spells constantly while endlessly wandering around a daemon world, brainlessly babbling away, causing all kinds of mayhem with the spells. In the book the soul of a secretive magician is cought, the book was once his and now he's got to witness how all his super secret creations are just read out loudly all the time, wasting them on the world.

Oh well.

In other news, I took a bunch of pictures of terrain, mostly for a review I've scheduled for another time. I'm doing something new by doing theme months, throwing reviews onto the blog and having going along with that a discount on projects commissioned that month if they're of the genre the month is themed after.

The whole thing starts right away with December and right away with World War Two! In the next weeks I will post reviews of various WW2 kits and models, will look into WW2 rulesets and so on. Simultaneously of course there still will be the usual commission business going on of course, the themed month is just on top. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you guys think of the content I'll post and the discount.

I think you've captured him perfectly Siggy... and you're right, that's a fantastic model. A physical manifestation of all that is Tzeentch. Just love what you've done with it.

That's gorgeous Siggy! Love the book, the skin and tattoos and the different blends and effects, throughout. Great stuff.

Awesome Sigur! that book is a work of art all by itself! I love how you've got the text flowing around the eye! and the tattooed skin is great as i'd expect from you! :-) a really nice model you've done something brilliant with.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much, mate!

@Moltar: Cheers. Took me long enough to get the bugger painted but I really like him now.

@Nerdfest: Cheers. I think I could have done much better on the book. The scribbly bits are a bit rushed and the eye theoretically needs some more shading around it so it looks a bit more three dimensional (the idea is that it opens between two lines). But yeah, it's a fun model.

Hmm, looking at your avatars, I guess it's time to take off the angry eyebrows and moustache get the old christmas hat out again...

As threatened in the last posting, December is World War Two Month on Battle Brush Studios!

Meaning model and rules sets Reviews and lots of pretty pictures of WW2 models AND -20% off any WW2 projects commissioned during this month!

Yesterday I posted an introductionary thing on the site: http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2013/12/world-war-2-month-at-battle-brush.html

And today the first review!

German Pioniers

http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2013/12/review-german-pioniers.html

Hope that you like the review, C&C welcome as always and maybe even review requests if I can get my hands on the models in time! So tell your friends and family drop by the site, I have lots of stuff lined up. Oh, and if you couldn't give a hoot about that kind of thing it's okay. Regular commission work and updates will go on as usual, there's just the WW2 stuff on top.

@Moltar: Thanks very much!

Okay, what's been happening while this thread was all quiet....

That aside, there's still the rest of the Tzeentch Daemons to work on...

That's not all of them and the Daemon Prince still is WIP in these pictures of course. Here's a shot of what's going on on the back of his wings:

About a week ago I fell sick with a nasty cold. Couldn't really paint for two days and wasn't feeling right at all for about two more (kept me from attending a beautifully looking 28mm Napoleonics game :( ) so I played around with some paints and two of my own minis:

You might remember the lady in the left. That was my entry for the 2012 Hasslefree sculpting competition. I didn't win but at least the mini was finally free for me to paint her up. She's going to be part of my eclectic Infinity Nomads crew. The lady in the right is an Infinity Nomads Wildcat with a heavy rocket launcher. Cute mini but it displays some of the things I don't appreciate a lot about recent Infinity releases (proportions get more and more screwed up, huge breasts, pinhead, posing instead of fighting).

What I'm currently working on at high speed is some nice Nurgly stuff!

Heldrake:

Forgefiend:

These, along with another pretty from Forgeworld, are meant to go with the Chaos Warhound I did two years ago if you remember:

Well, and there's that guy...

So yeah, stuff to work on which is great as always, and Christmas around the corner! Things are well I suppose.

hope you're feeling better now? and I hope you have a great Christmas time too!

Well, the dust slowly settles I suppose. Still, I just want to put this here..

Hope all of you are having great holidays. Me, I put all my own toys away again for a bit and continue slaving away at chaos models. Here's a bit of a size comparison shot:

In other news, I'm still doing this WW2 Month thing and today I posted another miniature review. This time it's a smaller scale but I'm sure some of you will find it interesting. It's the 15mm scale (and therefore FoW-compatible) Matilda II kit from Zvezda:

Review Link!

....well, and that's that. Did anyone of you get any toys for christmas? I have to admit that I have no sense of proportion, good manners or the least bit of human decency so I got myself a lot of toy soldiers.

(I would like to point out that this is just the wargaming-related stuff. I also got a very nice book called "Lamb - The gospel according to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" and a bunch of vouchers.)

So yeah, bunch of classic Sharpe films because it was a bargain really, a Sharpe novel which should be fun (in terms of writing chronology I think it's the first one), some stuff from Warlord Games (and a platoon of Soviet infantry from Black Tree Design on the way) and the obligatory Infinity figure. Infinity, out of the many games I don't really play a lot or much at all for the past two years, might be the one game I get the most figures for. I also finally got the Force on Force rulebook just so I got it. It's also nicer laid out as Tomorrow's War (which of course is the sci-fi version of Force on Force and virtually the same rules set). So yeah, that's me.

Hope that you enjoy the reviews, the general babbling and the pictures. If you've got any feedback, comments, questions and so on I'd appreciate it as always.

I've seen ( and Own) all the Sharp's videos. Classic.

You'll have to post a WWII battle report. Nice to see how the Mechanic's of the game plays.

@Gitsplitta: Yeah, isn't it? Plus, I got some more stuff on the way.

@Solar_lion: I've watched them several times but never really owned them as such, only borrowed the dvds from a friend. It was just time to pick them up. Sharpe's Challenge I got on DVD last year. It's got a commentary track from Daragh O'Malley and Sean Bean on it which is amazingly good fun. Well, I posted a battle report for Flying Lead at least. Hope to get one on Chain of Command done ASAP too. As far as Force on Force goes, I've had two games of it for WW2. What can I say, this rules set is amazing. It has a very "realalistic" feel to it. Makes you rethink how you play wargames really.

Well, there's the big boy again in all its glory. Unfortunately, not yet in all it's colour.

The background is my regular "big things background" for models I can't fit on my regular photo setup and if there's an occasion to get that one out, it certainly is for this fella. I do love painting titans but you should never underestimate the additional amount of time such huge models take on each step. Basecoating the metallics alone took me a day and a bit. But yeah, it's getting there. Hope you like him so far!

@GiraffeX: Thanks very much. It was very interesting having the pre-set colour scheme and working out how to apply it to this guy. I can't wait to see him next to his little brother.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much.

Well, here we go with the next update:

So that's the titan as it stands now. Almost finished bar for the face on the right kneepad and some minor additional detailling.

Here's another fella I'm working on. Would be great if I could finish it until tomorrow but let's see:

When Forgeworld released the Malcador, especially the "lots of heavy bolters variant" I was really impressed. It's a really nice design and I really like the clunky, old-style design of the thing. Looks like it's something straight from the 1920s, early 1930s.

It's really annoying that things get so tight with the deadline. Believe it or not, I fell ill TWICE during working on these Nurgle models. Completely unrelated things too and usually I get ill maybe twice a year. I'll be happy to go on to painting something less infectious with supernatural, hellish diseases. Just kidding. I really enjoy working with these models. Doing new weathering things and such, always a pleasure.

A happy new year to all you wonderful people! Thanks for reading the plog and for commenting. Things have been a bit slower over the past months, mostly due to working on historical stuffs (by the way, WW2 month on the Battle Brush Studios blog has been extended to the 17th of January. Reviews, Pictures, -20% off any WW2 commissions) and also because I've been really busy with getting the Nurgle things done and of course all kinds of holiday things to do, people to meet, foodstuffs to be devoured, mead to be drunk and all of that. So that lessened my posting on here because I know that once I start rambling I tend to go on and on. On Facebook and blogs I post on I do write in a very casual style but still keeping my "official" hat on while on here I feel posting is much more like a relaxed chat. So yeah, I'll keep updates coming more steadily again now.

Hey Siggy happy new year to you to mate! everything looks great, I love the colours and style of your Nurgle painting, it's a little different and looks only slightly corrupted by disease but it's still unmistakably Nurgle!!

I look forward to seeing you back more regularly and bringing us some more amazing eye candy to inspire and astound!

and you're right too, being here is just like hanging with mates having a chat! feels good eh! :-)

@Gitsplitta: "Provider of Wonderment". I think I like that.

@Nerdfest09: Cheers. Funnily enough, the Chaos Reaver is much less damaged and textured than the Chaos Warhound. Not necessarily a bad thing though, the colour scheme ties them together anyway so one can look a bit less beaten up than the other.

Well, all the models are finished in time, photographed and packed up. AND still seven hours to sleep if I went to bed now. But, as the Spartans famously said, "IF"...

Heyhey, after spending the christmas time working on this project I took a day off now to rebase and neaten up most of my 15mm WW2 figures. They used to be mounted on multi-bases because I thought it would work either way for the skirmish gaming I do (Force on Force WW2, Chain of Command, all platoon-level stuff, maybe in a weak hour give Bolt Action a try) but having them single based really is just so much more convenient and saves a lot of bookkeeping:

Sorry for the rather sucky picture quality. Here's my platoon along with a few of the vehicles I painted up for them. It's funny, as soon as a model is set on its own base i immediately have to give it some more attention in terms of painting and such so I redid the skin, did some blacklining, detailling and so on on the fellas. Still no masterpieces but I like them. Tomorrow I'll see that I can get the officers some names and maybe backgrounds and take some close-ups. Despite the fact that you can barely see anything at this point, I hope that you like the picture.
