@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much, mate!

Some more pictures:

Here again on the little presentation board along with some vehicles and then on their own. Lieutenant, Platoon Sergeant and platoon command including 2" mortar and Boys anti-tank rifle team, three rifle sections of ten each including a Bren gun team each, led by a Corporal and a Lance-Corporal each. Then there are six surplus dudes I can use as artillery observers, disembarked vehicle crews, additional troops, or what ever else the scenario reqires. They of course depict British troops in mid-1941. Basically a rifle platoon but i can turn them into a motor platoon easily (remove two guys from each rifle section mostly). Well, and that's that. Hope you like them.

It's always amazing how realistic you get these models looking. It's one thing to do that on a sci-fi model (the Nurgle things look great too btw), but it really tells on something recognisable irl.

Good job.

@nerdfest09: Well, it's just a different kind of painting. Thanks nonetheless of course!

And now they're even varnished! Hooray!

Well, yes, I actually am. I won't tell you which part is machine though.

I gotta point out that I didn't paint them just yesterday and today. This is what they looked like for the past months:

While I am obviously impressed and in awe of your itty bitty soldiers, I am more worried again about a pressing matter of your Squirrell HAVING NO MOUSTACHE!!

Calm down, everyone! You know, I take the moustache off and put it in the laundry once each year around christmas. It will be back soon, shinier than ever (along with the eyebrows)!

In other news, more WW2 stuff, less itty bitty but 28mm:

Those are WIP of course. Hope that you like them.

Right-o, I had to sort out and edit a TON of pictures today (12 gigs thereof) so I didn't get ahead quite as quickly but I think things are shaping up:

Schürzen need some more weathering, SdKfz251 is pretty much done. What do you think?

Hey guys, I wrote up another review of a Warlord Games model. This time going on to the vehicular side of things and take a look at the Panzer IV Ausf.H:

Well, I declare, time for some updatin'!

Kicking it off with Tzeentch Daemons

Daemon Prince

Herold

Chariot

Army shots:

It's basically the second part of the psychedelic Daemons. Very unique army, very different to paint and during painting the lot for some time I felt like my eyes had given up on me. But I really enjoy the look of the models on the table (which I had the honour to gaze upon, more on that later)

Forgefiend

[img]http://sigur.tabletopgeeks.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/18/gallery/chaos/ffdetail1schrift1.jpg[/i9mg]

Really fun model. This one possibly was the one I had the most fantasy painting fun with from the whole lot. Note the added growths and Nurglings.

Helldrake

Sorry, hardly a full picture because I couldn't quite fit him on my photo setup. Very interesting model, that. Due to its proportions, it reminds me a little of Rodan:

There are some nice details about it, especially all the more organic looking stuff in the back. For Nurgle especially, very handy. I kept the little red-going-yellow details from plasma weapons on earlier models on the claws and the maw gun here. The base is a lot of fun as well. Lots of detail and of course Nurglings yet again.

Malcador Infernus

As I said before, I really like the Malcador. It's got a really cool look to it (I especially like the "many heavy bolters" variant. Very WW1/1920s in design.) Mucho fun weathering the fellow.

Good heavens Sigur. Just LOOKING at what you accomplish in the average day makes me tired. Everything is... as I have come to expect... absolutely top notch. Love the shading on the Malcador and the way it counterpoints the wear & rust stains.

Well, and then there's the big guy:

Reaver Titan

Painting this guy was very exciting. From assembling the single parts over recreating the colour scheme of the Nurgle Warhound titan I'd done two years ago for the same client, the interior, all the weathering, damage and so on. Very cool experience and I hope that you like him. It's a really imposing model. Very impressive. I really enjoy painting titans.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks very much. It was kind of a rush working on those guys really. Took me about two weeks to do them (the two weeks over christmas and new years no less. Phew. Until the very last day I wasn't sure I could finish the Malcador in time but I did.

@Dr H: Cheers.

The next day after I had managed to finish painting the whole bunch - as i said, until the very last night I wasn't sure wether or not I could finish the Malcador in time but it worked out. - the client's big game took place and as usual I made my way out there (not too bad, about a one hour's drive) to take some photos of the game for the group.

...and that's before the first reserves arrived!

deep-striking daemons

Black Templars showing up for their first apocalyptic battle

one of the defilers got bored and decided to climb up some ruins

After Chaos' first turn it was time for imperial retaliation so they threw ten flyers on the table

imperial guard command bastion

love this one. It's so 40k.

That hole in the enemy lines opposite the Reaver used to be a Land Raider and two Leman Russes. If I remember correctly it was just one weapon he shot at them

Despite the fact that I really just stood around and took photos the six hours I spent flew by. The game didn't only look great, it was also really kind of gripping (which 40k isn't too often if you're just an onlooker). Lots of little stories taking place on the flanks and in close combat between daemon princes and space marine commanders, greater daemons and giant robots and so on. As always great atmosphere, great looking armies, a joy to behold.

Looks like a fantastic game. I think I'd really like to try Apoc some day. Very nice to see an Apoc game where most of the models aren't bare plastic... unfortunately that's most of what I've seen.

Holy flaming heretics Batman!! I'm sitting here with Nerdwench and she's wondering what i'm looking at due to my jaw hanging open so much! lol these last few posts from you are absolutely mind blowingly great! such a diverse and honestly beautiful array of superbly painted models Sigur, I love the Nurgle models they are some of the best i've ever seen and the Tzeentch stuff i'm lost for words on! the wings are just so different and work so well! and I can't forget the Titan and game shots :-) that stuff is just amazing and very very cool! seeing the models battling it out with such high quality paint is an absolute joy!

Thank you Sigur for being such an amazing artist and being a damn cool guy as well! :-)

@Gitsplitta: Indeed. It's always great just watching these guys play because they genuinely have fun playing 40k which, unless you're involved in a good gaming group yourself and mostly participate in the 40k community via the internet sounds like an impossibility, judging from the general online chatter sometimes. But they have it figured out. eight to ten guys, everybody brings a part of his collection, they organize via the forum and meet up every four to six months or so and set up these huge games. The most baffling thing is that they not only got stuff for Imperium vs. Chaos games but also huge Orks versus Imperium games and they started collecting pre-heresy things as well (of which some were to be seen in this painting log before). It's good stuff.

@GiraffeX: Cheers, glad to hear that.

@nerdfest09: Thank you very much. Yeah, that tight deadline which kept me from doing anything (barely finding time to celebrate christmas with the family and new year's really) or posting much lead to this daemon bomb to be unleashed all at once. It was a kind of cool feeling posting all this stuff at once, finally giving you lovely people some 40k love again.

Okay, that's enough for stuff that gets replies and open jaws, let's return to the hardships of life - I uploaded new reviews.

Hello Sigur! I may not have commented in a while, but it's brilliant to see that this thread is still going! (Well, I suppose, why wouldn't it be?) The Apocalypse Battle looked like lots of fun - those Mordian Iron Guard are a blast from the past, especially with their super-retro paint scheme. The historical suff is looking super-sharp - keep up the good work!

@Cosmic: Long time no see, Cosmic. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Yeah, those Mordians immediately cought my eye. I was very much a fan of doing GW things mid-90s style some years ago but ultimately didn't do it but it's kind of cool to see people pulling it off. It is a very fancy looking army.

To have WW2 weeks go out with a bang I pitted Black Tree Design's Soviet infantry against Warlord Games' Soviet infantry in a two-in-one review and in-depth comparison article. Hope you enjoy.

Hey peeps, a little update on the first test mini for a new project. It's a Tau Kill Team with a little army attached.

First the test mini for the Kill Team's colour scheme:

It's a kill team of six Stealth Suits. Those are supposed to look proper "behind enemy lines" so there's some wear and tear going on and some dirt and soot. The model is still WIP as I'm still figuring out what colours are to go where. I probably will add some orange marking as well. Hope you like the guy so far.
